RE: The Andrew Yang thread
I’m currently collecting $1000 a month in unemployment insurance (NEETbux!) and it’s not enough money to do much of anything besides buy food, gas and some other basics.

My guess is that if such a UBI were enacted, people would shortly take to the streets and demand more money. Heck, they will have lots of free time to protest.

However I think it would create more pressure to cut back on immigration since that is one of the major drivers of increased housing costs.

If only you knew how bad things really are.

I live in a fourth-tier (not particularly desirable) city and my rent is over $1000 (although housing costs in Massachusetts are out of control.)

Nate Silver tweeting about Andrew Yang

Silver has a solid 3.2 million followers and a massive political platform with his fivethirtyeight.com website.

That's a lot of potential exposure to Yang and his ideas.

He's starting to get some mainstream traction:

RE: The Andrew Yang thread
I have not been paying much attention to what the YG is trying to make of the AY platform, but I watched this earlier today and found it thought provoking... although maybe not in the way the good tuber expected.

Putting aside the intro song, the ad, and those sweet Yang Bucks, the main discourse was on multinational social media companies banning/censoring certain individuals and speech (in certain countries). Mostly the right wingers in western countries. This is always a good subject, basically.

Are there really only two ways to get this beast (at least in the USA) under control?

1) Make currently private and publicly held social media companies subject to government oversight as utilities and therefore subject to absolute First Amendment Rights. How would this work as we're already plugged into the global internet? Firewall the USA off from other countries in some cases or at some times -- such as during critical election seasons?

or

2) Grant the Federal and State governments to create their own political (not social) media platforms -- much like what was done for healthcare and which has come a very long way in just 10-years time of active mandates... and tell the social media platforms to fuck off: you are just for birthdays, family affairs, your wife cucking you, porn, and jokes?! Of course the government system would be based on Voter ID validation for subscription. It would be for only for those who have "skin" in the game.

I can think of a million ways to protect and subvert both 1 and 2.

Is there a third option besides just turning off and dropping out of the electronic world or creating an "alternative" media platform?

Has the die been cast and none of us have a different face or number to present?

I don't think so.

( As a note: I have been a tech man (let's network! :-) for the past 25 years. My pure fiber optic rape of your corrosive copper wires still probably partially contribute to your digital bank, just to say. These questions are not just fancy thinking. They are also a part of good living. When you know the people who run your local convenience/grocery store verses when you don't style. Levels of trust go a long way in this day and age... as they always have.)

RE: The Andrew Yang thread
I like a lot of the discussions that Yang is forcing people to have but if he and trump ran against each other right now I'd slam pick trump.

UBI is the most fresh thing he brings to the table, but the rampant automation he says necessitates it is something on the horizon a decade or two from now, not a pressing problem. As long as it's not pressing, there won't be any support for it on political levels outside of the oval office, so he won't be able to dictator it into existence. It'll end up being just another lofty broken promise. Also aside from third generation rich kids, wealthy people are known to hoard money and be pretty cautious with their spending, so they won't be contributing much revenue through a VAT.

Aside from UBI he's a vanilla swamp democrat who is hipper/more meme savvy than the rest. Meh.

I envision Yang's legacy being a checklist of well thought out pro-UBI arguments that can be referenced in the near future when mass unemployment kicks off for real.

If you want neetbux, wait until congressional candidates and SCOTUS judges and random governors and mayors are pushing for it. Rushing Yang before that point will brand it with the scarlet letter of "failed overambitous idea."

So much wrong in this post aside from voting for Trump; which I might still do. Too early to say right now. Yang has to prove himself to me that he is worthy as a leader among a few other things before I'm willing to take the risk on him at the general election level.

1. Automation is a pressing problem now and has been for over a decade. A good chunk of people are very scared of the new reality and for good reason. It's also something you need to get ahead of and many people actually get that they rather not wait until they are homeless before they figure out a solution.

