Sounds good, however, my Summer plan is probably going to be Tiraspol. Saw enough talent in a few hours there to believe it could be a good spot come the high season.

wow, honestly, mad respect for having this idea and posting it here. Some of the stuff I find of this forum is truly inspiring.
A couple of questions regarding game in Belgrade. Do you guys game in English? Does speaking slav poorly help at all? Like an A2 level just for giggles or is it frowned upon / just won't make a difference anyway?

English is ok, but if you speak serbo-croatian it will make you more high status and seem like less of a visitor. You'll clearly be seen as a dedicated long-term resident. Some hot girls don't speak english. I used english. Any way you can show your interested in the local culture helps, esp. speaking a bit of serbian. it amuses the girls to hear u try to speak serbian with your foreign accent. Also being familiar with serbian music is a good thing as well.

Not in Serbia at the moment. A word of advise, get there meet some good guys and don't say anything about business at all. Hang with them for a while and get them on your side, but don't let them think you're loose with your money--that's the worst thing to do in serbia with natives. You need to establish levels of trust where your serbian friends would fight for you at a bar, etc, rescue you from a brawl before you even mention money/ business.

You need to carefully vet your friends first to avoid any problems.

You need to meet their families, you need to see if they have university degrees, and most importantly you need to see if they're trustworthy or bad with money. I ran into a lot of impulsive dudes clubbing way too much, would blow massive amounts of money anytime they made any, gambling issues, drugs are big etc. To do any sort of business you will need an honest serbian partner and he will need to know you consider him an equal and respect his judgment.

Good options: vracar, Savamala, Dorcol, skadarlija, etc.

to get a general idea: pull up google maps, don't do anything east of e-70 road, draw an invisible line straight down with it. nothing south of e-75 road. Nothing on the west bank of the sava river. Now you're good to go and within walking or quick taxi of all belgrade's action.

Just booked a cool apartment in Belgrade for the month of May.

Looking forward to getting some work done, having fun, and meeting some Belgrade girls.

Hopefully Project Belgrade is still alive. But I'll be there either way, because I feel like Belgrade is a hidden gem.

Belgrade is a hidden gem in the sense that it's inexpensive, has hot women, and isn't overrun by tourists yet. This won't last forever.

I'm also a fan of "rough" underdeveloped cities that have plenty of room for economic growth. That's where business opportunities stem from.

Belgrade is also conveniently located to summer events in SE Europe.

Brainbar in Budapest - a confab modeled on SXSW in Austin going on as I write, combining music and tech informed think-tank style futurist talks ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brain_Bar ) with some 7,000 in person attending - at the start of June.

Belgrade is close to summer music fests in Zagreb, Croatia, late in June, and Pula, Croatia at the end of August, The Sziget Festival in Budapest the same month, and Pula again for EDM music fest at the start of September.

I've only listed events on my summer calendar. However, I expect to be based in Hungary instead of Serbia - but either are quite attractively located (Me? I need me some Alps hiking this summer).

Belgrade has plenty of tourists considering it's a capital city with not much in the way of tourist attractions. 15 years ago it was another story. In the last 10 years international tourist numbers in Serbia have doubled

BGD has a five year timespan on it. It won't last long, with EU accession. Good for now, better than ukriane, and not as shitty. Safe, and people are surprisingly nice to foreigners.

Seems like you're pretty much on the mark - Serbia could join EU in 2025, says Brussels.

I'm thinking about Zagreb and Belgrade this summer too, haven't figured out the dates yet, possibly June onwards.
