The most famous significant religious monument in all of Europe, after successfully standing for 1000 years and surviving a number of occupations and two World Wars, just happens to catch a massive fire like this during Easter, after a series of churches already having burned down by diversity? And the rapid firefighting response in a rich 1st world city somehow happens to fail exactly at that moment?

In regards to the firefighters... Only theory I may have is that due to the age of Notre Dame it isn't that easy to just dump thousands of pounds of water on the structure. For fuck's sake, the levels of tinfoil silliness reaching an all-time high. If you lot spent less time on Tinder you would know fires during renovations of ancient buildings with wood framework are not unusual, unfortunately, due to sparks from welding, short circuits, etc. You don't even need renovation works. Some more or less recent examples: Windsor Castle, the Opera Theatre in Venice, the Liceu Theatre in Barcelona or the Leon Cathedral.

The cultural-spiritual loss is huge no doubt. But 9/11 led to the Iraq War, which has been a two decade clusterfck that is still ongoing. The lives lost and damaged and the billions of dollars wasted as a result of 9-11 might, just might outweigh today's terrible loss.
