I think that the material summarizing how one should invest as much as one's willing to, without expecting a return, is the pinnacle of the talk's advice. The point is that you gave it a shot, hammered on, and strove to improve yourself. The one and only alternative to that is being the guy who doesn't even try. Who even ultimately gives up, and I for one, was that guy for far too long. I realize that when I section off a sliver of my resources to explore Game, that instance may very well yield little, if any, tangible return, but I still made the effort.
