Booking a one-way to South America on Jan 16. Must-sees? Anyone around?
I've decided to book a one-way ticket to SA on Jan 16th for my first trip to down there.

So far, I am planning:

Colombia - Medellin, maybe Cartegena?

Argentina - BA, Cordoba

Brazil - Rio, Floripa

Anyone have any thoughts/suggestions? Also, anyone around? Would be good to meet some RVFers down there...

Cheers.

There are lots of must sees, depends on what you're looking for. Just game? Tourism? Nature, urban, cultural activities?

Anyway, I'd add Bogotá and Cartagena in Colombia.
Plus Peru (Lima, Cuzco) to and Chile if you have time.

I think you're choosing shitty places to go to in Colombia.

But if you are gonna go to Colombia, Argentina, Brazil. Then make sure you have your yellowfever shot 10 days before you leave for your trip, otherwise go Brazil last before returning to USA. If you go to Brazil first and then try to go to Colombia without your yellow fever, the can very well prevent you from boarding at the gate. Happened to me a few months ago. I can't tell you about Argentina, I would never go there.

If you want my advice on places to visit,

Florianoplis, Bogota, and Lima are good for first timers.

Some ideas:

In Colombia, you might want to take a trip to Leticia and visit the Amazon.
The nightlife in Bogotá is great and it's a very lively city regardless.
Perú has the best food in South America and is a very unique country culturally. It's worth a visit even if you don't do the Machu Picchu trip (although it's worth doing it). Lima has some of the best restaurants in the world.
Ecuador has a lot of nature sights and you can visit the Galápagos islands. Don't bother with the cities.
Southern Argentina and Chile share the Patagonian region. It's a must a see. Beautiful mountains and landscapes. Lots of bangable tourists in hostels.
Chile is not great for gaming but it's a very nice country, worth a visit. Santiago is cool and Valparaíso is full of charm.
Uruguay has a Miami-ish city, Punta del Este, that can be fun in high season. Montevideo is boring.
Paraguay is good for shopping, not much else AFAIK.
Never been to Bolivia. I've heard good things about Santa Cruz de La Sierra, though.
Brazil is huge, it's a big as the US, there's a lot to do in there. You can spend a year just traveling through Brazil.
If you're going to Rio you might want to hop into a flight to Sao Paolo (1h flight) for a couple of days to check the nightlife out.
There are lots of beach paradises in the Northeastern region, like Jericocara or Ilheus.

Outside of Colombia I liked Perú the best. For both women and tourism. Chile and Argentina are both good but don't come close to Peru unless you go to. The southern regions for tourism.

Why isn't Uruguay talked about much?

It's not a very interesting place. Small country with one relatively large city (Montevideo, ~1.5mi population), one tourism/party city that is only relevant in high season and attracts South American nouveau riche (Punta), and some lesser known smaller beach towns. Uruguay gets lots of Argentine and Brazilian tourists. Overall, it's a good place to retire in.

The typical Uruguayan looks like a white Spaniard. The girls, in general, are not very cute. Uruguayans tend to be nice and friendly, but still somewhat reserved. Social circle is king, but I'm sure you could get laid with a decent Tinder profile or persistent day game. Not a great gaming destination IMHO.

Depends what you are into. Traveling to see the country and get cool pictures or traveling to bang the local woman? Doing both is not time efficient. You need to pick one.

It sounds like one of the safest countries in South America.

Are the Argentine and Brazilian tourists easy to bang?

Uruguay is supposed to be expensive for LA standards, that is probably one of the reasons not many go there. Also it's almost like if you are going that far you might as well go to Argentina which seems to beat it in almost every category. I haven't visited either country just from what I've read and seen on videos.

Absolutely. It's very safe.

It depends. For Argentines, it's almost like a domestic vacation. Uruguay is "mini Argentina". So their famous Rioplatense shields will still be up. For Brazilians, if they're rich girls showing off in Punta they'll be hard to bang, but if they're middle class girls staying in a budget hotel they'll probably be easy. If you're really curious about Uruguay, I'd suggest spending some time in Argentina or southern Brazil during summer and flying there for a few days. It's a short fight. 3 days in Punta and 1-2 days in Montevideo are enough.
