New York Law School is not to be confused with other prestigious law schools in NY such as New York University which is ranked #6 overall by US News for law schools.

USNews ranks NYLS at #112 which means it's a low tier law school.

Over the last 5 years or so, one of my guilty pleasures has been reading about underemployment of law school majors. It's a fascinating subculture with many blogs of discontented law school grads carping about what a bad deal it is- ESP. if you don't graduate from a top-tier school. And articles like this one from NY Times. A sad phenomenon where too many apply, universities are happy to take their money, but only a low % get jobs that actually require law degrees.

You can see on the USNews page that only 36.9% of NYLS grads are employed at graduation. Compare this to Yale where 84.5% of grads are employed at graduation.

Here's an interesting article specifically on what a waste of money attending NYLS is:

But frankly, the NYT article confirms what a lot of us already know: that law schools fudge--a lot.

My guess is getting into porn was likely a better decision that wasting at least $150K on this third-tier law school. So it's the 'solo' genre- the only person she's going to be screwing with this NYLS degree is herself.

When I was going to school, in-State Tuition to most of the Big Ten schools (Michigan, Purdue, Wisconsin, etc.) were more expensive than going to UNC out of state, so it depends on the state that you live in. I did not see what it cost to go to Washington State but it was probably a shit load cheaper than going to Duke, so 50 to 60K is not that far off in tuition alone. She wanted to go to Duke, it was not a requirement to go there in order to succeed in life.

Actually, there are formal studies but they're now hard to find on Google. Still, I found one. Here is its conclusion: "Adolescents who self-identify as more than 1 race are at higher health and behavior risks."

Mixed race kids in general seem to have a rougher go of it. I don't think this is due to outside pressure, although I can't speak for these people. It's hard enough to forge and identity in this world and I think this throws in an added hurdle in adolescence -- like being too chubby or too short. Not something lethal, but something you do have to learn to deal with.

Hell, even growing up in a household with two religions can be difficult. About ten years ago, a teacher-turned-comedian named Steve Solomon got people talking when he came out with a one-man show called “My Mother’s Italian, My Father’s Jewish & I’m in Therapy!” I spoke briefly to him, and remember thinking that the jokes were a way to deal with what he couldn't deal with as an adolescent.

Keep in mind Private Schools have always been for the upper middle class. Top students who can't afford 47k a year schoools can go to their flagship for usually around $10,000-$15,000 a year (minus "liberal" california).

Very possible to get a degree for under $50,000. Problem is upper middle class liberals want to get that ego bump for going to Duke (even in some worthless degree), so they spend $200,000 instead and graduate in massive debt or zero thanks to daddy.

For graduate school, cost does skyrocket so you gotta be smart and make sure you attend a top 25 school or your just burning $$

First of all - I think that she is actually relatively smart, but IQ and women works differently. They don't operate at the same level with a 130 IQ than a man.

All her excuses of cutting and porn addiction are bullshit. She was a horny little minx with lots of fantasies and she loved fucking and feeling hot and validated.

Now she realized that she did not make as much money as she thought she would (most girls make far less than her - stripping and escorting is x-times more profitable). Plus she realizes that her career choice would follow her around.

About $60k/year. This isn’t an Ivy League school. It’s not Georgetown. I asked her what her post college plans were. Of course the answer was law school. Hopefully Stanford. Tuition alone is another $60k/year. And then add living expenses to that. You’re looking at $80k minimum/year. So all told, she’s looking at almost $600K in borrowed money for her education. Law school is really one of the biggest scams out there once you get outside the very elite tiers of law school. Keep in mind that law salaries are unique bimodal, which means either their getting paid $40-50k in some crap job or $150k+ for work in a "big law firm", with few graduates working in the middle.

So ideally for law school graduates they want to work in Big Law or Federal Clerkship which means their loans will be fully paid off easily.

The Top 12 law schools have a placement rate of over 65% of big law + clerkships. These include schools such as Yale / Harvard. To be competitive for admission you will need to score a LSAT around 170, which is the top 2.6% of all test takers.

Once you start getting out of this elite tier things start to go down rapidly. in fact Georgetown, which historically has been in the "T14", has a placement rate of mere 50%.

#22 ranked Emory? Only 30%. LSAT average for emory: 165. Top 8% of LSAT takers. How about SMU, what some people in Dallas consider a "reputable school" (hint its not), placement rate of 20%. I can go on and on.

Essentially anything after Top 25 Law Schools your taking a huge risk of graduating in crushing debt for the rest of your life. Even if you make it to the big leagues, such as a WUSTL (#18) you still have a mere 50% chance of getting a good job.

If you ever meet someone who wants to go to law school (especially female hamstering) show them the numbers.

So going to a "TTT" (Third Tier Toilet School), is guaranteed debt with no upside. Only a fool would go to such a terrible school aka our college porn star. At best she will get a paralegal job paying her $20 an hour. She will be tricked out for a long time to pay her debts.

I remember some 20 years ago hitting on a young fresh lawyer coming out of Harvard law school. She said that it cost her 120.000$ and she considered it a fortune that was hard to pay back.

Nowadays she would have to be looking forward to 600.000$+ ? Only the best, lucky or industrious ones have any hope of paying that back ever.

As for the porn starlet above - she could repay that back. I saw part of the documentary back then.
