I just did this with 2 American friends via train. Everything worked out well but we didn't buy ticket from online. Plus, that Ukraine railroad train was at 14:00, we were there at 07:00. We didn't want to wait that long, we wanted to buy ticket, earlier from gate at Przemyśl. Lady wanted to charge us €25, when real ticket price was €9.
