Great red wine. Shows class. If they like red wine, they'll appreciate it. If they don't yet, they'll still pretend to because they understand they will need to eventually. You're doing them a favor either way. I particularly recommend a blended red called The Prisoner. Delicious (expensive).

Why waste fine wine on a girl that knows nothing about wine? I save my top wines for when friends who know and appreciate good wine come over.

Marginal value of anything over $10 drops steeply. This is of course only if budget is a concern and you yourself don't mind drinking cheaper stuff.

Make a caipirinha style drink but use rum or vodka instead of cachaça, say you learnt how to make it in Brazil. One of the simplest cocktails to make yet one of the best tasting and not expensive either. It's just spirits, ice, fresh lime and sugar.

I don't agree with wasting fine wines on people who don't appreciate them. I like to drink them myself. Better off with a cheap bottle and tell them it's a fancy, expensive, one if they know nothing about wine they won't know you're talking shit.

I think this is a fair point. But for me it's about congruency, my own enjoyment, living the good life as well as efficacy. I think there's also an argument to be made that women above a certain age can tell good wine vs. bad wine, just like they can often tell if you're wearing a nice suit versus a shitty suit (without being experts on either). Why wear Brioni when you can wear Men's Wearhouse? To me it's the same answer. I'm not in it to trick a girl, I'm in it to make the best experience for both of us. If you can afford it, anything that adds to that goal helps with the seduction. Believe me when I say busting out great wine makes a difference. I think there is also a feeling to drinking vino tinto that lessens the fear of "this guy is trying to get me wasted" in comparison to mixed drinks.

Would never bother with it with young girls, but when you're more established, dealing with older women and that's your lifestyle I can see why it's a strong play.

I like to make myself a gin screwdriver and offer the lady a choice of my bar. She chooses a liquor and I make her a drink. Usually i'll mix it with coke or a juice so I can make it decently strong without her tasting so much of the alcohol.

Caipirinha....a brazilian cocktail.
It uses Cachaça, sugar, and lime. Not only is it easy to make (The cachaça may be tough to find depending on your location), but it's something new and exciting that she has probably never had...also an indicator that you are well travelled, which will probably have her jumping you pretty soon anyways.
Orrrr red wine = giggles = easy to kiss a girl who's laughing = great night.

i just found out about UV vodka. they make a bunch of different flavors at 60 proof like cherry, pink lemonade, birthday cake.

chicks seem to go for the birthday cake flavor.

take a couple celebratory shots..

college age chicks don't know alcohol..So i figure there's no point in overdoing it with a fancy drink.

when i hosted small parties it made no difference what the girl drinks.as long as it taste good to them.

Another vote for caipirinhas. Order one when you're at a bar to see what it's like. It's a fresh, crisp, clean tasting drink, and it's easily 50% hard liquor by volume - the rest is just icewater, sugar and lime juice. If you're just drinking for yourself, you can try skipping the sugar and sipping slowly, especially with a decent cachaca like Leblon. You feel the alcohol quickly too. Going to try this on my next few dates. Minimal ingredients, easy to prepare, high 'impact factor', tasty, exotic, ok price ($22 for Leblon 750ml) - hits all the right notes.