2. Support will be significant. Proof? Look at how much traction Bernie got in 2016; who was running on Medicare for All and Free College. A lot of eyes rolled on free college (worthless for most people) but 1000 bucks for everyone from a more level headed sounding guy instead of crazy mad scientist looking dude? That is gonna motivate people; especially in a era of increased profits going to the top disproportionately and regular people feeling like they have been getting scraps via no wage growth, minimal promotions, expensive as fuck all healthcare, and virtually no financial security.

3. You don't understand how a VAT works in-combination with a UBI. It's not about forcing rich people to spend nor dependent solely on them spending, it's about giving more disposable income to regular people and encouraging the turning of the economic engine. Turning economic engine = good for everyone including rich people; if not financially, at least from a physical safety perspective. The rich in this country are very scared of a revolt and people coming for them. They know the kettle is boiling and about to pop if pushed much further. Look at Amazon HQ2 in New York as a recent example of non-violent revolt, that could boil over into burning buildings down and/or targeting CEOs very quickly if they can't feed their family.

4. Any of this "it will be a broken promise" or "its pointless voting" stuff is simply bullshit. If everyone had that attitude with Trump, we'd have President Hillary right now. Trump lost his way (for now) and didn't deal with the GOPe correctly; Yang would likely have a democrat majority on-board with his general idea. The democrats are WAY better at acting as a uniform group and getting policy done vs the GOP, who is filled with way too many traitors, cucks, and people too principle for the greater good to get anything done... unless it benefits the donors; then suddenly shit gets done like Tax Cuts for multi-national corporations like Trump did in year 1. Democrats are whores to donors as well but at least they throw something tangible to their voters from time to time.

5. Vanilla swamp democrat? This is a stupid thing to say. He is the only democrat out of like 20 who has NEVER held political office and has no connections to to the DC establishment/swamp apparatus. He has been doing real grassroots work with no name recognition nor MSM support for a long time despite having a very definable and compelling platform.

Look how long he has been officially in the game:

6. It's an ambitious idea. And it might not even be the BEST idea or the best version of the concept. But Yang branding it with a scarlet letter? HAHAHA. If anything, he is about the BEST guy I've seen to present it. If Bernie or AOC did it, THEN it would be hard to take seriously from someone else. Cause it's coming from Bernie or AOC and they are nut jobs who know fuck all about how the world works. Yang is a great ambassador (thus far) for the concept; largely because he is smart as hell, gets some of the big picture stuff (he has acknowledge the white minority possible revolt issue, for example), has a successful business background (not a career politician or bartender loser), and comes off very level headed. For a democrat in 2019, he is the second coming of Christ given the rest of the field.

You wanna talk about someone damaging an important brand on a critical political issue? How about MAGA immigration policy - Trump has all but ruin it for anyone else going forward due to his incompetency and personality. Imagine trying to sell MAGA immigration reform in 2024; that person is going to have so much Trump funk on him or her they will suffocate damn near instantly.

Imagine if someone more refined pushed MAGA immigration concepts and couldn't be called a white nationalist or whatever. The pathetic thing is, some of us held our nose on Trump's short-comings and accepted him as a crude but necessary blunt instrument to unfuck immigration in the US. And now, he has basically cucked out on the issue after wasting TWO YEARS of a goddamn technical majority to work with. Talk about a broken promise and doing catastrophic damage to the brand on a key political issue for many people; going forward for a generation if not longer. For comparison, Hillary tried to do healthcare reform in the early 1990s and the funk of her failure was so bad, the democrats had to wait until 2009 to go after the issue again.

Unfortunately, if you care about the MAGA immigration issue now: it will basically take a violent revolt at this point. Trump pissed away the last great window of opportunity to possibly resolve the problem within the confines of the system. Yang has the next toughest immigration reform policy out of any democrat by a 1000 miles and most of the GOP; who was pushing quick amnesty right before Trump showed up.

I think something people don't really acknowledge is that Yang wants to make illegals wait 18 YEARS for citizenship (while kicking out felons in a 18 YEAR dragnet window).... all the while making them work as the mules to pay in part for the UBI while not receiving it. That's a hell of a lot tougher than anyone else aside from Trump and is actually feasbile to get implemented given the current demographic/political trends?

