I think I fooled around with it and just saw tons of nasty nasty chicks. The inability to block super ugly girls from repeatedly showing up turned me off. Plus, the more mainstream something is, the more cute girls there'll be. This stuff is still sorta off the radar. And all the apps are spammy.

OKC has a mobile location feature, but I've never gotten anything out of it.

I would stick with OKcupid's new "Locals" mobile feature because, like basil said, the more mainstream it is, the more likely you'll have cute girls on there. I haven't used it, but I think it's the same idea.

The reason why this has my interest is the speed of it. On ok cupid and pof you are getting cockblocked 24hrs a day.

If you are one block away and she likes your profile it takes 80% of the flake factor out.

Me: Where are you? Close huh?

Her: At Mollys bar Downtown.

She would have no chance to flake because she's already on the date and doesn't know it yet.
How much work does that save? Any fat bitch can sit in front of a screen with four year old pictures and get her ego pumped all day.

To me it looks like just another step towards online dating. I don't understand how it works from your OP, but if it allows girls to keep tabs on YOU, then it's a headache and should be illegal. If it will show a bounty of wet pussy nearby you, keep in mind if they are turning to technology it is to slip past something guys are screening for. Rule of thumb - no normal girl will get on a date site/app

I think there is one that will show up-to-the-minute gender percentages for venues in popular cities. That is probably a better bet.

Personally, I value discretion and privacy more than anything else. Face to face connections at my leisure are the best way to get what I want. I can imagine a scene from a waking nightmare right now:

On the other hand, mobile apps are getting a lot of attention, and there are a lot of smart people taking a crack at it. The traditional online dating industry is pretty settled, and the rate of innovation is low. Plus mobile dating has more reach, because you can use it while waiting for something else, eg on the bus. Definitely a segment to watch out for.

In the mobile version of OKC, your pics are even more important - there's no messaging, just a pre-recorded message indicating interest. The increased importance of pictures is guaranteed to be a common thread among mobile dating apps.

And Blendr got its start as Grindr, which caters to gay men looking for quick anonymous hookups. Not exactly illustrious origins.

Oh and Apple is making a dating service, possibly. If and when it happens, mobile dating will become mainstream in a matter of seconds. That's Apple.

I don't know if this makes sense but, in this area about half or more of the girls don't have smart phones because all of the cut rate cell companies don't support them. Most of them can't even get a pic or longer text. It just won't show up.

The Iphone/ Android girls think they are a cut above and its status for them. When I got mine the guy who works for me wife hated on me for months and kept telling what a piece of shit it was and her metro phone was better.

A girl here may think you have your shit together just because you have an Iphone and be more receptive. I know this may sound crazy but it's true here.

I'm sure it will catch on sooner or later. There are some local chat services out there, around events and the like. Messageparty is one.

Problem with the local dating apps is that they become hookup tools. That's why Grindr does so well with gays. But it's also why other services quickly become populated with bottom feeder women and creepy dudes. This will change eventually when it becomes mainstream, but no one seems to have cracked it yet.

My roommate messed around with some Iphone dating apps last year. He happened to knock up a disgusting girl and had to drop $550 on an abortion. He also banged a 16 year old and almost got into legal trouble because her mom found out and he spent months getting everything straightened out.

There are a lot of trashy girls on there but that doesn't mean you won't find exceptions. It is also really easy to get nude pics if that's your thing.

Yeah I posted that here before, when it first came out.

I'm in LA, and only got a smartphone two months ago, but most of the girls I mack have had them, for years now. Mostly iphone, but more Androids now.

My phone game hasn't changed much for it. It's a lot easier to manage texts from girls, but other than that, no different. I did get a family planning/menstrual calendar app though, haha.

I have Skout. I picked it up on the advice of a buddy in Beijing. He is KILLING it there by using this app as part of his arsenal.

I know here, too, it is mostly asian broads looking for attention. I have chatted with a few but dont use it enough to escalate.
