Extremely sick, need advice
I'm not one to make pity me threads online, but I figure I've got nothing to lose by posting this to the RVF community.

I'm been extremely sick for around 3 months now progressively getting worse at an ever-increasing rate. The last 5 days have been pure, sleepless torture.

Being the stubborn guy I am, I put off going to the doctor for the first 2 months thinking I'd get better but it didn't happen. The extra month of delay was due to not having my medical card renewed for the first time ever (talk about bad timing). I ended up paying to go to the doc privately 2 days ago out of desperation.

My entire body is displaying symptoms of some illness that I can't figure out. They include:

•Impaired vision, not by a huge amount but still noticeable. Decreased sharpness of vision, and impossible to fully focus it.

•Headache that never goes away. Radiates around back of the head/neck area. Also pain/pressure in what seems to be the back of my eyeball area (may be the cause of vision problems)

•Farting all all day. Really bad ones. Also have really bad breath all the time.

•Enlarged organs in the left side of my gut area. Extreme gut pain as of the last 5 days

•Difficulty swallowing. Not super difficult, but still have to put some effort in

•Heartburn or general burning sensation in the chest

•Uncomfortable chest area, sometimes feels like something's gonna give out so I breate deep and relax

•Weak lungs/cardiovascular system. I'm out of gas in seconds if I do anything strenuous

•Feel like I'm gonna vomit randomly, never actually happens

•Itchy dick, including what appears to be flaky dick skin under the foreskin

•While this may be a completely seperate issue, wound like cuts, burns and bruises take multiple weeks to heal

I'm lying in my bed now completely debilitated. I've also had to drop out of college as I'm too sick to attend classes.

I went to a private doctor 2 days ago as I've said above. I'm scheduled to do blood tests plus STD tests in the new year. Hopefully I can get some answers then, but the agony I'm in until then just makes me want to reach out to somebody.

The last step for me is to go to the emergency department of the hospital, but I just need to wait a few more days for my medical card. If I go now they'll clear out my bank account and I'm finished.

I'm not one to exaggerate anything, but I know the human body can only take so much. I don't think I could hold out for another few weeks at this rate, or I'll be brown bread.

I'm not a pussy though. I'll fight this and win, I just need a little help/advice.

I'm reaching out to you RVF!

I’m not a doctor and you’d know more with blood tests. Are you diabetic? Bad breath could evoke ketoacidosis but you would already be dead. What have you been eating, low carb? Do you have fever? Do you drink? Do you take a lot of ibuprofen? Have you lost weight?

Other possibilities: chronic erosive gastritis (or other gastritis), colitis, Crohn’s disease, and Whipple’s disease

RE: Extremely sick, need advice
I hate to tell you this, but this is 100% AIDS symptoms. Good luck.

In case you aren't trolling, what do you want? No one can help you on the internet with those serious symptoms, guessing a diagnosis here is pointless, and just dangerous time wasting.

If you have itchy dick, farting you brains out, can't swallow, difficulty breathing, ENLARGED ORGANS etc- you go the doctor. If you are really in that bad of shape, and you just went to the doctor 2 days ago, either you: 1) didn't adequately convey your symptoms and the dire state of things, or 2) the doctor is incompetent, or 3) you are exaggerating. Something isn't adding up. What did the doctor say?

Call that doctors office back today and explain in detail what is happening and how you feel, sometimes they will prescribe something just from the call if they had just seen you a few days ago, without charging for an additional visit. It's worth a shot.

If you can't pay for any further clinic visits or hospital then find a free clinic, there's usually one in every large city. I have no idea where you are, but if you have some kind of government medical coverage sometimes they cover recent past medical expenses within a certain time period- you may be able to have a hospital visit paid for once your medical coverage starts again. Call the appropriate office and ask about that, as well as what other options you may have for getting help right now. You should be pursuing all the possible options if it is this serious.

Good luck.

Man Good Luck to you the king! I'm the first one to admit my distrust in the medical system & their "let's give em some pills for everything " emphasis... but when it comes to Emergency Medical Care to save a Life... Doctors & Nurses are amazing! Really important to differentiate between these 2! Use this scenario to remind you of this! Once Again good luck!

RE: Extremely sick, need advice
@Montrose I'm not diabetic (at least not that I know) but my father is (He's a black man, if that's relevant). Barring the last two days, my diet consists of beef/turkey burgers, sweet potatoes, brocolli, pumpkin bread and whole peanut butter, bananas and oranges 90% of the time.

I'll admit I tend to go overhboard with the bread and peanut butter combo. Haven't had either for a few days to see if it helps. I basically eat no junk food year round.

One of my brothers suggested that it may be some kind of lingering gut issue, IBS or gastritis but I don't know enough about either to really know. I don't take any drugs or drink a lot anymore.

@Globalman I'm hoping and praying that the first part of your post just a joke. I've had a LOT of unprotected sex lately and do get scared after the fact every time. I still consider myself a novice and don't have a gigantic notch count like the best guys on here, but anything's possible.

While I'm pretty confident it's not HIV, if I do have it then I must be one of the unluckiest guys.

The day I finally needed to go to the doctor (3 days ago) it was the day before Christmas. I was lucky to find one practice open as everywhere was closed. The time of year here is just bad for these things. I may just contact my regular clinic and see if they're open again today or tommorow.

Captain Gh I agree 100%. The things we discuss on this forum, improving our lives...etc. Health is one of the pillars of this. I try and live my life free from pharmaceuticals and other toxins (alcohol, drugs, junk food). However, when things get beyond a certain point I believe some man-made substances can be key to keeping you alive. Good medical staff only make things better as well.