Unless Trump is gonna:

1. End birth right citizenship (mentioned it a few times... then forgot about it)
2. Kick out 10 million plus illegals - logistically impossible without an army and the overwhelming will of the majority populace
3. Strip anchor baby citizenship - Ethically difficult for many; legally questionable if can be done.
4. Impose a merit based immigration system - Too many cucks in GOP; never gonna happen.
5. Build a wall in at least high traffic areas - Can't even do this simply thing
6 .Close the border to everyone except the Einstien's of the world for 20-40 years. - He wants more legal immigrants for Tim Apple.

... Then the MAGA immigration issue is dead in the water. Accept it and find the next best alternative is the smartest move.

Do you want give the largely SJW current democrat party 10 million plus voters with DAY ONE citizenship when they elect some SJW freak show instead with their super majority? I rather have 18 years to prepare before the massive political shift and maybe, just maybe, hope to moderate the democrat party in that time. A lot can change for the better in two decades. In the end, you have to adapt to changing battlefield conditions. Fighting with an original strategy that is no longer viable is just a suicide mission that wastes precious time, energy, and resources.

That was my first reaction too, good thing they come in different colors. The white one looks best but it'll get dirty easily. The blue and black ones are good second runner uppers.

There's a real positive energy to the Yang memes that's a lot of fun, in a way that supporting somebody like say, Bernie (Or god forbid Kamela "Planet of the Apes" Harris) isn't. It's the same sort of energy that the very best Trump stuff had. Most Trump stuff had kind of a grim, "last stand" "end of the world" feel to it, which was great and all, but the stuff I loved the absolute most had this kind of positive feeling to it.

My very favorite Trump meme was this:

So cool. So fun. Wouldn't it be great to go for a drive with Donald Trump through the neon-lit streets of 1980s New York? Who knows what kind of trouble you might get into, but I bet it would be a night you'd never forget.

Yang's memes kind of have a similar positivity.

How can this not make you smile?

If Yang can translate that positive energy online into the real world, he might be a formidable contender. And if not, at least I get to post a bunch of happy memes, so hey, works out either way, right?

Get real dude.

You of all people calling for HONEST DEBATE? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

It's like talking to the wall with you along with some other people sometimes and I'm not going to engage in pointless back and forths with GOP bootlickers or any other variety of bootlicker. I DO ignore some people and their arguments. You are not entitled to a response for existing.

That said, lets go through some things you have said recently. I wrote the following last week but decided against posting it ultimately. I realized, at the time, I rather just walk away rather than get into a pointless fight with you and call out some of the grade-A bullshit that you throw around. I don't like to get into more personal forum beefs with people but you have this coming now. Frankly, it's a little overdue.

Big mistake poking the bear dude. Let's go.

Short version: You're a hypocrite, arrogant, and unwarrantedly disrespectful. Furthermore, you are not even remotely right in many cases and make very aggressive absolutes based on very flimsy far-fetched assumptions. You do all of the aforementioned frequently. I've shown you the benefit of the doubt with respect, providing very detailed responses to your posts... but you've abused my goodwill. I don't care about your response to this post; this is for everyone else so they can see through your bullshit a bit better.

Yang is trying to consolidate welfare programs.

Yang wants to cut the federal gov't by 20%.

Yang wants to fix healthcare with a real detailed solution; which the GOP with a complete majority and 2 years can't even move the needle on let alone offer up a real solution.

I hope the GOP offers a version of UBI one day but it has way more chance passing right now under the democrats than with the GOP if this forums meltdown over the rise of Yang and the UBI concept is any indication.

Lowering taxes to the bone isn't going to solve the problem. People who make 50k or below pay minimal/zero taxes already. Many of these jobs will be replaced/downsized/have a pay cut due to automation/AI/robots.

Autonomy and freedom? HAHAHAHAHA. You are no different than the blindly loyal democrats.

In the same post, you say this:

Samseau Wrote:Trump traitors are just whores with zero loyalty, right?

