I think that you have a bunch of good suggestions in this thread. I'll provide you with a bit of advice that continues to get me unfucked everytime that I've experience similar scenarios in my life.

1. Workout, Everyday. Get your ass to the gym everyday, and complete a workout of some sort. You can lessen depression significantly simply by getting your body moving. Couple this with a low carb diet and plenty of water. Veggies, high quality meats, and good fats. Once your body is feeling better, you will have more energy, and you can then parlay this into increasing your life quality elsewhere. You can also join a sports team to build a social circle.

2. Allot a time to go out and meet people every week, 2 times a week is great. You are going to do this not just for women, but to meet like minded individuals, and show them who you are. I have made friends out on the town just because we are looking to meet girls and we team up for the night, next thing you know we're working out together and building a friendship.

3. Learn a skill/hobby that interests you. This can be whatever you want that makes you feel excited. It could also be an additional income stream. Your problem is that you are in an uninspiring environment, and that would eat away at any person. You've been doing the same thing for 7 years? Time to get moving and on to the next thing. Dead end jobs are the basis of all depressing lives.

4. Drop the nonsense out of your life. Youtube, social media, etc, is just an escape and entertainment. You need to realize that it isn't making you better unless you're using it to sell to others, or learn something. By simply limiting your time to less than an hour doing this, you will be miles better off. I have an app on my phone that tracks my usage of apps during the day, and I try to keep it under an hour and a half total for the day. You realize you waste a lot of time, and you're not getting it back.

5. NoFap is a good idea. I feel momentously better when I forgo this, and have more energy for the things that matter in life, like making money, making friends, and maintaining relationships.

6. The suggestion about waking up at the same time everyday is an excellent one as well. I find that if I sleep in late, I have a garbage day. Set a schedule for sleep and waking up. I am in the process of this, as I know that I am much more productive and happy when I am up early, get a workout in, and then crush the rest of my day.

Each day is a gift, and you need to make the most out of every single one you're given. You could die tomorrow, and the people telling you that "29 is young" don't realize that it could all be over in an instant. You don't have time to fuck around, you don't have time to not reach your potential. You need to cherish life and put your all into every moment.

1. Sleep. Find out what you need to do to get 7 or 8 hours of quality sleep every night, then do it.
2. Diet. Eliminate shit food. It takes time and money to eat a high quality diet, and it's worth it. I phase through paleo and ketogenic diets. I don't know about veganism, I guess it works for some people. What works for you?
3. Exercise.

The male friends thing is interesting. I'm fortunate to have very good friends, and as I look back, it's mostly attributable to my career choice; military, then civilian pilot. Can you make friends with high quality masculine men in the nursing profession? It might be possible, but it's something to think about.

Not sure about that actually, but in scandinavia there are way more male nurses than like US If Im correct, so its not super female dominated. Masculine, probably not, very few males here are especially masculine.

I would probably have to join maybe a martial arts class to find masculine males, or a mc gang lol!

Apply Suits method to making new friends. With this caveat:

Real friendships take six months or more to develop. Since you feel like shit, you can’t wait that long for results. You have to find a way to manage your social isolation for the time that you are working to break out of it.

When I get lonely while traveling, I have a specific protocol to go through. I do it every single time. That way I stay sane despite the huge stressor that loneliness can be. Building friendships is a medium term goal that takes at least 6 months before your work pays off.

Going back to university is a great step. But it’s not a magic pill.

Were You lonely in high school? Then you’ll probably stay lonely in college as well.

You need a plan and momentum. Listen to Suits.

All the advice given here is applicable, but you also have to take into account the energy that you will spend to obtain each habit. I would suggest that you do it one by one. If you start doing all of those things at the same time you will burn out in a very short period of time. At least change some existing habits to improve your life.

If you spend 2-3 hours walking in the forest, perhaps you can spend an hour walking around the city and see expand your comfort zone with regards to socializing. If you live within walking distance between your future apartment and the shops, then go by foot. You get exercise and maybe socializing along the way. Make a system that will allow you to be somewhat productive even in the situations I mentioned above.

When you measure your progress, do not compare yourself against others. I know we hear this all the time but it's such a good piece of advice that few people follow. Obviously you have to think to yourself 'I lived the last 10 years of my life alone without picking up any healthy habits' to get your ass into gear, but leave it at that. Set a goal that is challenging and doable for you and work your way up from there.

I'm not as old as you are, but I did waste a lot of precious time worrying what other people can do better than me, including things I did not care about. I'm just thankful that I caught it early enough and I'm improving.

