I used to have one that really irked people: [pompous tone] "You have reached the voice mail of Basil Ransom. I will return your call, [pause] at my leh-zhur." Changed it when I started interviewing for jobs...

I think it's irrelevant, because any chick who will call and leave a message is going to talk to you again.

When I first got a mobile I had one where I pretended I'd picked up the phone and couldn't hear them before saying "I'm actually not here. Leave a message." Pissed people off but was fun for a couple of months. Wouldn't work in the US since you're told that you're being forwarded to voicemail.

Now I just have a straightforward professional greeting since I use my phone for business.

1: my first name.

2: Hi you've reach NUMBER, please leave a detailed message and i'll get back you as soon as possible. Vous avez joint NUMBER. Veuillez laisser un message détaillé et je vous rappellerai dès que possible.

I have it as just my first name. One word, short and simple. I use the 2nd one when it needs to be professional.

I totally thought I would have some $$ voicemail ideas... but it's the same old shit I've been doing. VK has a good one, but I'm not trying to steal his thunder.

Shit, these whores get a fucking beep from me . I leave no voice, nothing. Then when I get irritated with them I change it to the break up voice mail. I thoroughly enjoy those. Tons to choose from. Funny , it seems that if you pick just the right one, these whores react with even more vigor to please.

The coolest thing I've had is a greeting I had a few years back. I knew a old guy who worked in radio and had one of those smooth-as-silk, old-school radio talk-show voices. I had him record something pretty basic for me, but it sounded cool as shit--perfect pacing, perfect delivery, perfect read.

I just have the standard pre-recorded greeting with my number. Makes it easier to avoid people or claim, that's not my number anymore.

I used to have fun ones, but those days are long gone. Usually it was some accent and either a joke or a song. Some favorites I remember were:

Doing a Mr. T impersonation - "I pity the fool who don't leave a message."

and singing - "Please leave a message, or I will fuck you up the ass!" That one got some good responses, until I accidentally missed a call from my grandma...

I think short and businesslike is the way to go.If you have a goofy message any chick over the age of 23 will lose respect..especially if they themselves work in an office and have a good phone manner.