Turning your back on Trump when he has done so much right is whore behavior that is unbecoming of a strong man. No one who has such behavior could ever create a strong organization of successful men that stick together through the thick and thin

Freedom and autonomy... until you call a spade a spade and divert from the grand plan of Samseau/Trump orthodoxy.

You (along with some other people) can't even accept that people who have been loyal Trump supporters calling out his bullshit, his numerous bait and switches, his clear incompetent actions, and whom are just ENTERTAINING the idea of voting for an alternative without having a meltdown and going on diatribes about how people are traitor like whores and are weak men.

If that is how you roll, you are NOT selling freedom and autonomy; you are selling the same rotten shit the SJWs are selling (just with a different flavor): Obey or be silenced. Obey or be mobbed and called every name in the book. Obey or be called a traitor. You just don't have full control yet in your fantasy country so you can't bring down the hammer. You would, with 100% certainty, right now if you had the power though.

Thank God Roosh runs this forum and not you. I'm sure myself and others would have been banned by now for expressing the slightest reasonable dissent.

But I see through your bullshit.

It steeps out of many of your posts on the forum. Despite this, I've tried to entertain and have a thoughtful debate about your perspective numerous times; I agree with many of your points in fact. But all I see in return it seems are long winded posts whereby you make a ton of arrogant assumptions and anyone who disagrees with you, you go full blast on them and make your aggressive points... but also throw in the occasional back-handed comment just to feed your ego; gotta end that conservation with the last biting word or the ego won't be satisfied. Doesn't matter if it has anything to do with the conversation or is relevant to the debate.

This is from our back and forth in the Trump thread; a sample of what I'm talking about:

Samseau Wrote:I of course appreciate your service, even if it is the greatest scam on earth in most ways."

If there ever was a quote that encompasses your piss poor arrogant attitude at times, it's this right here. Thank me for my service and then tell me I was part a giant scam when it had NOTHING to do with what we were talking about. Like I said, gotta feed that ego.

Is this how you try to recruit people to vote GOP? Hitting them with passive aggressive back-handed comments? I've done sales work and this isn't how you close deals.

So do everyone a favor and stop selling your version of a post-collapse MAGA fantasy country of suppose freedom and autonomy when what you're really selling is the same tyrannical bullshit we already have from largely both sides of the aisle already.

Ooh, sarcasm! Spicy. That's what really makes for a first-rate discussion, you know, is sarcasm.

I can tell you why I'm excited about Yang, and it's not really because of "feelings". I've said for a long time that the US's best-case option, on its current path, is Brazil with fat, ugly SJWs instead of large-booty-ed Hispanic girls with loose morals, and its worst case scenario would be a nuclear holocaust. I don't find Samseau's idea about a peaceful breakup of states, with Whites retreating to wyoming and forming Whitopia, to be a realistic possibility given the tight level of economic integration of the states, the ease of travel, the US's lack of social cohesion and group identity , and a whole bunch of other reasons that I am currently too drunk to list.

I had thought Trump would help with this problem, though I acknowledged it was a long shot. Trump, however, seems to be very interested in yelling at the media on twitter, and not very interested in doing his job. He's not even trying anymore. This Boeing thing a week or two ago, for instance, when the whole world grounded those deathtrap planes, but Trump kept them flying because he didn't want to hurt Boeing's stock price, was ridiculous. Imagine if a plane had gone down in the US during that time! There wouldn't even be a point in running a Republican in 2020.

We can speculate about the causes of this, but it's not really worth it. It's not like the problem fixes itself if we come up with enough convincing theories on our little message board. MAGA-style protectionism and immigration restriction is now dead as a doornail, and with each tweet about "PRESIDENTIAL HARASSMENT" and "WITCH HUNTS" from its original proponent, it only gets deader and deader. Disappointing, but there you are.

BUT!
Yang has a new idea! An idea that might just work! I've read a lot, and I really haven't seen any solid convincing cases for why it wouldn't. I've seen a lot of stuff that's just wrong ("VATs cause goods to double and triple in price, so even if you get a thousand bucks you won't make any money") or people who seem like they're too beaten down to even consider the possibility seriously ("The democrats would just change it so whites don't get any money") instead.

