Ok, so a new app has arrived called FakeApp. This app allows you to superimpose an image of someone's face onto another person's body while mimicking their facial expressions.

I can't seem to upload any of the clips that have been made, but here's the NSFW reddit link r/deepfakes

People are using it for porn obviously right now, but this technology is both amazing and terrifying.

From now any video of any dramatic event (on the news, on youtube or elsewhere) cannot be considered proof of anything anymore.

We will have to go back using actual physical film to be sure something is actually legit.

Even historic films of past events on digital media are subject to total manipulation, unless you examine the orginal print.

Not impressed so far. I haven't seen a single one that looks legit. Kinda close, enough to maybe make me do a double take if I wasn't looking at an original side by side. From what I've read into it, the tech is very similar to speech recognition tech. It's bound to get better.

But it is scary. Like on page 2 of the subreddit, there is a kid asking if he can overlay his crushes face onto porn. You need around 500 images of her to do it. No problem...just grabbing them from her Facebook.

Just spending hours of his life creeping images of a girl he likes So he can use computer software to overlay her face onto the body of another girl so he can watch her get fucked by another man. Then hell want his face overlayed over the face of the man fucking his fake crush girl. So he'll spend more hours collecting pictures of himself, and taking pictures of his face in very specific expressions, so he can create a somewhat realistic model of himself. Then he'll just jerk off everyday to a fake video of fake him fucking his fake crush.

That shits scary. That road leads to ZERO good things.

I would argue that tech in the last 3-5 years has lead to really zero good things. Lots of narcissism, lots of handing out private info like candy on Halloween, and jobs being lost. It’s par for the course in Silicon Valley, man.

That aside ... all this was foretold. Michael Crichton in Rising Sun was pointing out how good the fakery in photographs was getting, and he, too, predicted that soon photographs or video would become inadmissible in court.