@Everyone I know trying to get medical advice over the web is a ridiculous thing. I should be on my road to recovery before long, but right now I'm very sick and waiting for something, anything, even some general information that might help me 1% on my way.

I've seen what's possible on this forum. People often come here with problems in game or fitness and the RVF community lifts them up to new heights. That's what makes this a community that I have such confidence in, because it's already helped me changed my dating life and I know what it's capable of.

Just looking at the wide range of symptoms it looks like most are either gastrointestinal, or cerebral.

It could possibly be some kind of GI parasite. What part of the world do you live in?

Also... it could be some kind of autoimmune issue.

Bottom line is that you should make it a priority to resolve this with a physician. Enlarged organs are a huge warning sign of impending issues.

RE: Extremely sick, need advice
I don’t think it’s worth going to emergency because your case doesn’t seem to be an emergency (in the medical sense - it’s still a bit urgent). Do the blood test quickly, and you should see a gastroenterologist, they may prescribe a colonoscopy and gastroscopy, perhaps a soundscan for your other organs. But it could be an infection too.

If it’s HIV it would mean that it’s already AIDS phase which is only possible if you’ve had HIV for years. HIV primo-infection is rarely that bad and usually includes sore throat, fever, and skin rash. In any case you will know from the blood test.

@EndsExpect (the quote button doesn't work or something)

What do you mean by 'cerebral' exactly? Any specific conditions, names..etc?

One thing I should mention: I notice that any time my gut isn't right it seems to affect the mind. I've heard other people say the same. If I don't eat well or have a stomach bug I can actually feel the difference when I'm out in public. Increased anxiety, irritability, mood swings and other symtpoms that seem like they come from the head.

Not suffering with any of the above now though, just putting it out there for some background information.

The house I live in is also extremely damp, and requires extensive use of a dehumidifier. I sleep on the floor because it's more comfortable, but there's carpet in my room and I only recently found it that carpets can be host some nasty little organisms. Also I live in Western Europe.

I'm gonna give my regular clinic a call now and try to speed things up a little.

@Montrose Ok that's a slight relief. I'm in my early twenties so doubt I would even be in the time window for full AIDS development. I only lost my virginity when I was 16.

As I've stated above I'm about to call my clinic and try to push for bloods this week.

Call an ambulance or someone needs to cart you to a hospital. What you have sounds beyond what a regular general practitioner can handle and you are not in good enough shape to wait for one.

Check for syphilis as well, second stage syphilis enlarges the spleen.

@Burnermail82 I agree. The GP from 3 days ago couldn't provide any conclusive answers as my symptoms were 'non-specific'. I'm out of the bed now and just lounging around, but I've just contacted my clinic to accept my medical card. Once they approve it (hopefully today) I'll be able to go there asap.

@Montrose Interesting. I'll keep that in mind. I want to test for everything I can. I'm a young guy who doesn't have experience with STDs so there's just a lot that I don't know. Hooking up with heavily tattooed females surely hasn't done me any favors either.

Your symptoms do not sound like STD at all. Possibly second stage syphilis.

Zero further internet diagnoses should be given. It is irresponsible to give them or receive them, impossible to be accurate, and completely pointless.

RE: Extremely sick, need advice
Sounds like Mononucleosis to me. My best friend had it in college and I knew a lot of other people who had it.

-Fatigue
-Sore throat, perhaps misdiagnosed as strep throat, that doesn't get better after treatment with antibiotics
-Fever
-Swollen lymph nodes in your neck and armpits
-Swollen tonsils
-Headache
-Skin rash
-Soft, swollen spleen (Upper left side of torso)

It's somewhat common but can put you out of commission for weeks or even months, and you could rupture your spleen. Get your ass to a doctor ASAP.

It could be lupus. You'd better have that checked out.

@Eddie Winslow

I just did a quick google search because I'd never heard of that illness. Turns out it's also known as 'glandular fever' which I'm familiar with. I was hospitalised for a week with it a few years ago.

Really interesting. It literally hadn't crossed my mind until now. My glands are slightly enlarge and swallowing is difficult so it makes sense.

Not jumping to any conclusions here but thanks for bringing it up.

RE: Extremely sick, need advice
These threads always make me shake my head at two things...

1. How bad the American health system is that people are genuinely afraid to go to a doctor as the first, second and third thing they do when anything is slightly wrong and then compounded by it taking a week to get blood tests done, I mean you hear stories but that's frightening.

2. That people actually come online looking for help instead of going to a doctor regardless. Whatever money you have is worthless to you if you, god forbid, end up dead because you didn't go to the doctor in time or make whatever is wrong with you 10x worse because you didn't go to a doctor in time.

It's genuinely scary that a first world country has created this scenario.

Seriously though, wish you the best, but go to a damn doctor asap and don't leave until he's doing something about it.

You got cancer of the syphilis aids but don't worry it's not a STD.

If everyone come back negative then stop being a hypochondriac. Dry penis is probably from choking the chicken too much and it's normal not to feel like a spring chicken after age 25 (so long as it isn't like that for months at a time).

I did, he saw a doctor after 3 months of these symptoms. On top of that after seeing the doctor he still has to wait another 2 weeks from then to do simple blood work, I mean I could understand 48 hours if he has to do a urine test that requires first pass but anything more than that is just an absurd failure of the health system. The point stands.

I mean honestly, if I had pretty much any of those symptoms for a week I'm going to a doctor and I'm going to keep going until the problem is solved. Hell I go to the doctor for a checkup and blood work a couple of times a year anyway just to be sure of things.

Go and see a doctor and get actual results, if your doctor tells you a symptom list that long and, quite frankly, scary is "non-specific" you need to find a better doctor, not wait another week after you already waited 3 months to see this guy.
