Looks like i'll only have time for 1 on this trip. I've been reading a lot of really mixed reviews about Bali and that pretty much all the girls worth banging there are ones who come down from Jakarta, so I assume it's a given when it comes to getting flags. Bali seems to be absolutely stunning though and i've heard surf there is great. Does Jakarta compare at all in other aspects (food, culture, fun)?

I'm probably gonna spend a few days there.

No, they are a world apart. Bali is arguably the most fun and gorgeous place I've ever been whereas Jakarta is probably the most grim, sketchy place that I've ever been.

If it's just a short trip though and your goal is local girls then I'd say go to Jakarta now and then go to Bali when you have a little more time and can enjoy the scenery, parties etc without being in a rush to get girls (and maybe back to Jakarta too if you like it).

When are you going and how long have you got? What are your main objectives/priorities you want to get out of your trip?

If you're into nightlife, banging hot fun club girls and you're there for the weekend then Jakarta. Midweek however its much quieter for clubbing.

Bali is certainly a nicer place to chill out in with it's island vibe, sipping cocktails in shorts and a linen shirt in one of the many quality dayclubs there. It does tends to get a lot of bum reviews where dudes will only go to the main shithole tourist area (Kuta) and assume the entire island is like that.

That said picking up in Bali certainly isn't as straightforward as JKT (tho by no means impossible). Just the local girls have been jaded by the thirsty aussie dudes and and a much higher % of them are on the meter. You'll also notice this dynamic reflected in the general tinder selection which is awash with brass and ladyboys. Of course there are many more white tourist chicks there as compared to JKT, but I find they tend to be less hot, make zero effort to doll themselves up at night, and generally aren't worth the effort. That said a buddy recently spent some time up in Canggu and apparently there are loads of hot white chicks staying up there doing their eat, pray, fuck lifestyle (inevitably on some other dude's dime). Plus the nightlife has recently come alive up there now with the dayclubs staying open late and putting a bit of a party on (that said Bali is highly seasonal so this likely wont be so much the case after September, but i am assuming you're travelling soon). So that could be worth a crack. You certainly get a lot less aussie dude twattery up there. Next time I'm in Bali I'm going to give Canggu a whirl.

Jakarta is fantastic for nightlife and has some great restaurants and bars. But during the day there aint much to do other than hang out in a mall somewhere (or sleep off the night before or continue to bang the chick you brought home).

If your top overriding priority is getting laid and you love nightlife then Jakarta all day long. If you're looking to chill out more and do more stuff during the day and prefer an island over a city vibe, then Bali.

Just came from Bali. I second Canggu as a chill place to be and a lot of solid, mostly foreign women fucking about. I was pretty surprised by the lack of nightlife, with one popular beach club (I think it was Finn's) closing before midnight on a Saturday. Party-wise Seminyak was the best area when I went, and though the nightclubs aren't close to on level with Jakarta's, they were still a lot of fun with a lot of mingling women.

We were trying to figure what everyone living there did for money. The most common answers: travel blogging, starting my own company, online poker, and most of all, just, like, living. So basically everyone except the club owners are either on vacation or jobless.

I didn't do much but felt like daygame would work well along the Seminyak beach bars.

Uluwatu in south bali was also a sweet trip both for the beaches and the women, though there isn't anything in terms of clubs. Many vacationing couples and groups, the latter being fairly easy to make friends with during the day.

Jakarta is an uglier city with more beautiful women.
