This is set before Captain Kirk. Is the Star Trek fan base just going to pretend the original series never happened?

Kirk is a pretty strong-willed alpha male who sleeps with almost everything that moves.

I don't seem to remember the original Star Trek being very marxist or SJW, not TNG either.

Yes, they've got different races working as one Earth, but so what? I don't recall a single racially charged theme in either of them. Normal alpha male characters and generally attractive feminine women. They even have a 100% rational character in Spock (libertarian sperg) who would no doubt today be called a mansplainer and/or white supremacist.

I understand the idea of one earth with no Christianity must have been rather radical back then, but overall I can't see too much jewing going on.

At least in the TNG/DS9/VOY era there was a presumption of racial and gender equality, but it was treated as a non-issue. Basically none of the characters gave any thought to racism or sexism simply because it was a problem that was considered solved hundreds of years ago and talking about it endlessly would be strange. So basically normal liberal instead of crazy SJW progressive liberal.

TOS also had racial equality. Look at what happens with Abe Lincoln refers to Lt. Uhura as a "charming negress". LOL!

Indeed, TOS had the first interracial kiss on network television (Uhuru and Kirk).

Also, there was that episode about the planet where half the people were black on the left side of their body and white on the other side, and the other half were the opposite. The two groups were at war and expected the Enterprise crew to see the other group is obviously inferior for their different skin coloring. Hard to imagine a more obvious allegory. The leading character was played by the guy who was the original Riddler on Batman.

I am a trekkie and I will not be watching this show

Nothing seems sacred anymore

Star Trek was a show about unity, a belief in a better tomorrow and striving for something greater than ourselves, all I see in the above posts about this new show is division, for shame

Edit: I may give it a look to satisfy curiosity and cause that black chick from the walking dead is pretty hot but the above points stand (except for the not watching, for now at least)

RE: Star Trek Discovery ticks all the Social Justice boxes
I've been watching it on streaming site. I grew up with star trek, I remember when the next generation first aired, my parents watched star trek growing up, and had a bunch of friends over to watch it.

So far, it's about one chick and her struggles with whatever. It's not about the crew of the Discovery, it's just about this one "multicultural" chick. I don't know who the helmsman are, security officers, engineers, doctors, etc. Everyone is just background noise to this one chick's story of "struggle". I think it's neat that they are pioneering a new way of travel, which apparently never went anywhere, but it's hard to connect with anything presented in the series so far because of the blatant little poor annie front and center.

I hate ST;D.
And I love Star Trek. I still watch all the dumbass bullshit episodes from Enterprise and Voyager.
Shit, I even used to watch Deep Space Nine on Spike channel, when they also did reruns of "Seven Days" (great fuckin series, go fuck yourself asshole) back in the day.

Oh yeah, go watch Seven Days, if you don't like reading the Game forum.

But why do you have television? Who is watching this crap? In 2017, I don't see how a masculine man can grok paying for cable tv and subsidizing the likes of Weinstein and his pals. Cancel your tv subscriptions, read books, hit the gym, etc!

The universe is great. Storytelling ok, but hard to relate to this skinny little girl as “the best first officer of Starfleet”.

Captain Janeway is one of my most favorite television characters of all time.

Seriously dude? Voyager was, in my opinion, the worst of the Star Trek franchises. Yes, even worse than Enterprise.

My housemate is blue pill & a TV junkie. I am using it to red pill him by pointing out all of the nonsense, such as...

- Strong, independent, pre-wall black girls with boys names & boys haircuts
- Fat, frumpy, premmy-post-wall, white women with bloodnuts & personality disorders/special needs
- Blonde, faggot, drama-queen engineer who won't stop huffing (& don't forget "perfect" black boyfriend who dresses in white)
- Masculine White Captain Who Loves War & Wants To Turn A Poor Space Creature Into A Weapon.
- White women who you should want to fuck are slim (thank god) but are at least 50 yrs old, in positions of power & have lips like a cats bum.
- Klingons who carry on like immigrants
- Now Vulcans, who because they ascribe to logic than feels are the new "Logic Extremists" that are blowing shit up for the Religion Of Logic.

From a Red Pill perspective, it's entirely ridiculous & utterly hilarious.

The captain is actually being portrayed fairly positively, more so in the last two episodes. Strong willed man of action (but "damaged", obviously) who wants to do what's best for his people with all means available and sometimes against the will of his superiors, not unlike the captains of the previous shows.

There's now a new male security officer with an impressive war record too (the previous female one was killed by the aforementioned space creature if I remember correctly, I think I missed that part while I was doing something important - maybe browsing this thread or making a sandwich), who looks look he could be a future love interest for - or friendzoned by - the lead with the male name. Maybe there will be an episode with false rape charges later.

Only a small terrorist group of Vulcans are presumably blowing things up. The rest appear to remain typically Vulcan-y logical and emotionally detached.

I found this show intolerable until I started cheering for the Klingons and seeing the Federation as the stand-in for the dying, decadent West.

That actually kind of makes sense to me. At least in the 90s Trek era Vulcans always treated logic like some kind of religion, spouting it constantly out of any actual context that same way muzzies always insert mentions of Allah into even nonreligious discussions. Plus Vulcans HAVE emotions, it's just their religion forbids expressing emotions. It all sounds like a perfect breeding ground for religious extremists and nuts like the Vulcan serial killer in that DS9 episode.

He's supposed to be hot for his superior female officer (the one with the cats bum lips). She's got a few years on him. He's the Starfleet commander of the fucking Discovery & he wants her barren ass?
