I am a bit disappointed though. Spain played much better, Portugal was Ronaldo plus 10.

I had some high hopes in the youngsters Gonçalo Guedes, Bernardo Silva and Bruno Fernandes, but today they showed that they are still very green for this. We need to field the more experienced players that won the Eurocup like Adrien Silva, Joao Mario and Quaresma.

In the defense though is the opposite, Fonte looks old and slow, maybe because of playing now in China he lost the rythm in this part of his career, I would bet on the young Ruben Dias. Also Cedric can be easily replaced with Ricardo Pereira, much more fast and a bigger offensive threat.

Portugal's team this year, from what they showed so far, definitely does not look promising. Very disorganized, sluggish, and stiff-legged especially in the case of the newcomers. Quaresma is definitely a a monster in terms of energy, offense, and aggressive play. I can understand keeping him benched until later plays as a backup and compliment to Ronaldo. He definitely helped Portugal in terms of reaching Spain's goal perimeter as well as taking some of the heat off of Ronaldo. We'll just have to see if the overall team shapes up on the next match.

Great game! Six goals, two great teams, but it can be sumarized in just one word: Ronaldo!

An hat-trick in the World Cup against Spain its something really special.

De Gea will be having nightmares tonight.

That last free kick sealed the deal, that was awesome to watch live.

Apparently he's gotta pay $21.7 million and a 2 year jail term for what amounts to tax evasion.

It's a suspended jail sentence. He's not going to jail.

He can afford that amount, he's worth over 400 million $.

RONALDO! Deserved tie, even though Spain had an illegal first goal due to a foul by Diego Costa on Pepe (AS USUAL, dirty Costa).

The problem with Portugal was playing against one of the top 5 global teams AND the fact that Fernando Santos decided to field William Carvalho and João Moutinho. Completely useless. He had much better midfielders on the bench.

Either way, we can do this and pass to the next round. LETS GO!

Real love involves real hatred: whoever has lost the power of moral indignation and the urge to drive the sellers from temples has also lost a living, fervent love of Truth."

2 years suspended, won't ever see jail. Pretty good considering he evaded taxes on more than 150 million, and even that is probably only the amount they could prove. Imagine the sentence for evading taxes on 150,000 for a regular guy.

He won't see jail time. Hes offered to pay a fine on top of everything in order to avoid a jail sentence. He will pay back that money without issue. That would be like the average guy owing a couple grand in back taxes.

Can't wait for my team Mexico to make history and beat a perennial favorite in Germany.

Every single analyst is counting Mexico out, but I got faith in Chuky Lozano, Chicharito and Tecatito Corona and company to come out victorious Banana. Vamos Mexico!!! I got faith in you.

Be careful if you are visiting - if you hear an Allahu Akbar - run. If you hear a bomb blast in your vicinity it's likely too late already.

There wont be a peep out of the fuckers. The biggest potential headache for Russia could come from it's next door neighbour to the south west.

The problem is that Ronaldo isn't going to score a hat trick in every match. Great performance yesterday, no question, but they would need to improve as a team to have a real shot.

Spain always start slow at tournaments, it's just a matter of if they can come together. A draw is a good result because it'll get them more focused as a team after the shitshow these past couple of days with their coach abandoning the team two days before the World Cup. Hopefully De Gea in particular will take some modafinil or something to improve his focus on the field; Iker would have done much better back in his prime.

A man who procrastinates in his choosing will inevitably have his choice made for him by circumstance.

I thought Ronaldo had been somewhat disappointing the last couple of seasons (by his standards), but definitely back to 2010 form last night. Incredible.

I remember some out of character mistakes for De Gea at the last Euros, as well. I think he bottles it a bit when he really cares, for his national team, vs being an incredible mercenary for United.

The games aside, I have to say I like the officiating so far. Refs are letting the games flow naturally without bs yellow cards. And they're not buying some of the diving that's going on.

Good shit, Fifa. Keep it up.

Messi failing again.

The difference between Ronaldo and Messi is their confidence. Ronaldo is a super confident alpha who believes he can do anything while Messi is a shy introvert.

Messi is more talented but Ronaldo has the killer instinct.

Not impressed with France or Argentina so far. I don't see either making it past round of 16. Argentina maybe not even there. Sad for all the talent each team has.

Yeah, even Maradona said in a conversation with Pele that Messi has no personality and lacks the personality to be a leader. Messi got so mad that he didn’t invite Maradona to his wedding.

Is Maradona right?

Agree with Messi having the personality of a sea cucumber, but Pancho, take Maradona`s saying with a grain of salt, the guy is burned in the head because of all the drugs he did.

I definitely agree about Messi and that's why i prefer Ronaldo. Ronaldo has done it in 3 countries AND his national team. He's got a trophy working with less than Messi. This Argentina team is going to be what spain was before 2008. Perennial Underachievers.

Aside though i'm really loving VAR and the goal line technology. I used to be against technology but it's working really well.
