Burning out and getting through a period of extended grinding on work
About two times a year, my workload doubles up and I have the chance to make about five figures of income in one month. The work is writing related.

Even if you're only working 40-45 hours in a week, it's very very intense demanding work.

Naturally, this is always a challenging time for me. I'm not under obligation to go that hard, but it's a great feeling at the end of the month looking at how your account that has grown, and the dividends you get if you choose to invest it.

I'm in the thick of it now and was wondering if you all had any tips on how to get through an intense period of grind without burning out, how to stay motivated, etc.

I'm sure there's a biochemical equation to feeling "burned out," but I don't know what it is. I know I end up feeling that way a lot.

Of course, I've tried most of the nootropics (they always leave me feeling more burned out and less productive after the fact). Drugs like Adderall largely do the same.

I have had great success with meditation, ZMA before bed, proper sleep (duh), infrared saunas on Sunday, consistently lifting (even though you feel horribly tired), etc.

Any tips?

Been slaving at finishing a project for 4 monthes now. Havent been out more than once maybe. But planning trips after its done helps me survive the grind. Plus it helped me stay sober snd lose weight so its not all bad. If its temporary u shouldnt be looking at quick fixes. Just ride it out.

Regular sleep schedule, moderate exercise, healthy diet full of good fats. Avoid nootropics like the plague.

Beyond that, it's simply a matter of doing the work from day to day. Breaking things down into non-overwhelming chunks can be helpful. Chances are that however demanding or draining you feel the work is, you can still put in your hours for the day. Don't over think these things - people endure far worse for much longer periods. You can go for years and years on end, with no breaks, doing 60+ hour work weeks, working bloody hard under tremendous stress and pressure.

Try to remain cheerful, with a sense of humour. I mean that sincerely. Just try to remain good natured and upbeat, and you will find things are rarely too much of a grind. It's not really a matter of motivation, it's just a matter of getting up and doing what needs to be done, irrespective of how you are feeling about it, or other things in your life. This will just pull you through naturally, even when things are particularly shitty.

Are you going through burnout due to stress or due to lack of motivation?

I'm going through a period of burnout due to stress. Except I've been at it for close to two years with a handful of 1- and 2-week breaks in between. A one-month sprint is nothing. Just keep it in perspective.

Some things that I've found to be helpful:
- Take hot baths. Like uncomfortably hot when you first get in. 43-45 degrees. Thus will force your body to relax if you're overly stressed.
- keep going to the gym. If you don't feel like lifting your usual weights, deload. Just don't lose the routine.
- try CBD oil to help you relax at the end. You don't want to stay in that vicious cycle of being both tired and stressed, because then you'll have a hard time

Have you tried Modafinil, no side effects and its not addictive

Take it with black coffee or green tea to boost your creativity
