I would not recommend Angeles City for your first time in the Philippines. Last I heard, Koreans there are getting popped left and right, and westerners aren't too far behind.

Buy your shit with a credit card that offers protection against theft (Chase Sapphire, Citi Prestige, AMEX SPG, etc.). That gets you 90 days usually. Read the details about how much is covered in one incident, etc. Believe the AMEX Platinum has the most liberal terms, and if you get a sign-up bonus, the annual fee will pay for itself even if you don’t end up filing an insurance claim.
