I'm French/Irish, born in one and have spent considerable time living in both countries. When someone asks my nationality I pick either one, depending on which will likely do better in the situation I'm asked. If I'm talking to an Irish or Scottish girl I'm obviously going to up my Frenchness, but if I'm talking to an American girl I'm going to up my Irishness. Its just playing the odds.

Mikestar, from the sounds of things, has a comparable multinational background and does similar. Theres nothing "unconfident and weak" about him choosing how best to represent himself - its just being smart. In considerable parts of the world he'd get more respect being Polish than British these days - any Mediterranean European country that has extensive experience with British tourists, most of Eastern Europe, lots of ex-British colonies etc.

Pretending you're Polish will do you no favours whatsoever, despite it being a pleasant country.

I have a hard enough time convincing girls I'm British, as I look Eastern European.

What happens when you are Scottish and you tell a girl you're from Krakow, and she goes on to say how her favourite men are Jocks and she masturbated to Braveheart.

And how do you know, have you tested this theory? When I went to Mexico there was a British dude in my hostel and the latin girls called him a gringo. I on the other hand was not referred to as a gringo weirdly enough. They had never met someone from Poland so my exotic factor was through the roof, however Brits and Aussies they were used to all the time. The only point of reference for Mexicans of Polish people was Pope John Paul II (thanks pope for getting me putang) but many people loved me because of my nationality. So tell me, are you sure being Polish brought me no favours in that instance?
