RE: Facebook Advertising - Ask Me Anything
^^ Also, here's one clue I've gotten from the FB ads... some guy emailed me saying he found me on Facebook and wanted to send his resume to me.

Not exactly what I was looking for. I feel my targeting is off, but I'm not sure how to fix it.

I'm getting a lot of impressions, so I know I'm doing something right. But is the CTR too low, or right about average? And what does the relevancy score really mean?

What was the optin rate of those 2.5%?

No opt-ins, unfortunately. Maybe I'm not targeting narrowly enough?

Was there a reason to optin (ie freebie)?

Yes, of course. Free PDF download that has some helpful tips for my target audience. I prefer to not go into detail on the forum, but we can talk about it offline. You have my contact info, right?

Yeah, understood of course.

I'll get you on Whatsapp.

Using the pixel I can see when they actually visit the site and click on the listen links. It looks like so far though I don't have any visits to the player but they're still charging me. I thought I had set it up so facebook did CPC (paid per click to the player, not the site). I must be confused as to how this thing works.

That's not bad by any means. a CTR of 2.5 is pretty decent but for a free offer ad, it can definitely be more. My current free offer ad runs at 10.25%. Relevancy score depends on some more factors like people hiding your ad, reporting it, etc. But a lot of times I've found the relevance score isn't actually quite relevant itself. Hence I always focus on the CTR cause if people are clicking you're definitely doing something right.

Looks like the problem is in your landing page if you've got no conversions. PM me the screenshot of your ad copy and the link to your lp. Will be able to guide you better.

It does not matter what they do once they are on your lp. Facebook's work is only limited up to the step they click on your ad and they'll charge you for it.

Any advice on how to locate the most clicked on keywords via google and Facebook. Based around your chosen industry of course.

Also any good links on backlinks and how to establish solid ones. I have a site with a blog section, that I am using to facilitate backlinks. Bit at a sticking point now, and I only have a few days to sort this issue out.

It was indeed a problem with the landing page. I had This Is Trouble take a look at it and he had useful feedback. So I fixed it up and will give the ad another run and let you know the results.

The "most clicked on" might not get you the best bang for your buck.

But anyway here is a fantastic monster guide on keyword research:

RE: Facebook Advertising - Ask Me Anything
Tried again with my revised landing page.

20k impressions, 400 clicks, still zero opt-ins. Disappointing.

I still think my targeting is off. I'm still not convinced Facebook Ads is good for B2B, and I need to see results supporting this. So far, mine doesn't.

OP, I'm gonna send you a PM.

RE: Facebook Advertising - Ask Me Anything
^ Update.

As a one last ditch effort, I narrowed my targeting as it was WAY too broad. I used job titles, specific interests, and narrowed the demographics, one step at a time, to narrow my audience to only a few thousand, as opposed to a several million. Will let it run a day or so.

It probably will not work. But if it does, it's an object lesson on how to target your FB audiences and I'll post more details on how I did this.

If it doesn't work (more likely scenario), then it only confirms that FB ads are not ideal for B2B, and is more geared towards B2C.

In my experience, I've always seen the opposite to be true, i.e, if the potential size of the audience is huge (between 50,000-5,00,000), it actually results in a lower CPC.

Whenever I've had lower PA like 1000-5000, I've got a substantially high CPC.

But what you can do is that if you find the CTR on the small audience is good enough but the CPC is high, you can add to your current audience the lookalike of the people who visited your website from that small group and it will straight away give you a larger and more targeted PA with a less CPC.

And yes, just to reiterate the the point related to the discussion we had on pm (for the benefit of others), avoid using Facbeook ads for b2b.

RE: Facebook Advertising - Ask Me Anything
How long should the ad text be for a Facebook ad for an ebook compared to one for AMS (which only allow a short sentence or two)? I assumed short ones for non-fiction books but after watching a few tutorial videos, it looks like long form is done by quite a few fiction authors.

Also-- do I need lots of content on my FB page if I'm just driving traffic to my Amazon book page and not to my FB page?

When it comes to headline and text, the only way to get the answer is to do A/B testing. There isn't a one rule fits all scenario. Some ads work better with lot of text, some don't. But the most crucial thing is always to get the headline and image spot on since that is the first thing that is noticed by someone scrolling down on Fb.

No, you don't need any content technically speaking but it's always a good practice to still have some posts on your page before you start advertising to serve as social proof in case someone decides to check your page first before actually clicking on the ad.

RE: Facebook Advertising - Ask Me Anything
Another question about FB ads for a completely different business than the one I’ve tried it with before.

For a commission-based sales gig, how would I use FB ads to get people to either email me or message me through FB messenger if they’re interested?

That way, I can track who and how much revenue I brought to my client’s business.

Have you tried a lead ad campaign? You can customize the fields and specify what you want the target to fill out. And then link it with a tool like zapier or leadsync and have that sent to your email.

Yes I'm with you on using Lead Forms and customizing the fields, but I'm a bit lost on how to integrate that with Zapier so I get the emails.

Is this what you're talking about?

Yes that’s what I’m talking about, since Fb is constantly updating things the tutorial below might not be valid anymore

Try this tutorial and let me know if it works for you
https://youtu.be/Vbd8vFHS92M

If it doesn’t I’ll send you a tutorial on how to use leadsync.... it’s a much easier setup, it’s also free

Thoughts on running fb ads for a supplement company? And what kind of ads would work best, as in would a video testimonial be best, or a generic picture ad advertising a deal like 20% off or free samples etc...

I haven't researched fb ads much but it is definitely an avenue i will look into for my business I recently started. I don't expect you to spoon feed me since im not knowledgeable on the subject, but maybe if you could point me to some good resources that I can read up on that'd be awesome. Thanks!

The crucial factor as always is how much traffic you are getting on your website before starting FB ads.

If you already have a decent amount of traffic, then the best thing would be to set up a fb pixel on your website, create an audience of those people visiting the supplement product page and then create an ad with that audience. It's called retargeting. This ensures you are not reaching out to someone cold. These people are already down the funnel so stand a better chance at being converted. The key is to never sell them the product at the same price. The ad should clearly communicate that the product is at a limited time discount to create an urgency to buy.

As for resources, you can use YouTube videos to learn how to set up a pixel and create a re-targeting ad. Though I always suggest that you buy a course off Udemy and learn FB advertising in a structured way. Just message the course creator that for a free/discounted coupon and assure them that you would leave a review for their course. They'll most likely accept the offer. I know because I do the same for my photography course on Udemy. Reviews are everything there.

I have multiple products listed as an affiliate. High virality, m, clickbait style, products. The site pushes social sharing for each product with one click share buttons.

How would you organize a FB ad campaign? Would you advertise for the site as whole, or advertise for individual products?

Never cross streams.

Thanks for your response. My traffic is extremely low so unfortunately that won't be viable but i'll save this response for later on, seems like really good, specific advice for when I get more traffic!

RE: Facebook Advertising - Ask Me Anything
@Testos: I had good results with FB ads a couple of years ago, but then stopped. When I came back they had totally changed their system to make it "easier" but it made it harder to use my old methods that worked.

I was basically running an ad to get people to the Facebook page for a website and then once they were on the page they could click on different wall posts to get different services. Or they could just like the Page while they were on it. Hopefully they did both.

Nowadays FB wants you to run an ad to get clicks to your website or get likes, as far as I can see. I haven't put a lot of time in, but I can't see how to run and ad to get them to land on my Page and then do whatever they want once they're there.

I don't want to hijack this thread, but I spend over $100,000/month on Facebook ads between my businesses, and my clients.

Any questions just ask.
