The average age when women want to marry is approaching 30. This pushes the men’s first time marriage age higher. In the early 30s the average husband’s SMV surpasses the average wife’s and this has been the mechanism for most marital infidelity in history. The husband is often the same man who was rejected from the SMP when he was in his teens and 20s when his wife was a participant.

So when younger women finally show sexual interest in the married man when his wife begins refusing sex (but still demands financial support), it’s a temptation that is hard to deal with.
