They seem to be one of the cheapest charter airlines. Any RVFers flown with this airline before?

I've flown Allegiant from my home in the northern US maybe a dozen times to Tampa/St. Pete, Arizona, and LA. Fares are listed per one-way, and can range from inexpensive to ridiculously cheap. One disadvantage, at least from where I am, is that they only fly to each destination twice a week.
The vibe is generally good since most of the passengers are headed to their vacation getaway. The return trip tends to be a bit more subdued because the vacationers had too much sun and/or too much partying.
The staff is pleasant and the planes are clean and seem to be in good condition.

A friend of mine took Allegiant from Oklahoma City to Las Vegas a couple of weeks ago. The return flight was canceled because of plane problems. They were all rescheduled for the next flight, 3 days later. Were given no money, no food, no hotel rooms, not even any help. The front desk locked the doors and threatened to call security if they didn't leave the area.

My friend ended up paying about $1200 for a flight back home with another airline.

It's awfully risky flying an airline that doesn't have daily service to a location. Especially one that uses extremely old planes and has a spotty record of reliability like Allegiant.

As far as discount airlines go, I use Spirit often.

Did a round trip to Myrtle Beach a few years ago for $99. Cheap, but be prepared to be nickel and dimed for everything. No free drinks or snacks, no free carry-on bag, even a charge to print out your boarding pass at the ticket counter if you didn't do it beforehand. Having said all that, i've had worse flight experiences from other airlines and consider that allegiant flight a positive experience.

I've flown on Allegiant twice. They're like any discount airline- if you have your shit organized, they're fine. If you want to take real advantage of their discounted prices, make sure you're under-weight on your bags, carry on some nuts/bananas for food, and bring an empty water bottle that you can fill up after you pass through security. The only thing that Allegiant really has going for it is that it gets you to FLL on the cheap, which means that you can fly on to South America on Spirit, which is a similarly shitty but effective airline. Follow their rules to the letter and you can be in Medellin/Bogota/Cartagena/Lima on a huge discount, keeping in mind that if you give them ANY reason to gouge you, they will.

I've flown with them dozens of times from Bellingham to Vegas. First ever flight with them years ago cost me 14.99 each way.

No frills. Cramped. Nickel and dimed for everything but for a solo traveller just wanting to get from point A to B with minimal baggage, it's perfect.

Had only one issue due to bad weather. Was given a room in Henderson and a 100 dollar voucher.

Pay for a carry-on in advance, print your boarding pass, etc.

Read the fine print and they're cheap. Old aircraft though. Otherwise the nickel and diming will push the price up to normal range.

I fly on them once or twice a year for over 5 years.

You have to pay for extra luggage and to pick your seat. So just watch all the extra fees because they add up fast. You end up paying a lot more than the listed fares. Plus they vary a lot over the holidays.

Overall it's better and cheaper than the alternatives.

I fly with them from Vegas to Grand Rapids to visit family once a year. Used them to fly to Monterey, CA as well. I haven't had any issues. I always fly with just a duffle bag carry-on and a backpack. Also they have mobile app so no need to print your boarding pass.