How can you not feel excited and upbeat about the possibility of not dying in a nuclear holocaust or being ruled over by bitchy, pink-haired, and obese overlords?

EDIT: I forgot to mention the part where Illegals pay the VAT that funds the UBI, but don't get the benefits. It's like having my own army of illegal immigrants slaves to work for me. Instead of them picking my pocket, I'm picking theirs!

They're in my sig, and have helped a lot of people. I cured a dude's tinnitus with those stretch techniques, which is one of the things in life that I'm actually most proud of. (Tinnitus is no fun, and is generally thought to be incurable. Since I cured his incurable disease, I figure that technically makes me a God, or at least some kind of badass sorcerer.)

I'm not sure what this has to do with Andrew Yang, UBI, or memes, though.

Trumplets are like the friend of a girl you banged through social game then later dumped because she was a flaky bitch. So her friend hangs around your social circle making snarky comments and generally stinking up the joint with her bitter acrimony, and when you try to have conversations with other people about other stuff she always circles in and drags it towards what a backstabbing asshole you are.

I dumped your girl Trump because she was a flaky bitch. Can you please fuck off so I can have a nice conversation with other people now, Bianca?

The public will judge a man by what he lifts, but those close to him will judge him by what he carries.

You've consistently ignored the economic criticisms of a VAT tax mentioned in this thread by myself and many others. People aren't going to take you seriously if you don't have a honest debate, and you won't get anyone to vote for your guy on this board.

- He will be labeled a phariah, a David Duke, of the Democrat party.

The dude is talking about giving everyone 1000 bucks a month. That is going to attract EVERYBODY of every color. NO WAY to bullshit that into some white nationalist agenda.

Ok, he gets cucked. Then the revolt starts. Can't really bullshit your way out of not delivering on 1000/month; it's not a vague promise like "Hope" and "Change." Isn't that a win for your agenda of Anarchy in the US and the Great Reset?

But dude, billionaire with a will of his own? Trump has massive independent wealth and has clearly demonstrated substantial unwarranted loyalty and favor to Isreal. His dual citizen anti-MAGA son in law is his right hand man for fucks sake. What are you smoking dude?

You have zero evidence of ulterior motives by Yang. But let's say he was taking advantage of an opening he saw: If he delivers, I don't care.

Oh man this is funny as shit, all I asked for was some kind of answer or rebuttal on how a VAT tax wouldn't inflate the costs of goods and services to fund a lavish $1000/month UBI scheme, and got this rather entertaining meltdown instead.

If I ran a forum, why on earth would I ban such an entertaining member? This is the kind of rambunctious attitude that is fun, at least in small doses! Laugh

Now, I hope I do not come across too arrogant, but, I do not care about your feelings on me bro. It just doesn't matter. It doesn't help us get out of the political mess we are in. Your feelings don't matter and don't mean anything, man.

This is a discussion board. We are not dating. Get a fucking grip! We are here to share thoughts and opinions, I don't give a rats ass if my comment on the US military offends you or whatever. The whole fucking point of a discussion board is to share thoughts and opinions on a wide variety of topics.

No one, and I mean no one, cares who is offended here. Perhaps Reddit would be more your speed? I speak plainly here and share my candid thoughts without worrying or fearing a reprisal. This is a philosophers board; free speech and honest debates.

Of course I do not talk like I post here - you just worry about your social awareness, and I'll worry about mine.

So anyhow, I am not the only guy whose raised objections to the UBI scheme based on a VAT tax. Other members in this thread have raised similar objections to the VAT tax being a regressive piece of shit tax that is actually part of causing revolts in France.

I've already listed the objections to the VAT tax on my other posts in this thread and explain why mathematically, they will hurt the poor more than they help them.

Unless you wanna answer that, I guess I'll stop posting here and the #YangGayBang can continue posting pink hats and hopefully plow through all rational objections for your pedophile candidate that has no chance of beating the other Dem candidates because of identity politics.