Firstly, life SUCKS. Life is hell and being born on this shitty earth is the worst thing that could happen you. That said, you live in the best of best times since creation of human life, and yet you still complain because you cannot manage autopilot western society. Don't worry - I am too, but then I quickly remind myself that I'm even fucking lucky to be alive. If it was 100 years ago, 500 years ago, or hell, even during the fucking WW2 I would already be raped and my family slaughtered and raped to the gun-point (most likely).

So, just embrace what you got while you try to make your life here less miserable and try to take joy from simple things. I'm all in about self-improvement, eating healthy, working my ass-off, lifting and all this stuff. Fuck, I don't even have to time to go on a date and get laid except for late saturday and friday night, but just like Tyler Durden has said in Fight Club - self-improvement is indeed fucking masturbation, so imo don't rely only on improving yourself, just improve your life. Get out there and do what you do, quit your shit job which you don't like (although you are probably paid medium wage and that's more than enough to not fucking complain about not having enough without putting in the work in Norway btw), start doing things you actually want, and most important imo is to SPEED UP your life. Go on dates, meet people, fuck around, let the adventure carry you. Whatever. You have enough data to figure out what will work for you cause this is the most important point - figuring out what will work for YOU. Some people need to wake up at 6 am and go to bed at 10 pm every single day or they are going crazy. Others need to live in chaos and appreciate random elements in their life and get utterly bored when living around the clock. Do what you gotta do, don't let yourself stagnate and try to do as many things in life as you fucking like because you never know when you will not be able to do them anymore.

You said you are going back to school. I would recommend going to trade school to learn plumbing or welding etc etc. This way you are not in huge debt/spend a lot of your savings for tuition and can start working as an apprentice making money that grows each year until you complete your required hours.

Then again I don't know you. Just go over all of your options and see which one suits your goals and desired lifestyle.

The standard Rooshv-unfuck-yourself starter pack of eat healthier, squats, pick up a martial art, learn a language will have little effect. That's the sort of pill you recommend to Americans where self improvement proportionally and directly improves your life.

I believe yours might be one of the few cases where self improvement is NOT the right action. You would be better off changing your environment. Either move to a large Scandi city or leave that region altogether.

You do not strike me as loud, ADD and uber ambitious like a lot of American posters seem to be. I just don't thinka veggie juice in the morning and switching to organic milk will help you much.

More inclined to believe that a high voltage shock is what you need. Maybe 3 months in the Brazilian Amazon or Island hopping in the Antilles. Some sort of exposure to what the real world is like to get perspective and a break from the routines and rigidity of Scandinavian society.

Definitely go travelling buddy. That will open your mind in ways you wouldn't expect. Even if its a 3 week break.. Go somewhere outside of europe and preferably 3rd world.

The sum total of all those smells sights sounds new people new perspectives will open your mind.
Go bungeeing, surfing, zorbing, do yoga, meditation retreats - also if I was you, try and do it tough.. local transport, local food, local guesthouses even more stimuli.

( I would plus one on the getting a trade, as opposed to nursing - especially if your education is free.

Traveling is something I would need to do, for sure. Ive also had alot of thoughts these days and I can basicly boil down almost all of my problems to not having a good group of friends, I really do believe thats the thing Im the most miserable about.

I was about 29 around the time I finally slowly started getting my life together. I was living at home with my folks, was unemployed and between jobs, really had no passions, no direction, etc.

Here's one thing to keep in mind, very few if any of your friends have it figured out or feel confident in what they are doing, everyone feels clueless, even those a bit ahead of you in life.

I was basically where you are at your same age and fast forward about 5 years and I have a business doing over 3 million per year in sales, bought a new house, and overall thigns are going pretty good. Not saying you have to wait 5 years either, things slowly over time started improving and kept getting better.

here's the tough part. Right now you feel like shit and therefore probably don't wanna do shit, you don't feel confident, your waiting for the motivation. You can't wait for motivation to feel inspired, you have to get out there and start doing shit even though you dont want to and that's where the motivation will start to happen.

The sooner you start doing stuff slowly your life will start improving, things will start getting better, you'll feel more motivated and self confident, etc.

I would think about things in terms of health ie physical and mental, friends and family or relationships, career and finance. Do something small each day to improve in each of those areas and occasionally grade yourself and see if one area is suffering.

Set a small achievable goal whether it be 30 minutes at the gym, a set of calastetics, start a youtube channel or blog, make plans with a friend or join a meetup group, etc.
