Interesting. I know a few people who seem incapable of 'internal' thinking. For them 'thinking' seems to require talking. Silent contemplation seems impossible for them.

"Instead they just act on one or the other." - I call these 'dog' people. They are operating on the level of a German Shepard. Driven by instinct and emotion, never able to form a plan, just execute an impulse. Not really fully human.

This must be why I never took to alcohol despite being surrounded by it, the best conversations I ever have/had I was there, mind and soul and logic. I want to be there and on point. I swear I have the opposite problem that people with "anxiety" have, where I'm desperately craving stimuli, or a spacecraft autocorrecting its angle second be second, I cant figure how to get less of the bad and more of the good if my judgement ain't there. I trust it even if I don't, because what other choice do any of us have, because its god given and all we will ever have, so polish it out in the open proudly and EVERYTHING gets easier. Becomes more approachable, the roads and hills rise to meet you.
