Thanks for the info guys. Perhaps I would try Medellin, but from what I have read on the forums, the sex tourist label is even easier to get there. I'm also a bit intrigued by Sao Paulo. I'm not sure how it is with safety, but I guess it's much safer than Rio? And the quality of girls is better than Rio, or is it old info?

In Medellin, I would be seen as a sex tourist, but in Sao Paulo, I could be there for work, which wouldn't be a total lie and possibly would get a boost with all those career obsessed chicks.

Sao Paulo and the surrounding areas are probably the safest there is in Brazil, theres much more money around so less desperate people and all the underworld is ruled by one big syndicate that allegedly also has political and LE ties so no gang wars... its also much whitier

Is the crime rate going down due to Bolsonaro's military tactics? I didn't read this thread before purchasing my tickets. Some of these anecdotes have me second guessing. Would it be as dangerous during Carnaval? I'd assume there would be a heightened police presence due to the large number of tourists.

^ During carnaval, millions of people will be on the streets. Among those people, there will be 100.000's of low-class thugs to pickpocket and rob the party-goers.

Now picture 10.000 policemen trying to do their job in this huge crowd

The police can't even pull this off during a normal beach-day, let alone during carnaval.

About the crime-rate: it is hard to say if it is going down. There is more semi-police in Ipanema and Leblon but they usually just stand around eating salgados. I for sure had more problems the last few weeks.

If Bolsenaro's tactics will work, we will hopefully see it later this year. However, I would not count on it.

Carnival is the easiest time to get robbed. That's why they brought in the military last year. 12,000 police and 10,000 military and tourist were still getting stabbed and robbed in broad daylight in areas considered safe.

Don't walk around drunk and don't take anything you would be sad about losing.

Quick Question , I have about 12 days in Brazil, starting in Rio. While I definitely want to game, I want to try to get a good overall Experience about Brazil... Should I spent 4-5 days in Rio and then go otherwise places for 4-5 days? If yes, where do you recommend?

You can do Rio is 3 to 4 days and then move onto Sao Paulo for 5 days and then the remaining in Florianopolis.

I don't remember exactly but was paying 8-9 usd at those shitty little diners ,which was greasy fast food. I think paid at an average restaurant around 12-13 usd. I didn't go to any of the surrounding favelas or poor neighborhoods to eat, and kinda like to eat at sanitary places when I travel. Did a favela tour could see the giardia seeping out of the food at the market.

I just didn't like that city seemed superficial and left after 4 days to Iguazu Falls and onwards to Paraguay. Went to some buffet in Foz do Iguacu and it was like 3 usd without a drink for rice and chicken with flies everywhere. Honestly, was better than that diner food in Rio.

I didn't like Rio too much either hated that it was portegese for the language, didn't find the women that attractive in general and didn't get a solid gringo factor either. Also crime is a problem as well but remember you can go and have a blast and meet a stunner everything is subjective where I may have had a bad experience but you can go and have a blast. I don't find brazalian women that attractive on average compared to colombia, venezuela, puerto rico, etc

I´d say that being a gringo in Rio is actually a handicap, due to the strong stereotypes of asshole sex tourist or stinky backpacker. And even if you manage to surpass those stereotypes, you need to adjust your game to the proper agressiveness, as Brazilian girls, specially the cariocas, expect you to be direct and alpha.

Also, the typical gringo physical traits (white, tall, strong, blond, blue or green eyes) is not that uncommon in Southeastern or Southern Brazil, due to the historic of european immigration (lots of german, italian and portuguese descendents).

If you want to trully get gringo factor, check Northeastern or Northern Brazil.

Titus is spot on. Being gringo works against you. If I did not have game I wouldn't have gotten anyhere despite being gringo as fuck.

Can confirm. Two fit 6'4 Scandinavian blond gringos at a coastal town in Bahia for the next month. Can barely establish eye contact with a local. We're here to surf and work, so it's fine, but we've never experienced anything like this. Of course, it doesn't help that we don't know Portuguese.

One week in so far, some observations:
- Lots of hot and feminine girls, but not easy at all. To be fair after spending almost a full year in africa my game skillz are at an all time low I think, I need to unlearn some bad habits developed after having been a "white god" for a year or so.
- As people have mentioned before, people are super flaky here. My strategy for that is I don't make plans more than a few hours in advance and that is working. Being spontaneous is better
- Being foreign is not an advantage here. Besides the language barrier - maybe its just cause of old habits like talking instead of being physical , TBD
- Stunning landscape and beaches filled with hot girls in bikinis having fun. I do love waking up and taking a bike around the promenade and have açai for breakfast while watching hot tanned girls on the beach.
- If you don't speak Portuguese or at least fluent Spanish, I advise go somewhere else.
- Plenty of matches on Tinder, but mostly 6's and the odd 7-8's and they seem to more interested in boyfriend and love than fun.
- Haven't done much night game yet.
- Did go to a few pre-carnaval blocos but between the insane heat, humidity and not having a wingman it wasn't fruitful. I think carnaval may be the worst time to get laid, but yes a lot of fun for sure. Did not see people making out left and right as they usually say - but this is only pre-carnaval so lets see
- City logistics can be tricky if she lives far from zona sul or outside a metro line.
- Also worth mentioning I work around 6 hours a day M-F so I'm not like 100% going out all day and gaming, I think you would have a lot better results if you were gaming all day long on the beaches

I'm gonna see how it goes but def keen to check out other parts of brasil.

Also to everyone saying brasilian girls can be surprisingly ugly - are you sure you're not just saying that you don't like brown and black girls? Haha. I do love dark skin (and light skin) and I'm very very happy with the average quality here. Also everyone is in decent shape - appearances and fitness is very important here.

Which one is more liveable/comfortable for a dude to stay a month or so, work from home and going out and picking up hot brasileiras at night?

Yes.

Best practice IMO is to have one of these with just the absolute minimum - copy of passport, R$50 cash. Cellphone only if you must. Attach the belt to your hip, zip close it and keep it under your shorts. Anywhere else - pockets, bag, fanny pack - might get taken, pickpocketed, slashed, etc. Seen it happen a hundred times.

And avoid rolling solo.
