It's not important.

I don't use my phone and I never have. I carry a memo book and a small ink pen with me. I don't even ask women for numbers. I give them mine and walk away, and forget about it.

They come crawling to me when they want some action, not the other way around. Just the other day I got a message, "Linux, this is Kristin, you gave me your number at the pool, you might not remember," And she was right, I didn't remember because I didn't care enough to remember since it's such a trivial concept to me. That and I also just finished off a bottle of wild turkey, let's not kid ourselves.

If it gets in your head, just get a used iphone? it's only couple hundreds bucks.

It's like wearing worn out shoes or clothes you really like. If you act comfortable in that, it won't probably matter. If you are going to get conscious about it, why not just get something new?

Being "trendy" and "hip" has nothing to do with my decision. I simply prefer using technologically advanced features.

(1) Efficient energy usage, so that I never have to worry about running out of battery power.

(2) A real keyboard. A lot faster and typo free than trying to type on a fucking screen.

(3) Tough and rugged. Half the people with a smart phone seem to have a broken screen. Why would I want to buy junk that breaks so easily? Especially when said fragile junk costs an arm and a leg compared to the superior technological option.

(4) Small and lightweight. My little workhorse will fit into any pocket. My smart phone users appear to have to choice but to literally carry their phone around in their hands. Even if it does fit into their purse, taking it out every 20 seconds to see how popular they are is too much of a hassle. I want a phone that serves me, not a phone that I serve.

Give me a smart phone with a battery that lasts three days, an easy to use keyboard and a screen that won't break for under $100 and I'll switch.

That's pretty much it. In my case with the Iphone 4s. I would say things like "I like small things and I hope you do too". LOL Most gals know that I can be very sarcastic so they are often confused on what's real and what's not since I say everything with a straight face, further scrambling their hamster wheel.

Considering that you can get a smartphone screen fixed & make it look like new for $40, a cracked screen will IMO lower your value to the girl.

Nice cars, brand name clothes, etc. are worth nothing if you have no game. They can help you make a good first impression, but beyond that, you need game. Not having a smartphone is fine, but the cracked screen is IMO "poor".
