The guy in the shorts is not the reporter, it is just a guy in background. You can hear reporters pants swishing as he runs by camera. Probably actually happened but not that dramatic of a rescue.

Most definitely the correct call from the mayor. Evacuation would have been a disaster.

The flash floods caught everyone by surprise. It's not as if Monday morning last week people expected things to get this complicated. The librarian at my school, old guy from Houston, was still planning on going to a dinner with friends Friday evening.

Everyone I talk to says how surprised they were of the extent. 50 inches is what we got, and that was also the peak prediction that I had heard of.

It doesn't matter if the mayor did the technically correct action, they will still blame him in an emotional manner for not declaring an evacuation. A bunch of angry, depressed people who lost everything aren't going to give a shit about the empirical evidence of evacuation protocol risks.

Yeah before you rescue someone be sure that you are in a full gear, nice re-touch good lighting, and angle then GO. Why need to quickly change an outfit in the life and death situation.

It's still worth putting things in perspective. He made the tough call. Whether he loses the next election or not, he made the tough call and that counts for a lot.
