It's more complicated than that.

Hezballah didn't exist before the Israeli occupation of South Lebanon.

Palestinian refugees didn't exist before they were kicked out of their homes.

And the American Israeli plan was always to settle the Palestinians in Lebanon so at some point they lobbied for the army to step back from the Palestinians hoping to create a fait accompli and have the naturalisation happen. It was hard to gauge this just like they couldn't gauge isis/nusra.

The Lebanese and Palestinians are both to blame for their idiocy but they were and are just pawns in a bigger game.

Geopolitics are one thing, but it's not that the Muslims were some historical snowflakes who traipsed peacefully through the meadows for 1400 years until Isreal came along:









Currently Islam is contained in Lebanon through sheer force after a prolonged conflict. But it's akin to living with a bunch of wild tigers. You can never let your guard down.

Lebanon's literally one of the safest places in the modern world, with some of the most intelligent people you'll ever encounter. Well, we'll encounter. You won't. You'll stay nice and 'safe' in like...rural Maine.
