It's cool to see my state get a shoutout. I live in Greensboro, NC and I can tell you that Raleigh and Charlotte are both pretty great. Charlotte is going to be a lot closer to what you are used to in NYC - it's a big city and it has a great nightlife. Raleigh is a little bit slower-paced and there is not so much nightlife. Raleigh is close to the beach which is a big thing around here but Charlotte is close to Lake Norman which is nice.

As far as Greensboro goes I wouldn't recommend it here. My friends and I call it GreensBORING. @ThePrinceOfDixie is correct it is mostly black which is fine if you are into black women. Still the ratio isn't great as far as guys to girls. If you go to a club where there is a majority white women (only one I can think of is Syn and Sky) the girls are very clique-ish and won't dance with you unless they already know you.

Our state is pretty conservative - our legislature has been in the news for a number of conservative reforms. Until then it was viewed as a progressive southern state.

Race relations in the South are just so different than in NY.

Like my Republican friends in NY basically do not hang out with non-whites. Maybe one or two sneak in, but only if they act very white, at a party there may be 60 white people, 1 black guy, and 1 latina girl, so the environment is obviously just Whitey McWhiterson. And this is in NYC which is like 30% white.

Meanwhile I have a white Republican buddy from down south who had a hard-on for George Zimmerman. And he's married to a Latina immigrant and works as a hip-hop promoter.

Just a whole different dynamic down there.

I can confirm that picture of Asheville is actually how the people look/dress themselves. Many of them live on welfare to support their counter-culture lifestye.

Dont leave Wilmington out of the convo when talking about NC. Lots of hot girls come here from all over the east coast to go to UNCW. Plus theres the beaches that bring in the beetchez. Pretty good night life down town and at the beach bars.

Lots of hot girls seem to come here from NY and NJ at one of the big local sports bar/restraunt all but one of the bartenders are from NY or NJ an they are all hot.

I'm thinking of going to Greensboro for a few days. It's about a 2 hour drive from where I live and is the only bigish city within that distance. I want a place to practice daygame which is not dead in the summer like the little college town I live in. Do you think it's worth it? I've been to Charlotte too. It's mostly a business hub and does not have much touristic value.

There may be something there for your, but depending on where you are at, I would take the extra hour and drive to Raleigh instead for a few days. Chapel Hill is a college town, so it may be dead this time of year, and Durham is called "The Dirty" for a reason. I live in Charlotte and went to school in the triangle. Unless your looking to get a job into the banking or finance market id choose Raleigh ALL day.

What can you tell me about Wilmington? I was talking to a customer of mine the other day and he said Wilmington is hot for real estate right now. A girlfriend of my girlfriend is also thinking about moving there after visiting. What kind of town is it? What's it like?
