In Kiev, many hotels actually cancelled peoples reservations to "reset" the availability of the rooms for a 10x higher price than normal. In sure airbnb hosts are looking to maximize their profits.

Remember also that Moscow is not a cheap city, a decent flat will be around 70-80$ normally if you wanna live in the centre.

Also understand that 90% of girls who are not married are living with parents until they are close to 30, so going to her place is not an option.

In Kazan it seems the fairly standard apartments have doubled the prices and it doesn't even seem that busy.

^ Also on SIMs, I was refused a SIM at the airport as I don't have a Russian passport. You can get one at most shopping centers.

There was one at Sparrow Hills (Vorobyevi Gory) near the Moscow State University (the biggest of the 7 Stalin "skyscrapers") during the Euros in 2012. Lots of kids but some talent here and there.

Here is the full list of them, you may have to Google map them for specific directions as I heard public transport is not dubbed in English yet.

I've been looking places in center of Moscow. It's minimum $150-200 if you want in center. Shitty apt's as well.

Wow, that's a steal for the center. I rented my flat out for an average of about $500 a night during the WC.

I decided to go after Russia made getting a visa extremely easy (buying a ticket to game includes a visa) and will hit up St Petersburg, Moscow and either Sochi or Kazan.

Still trying to finalize where I am going. Should be expensive but fun!

I'm going, arriving in Moscow at the 28th of June.
and then will go to QF in suchi
and to st Petersburg for the first Semi and then to Moscow for the second game. I'll be around till 17.7

you can find Airbnb rooms still for below 50$ a night...
in moscow.
mosocw has got a good transportation system so you dont have to be right in the center of the city
the fan zone area of Gorki park should be a cool place to hang out in.
locals + WC tourists (brazilian, argentine...yumm)

I finally booked all the apt's in Moscow, St Petersburg, Nizhy and everything. Finally, I'm relaxed.

Flight tickets went insane lately. I see round-trip from anywhere in Europe really for €500, if you don't return late July

I'll probably fly home from Kaliningrad after the group stages because of the terrible accomodation & flights situation. FIFA is an absolute mafia.

Every World Cup is best during group stage because you get to watch 3-4 games per day and all fans from every country goes to host country.

I don't really like to stay after group stage anyway because half of the teams get eliminated and so many people leave.

Loving it. So many men will leave European cities to get drunk, spend hard earned money and watch 22 men running back and forth on the grass kicking a spherical leather bag. So much less competition for the women Banana

My country (USA) didn't qualify, and thus, I've adopted two other teams having lived in both countries for extended periods of time. I put $175 on Colombia to win at 35/1 and $25 on Panama to win at 400/1. I currently live in St. Petersburg so I'm hoping that I can find some scalped tickets for a game here. I already have tickers to see Colombia vs. Senegal in Samara.

Jheeze $25 on no hopers Panama? Even $175 on Colombia seems super optimistic. But i guess you'll be laughing all the way to the bank if it comes in.

I'll be backing Brazil. But the real money is in topscorer/winner combo bet. e.g Brazil/Neymar is 25/1 and that's the lowest combo of the whole tournament.

So i'll be doing a few of them. Makes the tournament a lot more interesting later stages too. Can't wait to get to Russia.

An update, this is now incorrect. From Feb 2018, new law came in which means the sim will work in majority of Russia and the companies can't charge extra for it. So it's much better now.

It makes sense to get the SIM at airport as they will need to see your passport for some weird reason.

Guys , I will be there. One week to see football where i will see 4/5 cities too. not too enthousiastic about the hords of heavy drinkers polluting the landscape and prices high.
But a good opportunity to see Russia.
The second week , I will get off to another part of Russia , 5000km away from the World Cup. The Fan-ID still let's you do this. Slowly building a virtual possible harem , will report if i manage to do something.

Yeah, I just made the bets because I lived in both countries and will be rooting for them here. I ended up getting Panama at 750/1 so I put down $25 and if a miracle happens, I would win $18,750. It's a lottery ticket, I know. Colombia at least has some talent so at 40/1 and putting down $175, I would win 7k.

Strange things can happen. No one thought Greece would win the euros or Leicester for the PL so you never know....
