Chris Pine has not one beard, but a whole assortment of beards. I saw the Wonder Woman movie this weekend and have to say it was pretty good. The story is simple but not pretentious, the acting is good and follows a very charming script with funny, unforced banter, the effects are powerful but not the annoying in-your-face kind, and the overall feel of the movie is humane and apolitical. Certainly a refreshing change from all the SJW-infested crap we've had to endure recently.

8/10, would watch again.

According to another article I stumbled across a few days ago, Cavill's $14M was after all his various bonuses while Gadot's $300,000 is before any bonuses. And apparently it's about on par with what's been common for many of the superhero actors (DC and Marvel, and minus the actors who were already big names I'm sure) in their first movie of multi-movie deals. Chris Evans in the first Captain America movie was mentioned as an example, although I didn't look up numbers to try to verify that claim.
It's still likely that she didn't negotiate a great deal but I'm sure the final result is not quite as far off from her male co-stars as the two numbers suggest.

Caught it with some old work buddies. It's a good flick, but if you're as burned out on superhero movies as I am, you'd never watch it more than once.

If you're not, you'll probably be happy to see a movie from DC where the superhero is actually, you know, heroic. Saves lives, has to make choices that move the plot along, doesn't spend the whole movie brooding or snarking at her friends. It almost gets a little clever with upending an old comic book convention (WW is young and naive and thinks she just has to kill one bad guy to restore peace, and Chris Pine spends the movie visibly struggling to find a way to tell her that it isn't so simple), but I don't think it ever quite gives the concept the workout it's promising.

The main villain is well-acted but not a very memorable character. Actually, memorability is probably where this movie flounders. Wondy, Chris Pine, Robin Wright, and the Frau Farbissina evil poison doctor are really the only roles that stick out in my recollection. The supporting characters like the crazy Irish sniper, the Moroccan conman, and the Native American smuggler are instantly forgettable. The Moroccan guy is probably the most fun of the bunch but he doesn't get very much to work with. There's a stout Englishwoman we meet early on that screams "comic relief" and she may as well have not even been in the movie. Robin Wright is probably the most interesting side character (plays a tough, wiry, leathery Amazon mentor to Wondy) but you know exactly what the film has planned for her character from the first shot, so don't get your hopes up. Connie Nielsen plays Wondy's mom and the role's not exactly very demanding. Walks around, frowns about Wondy's destiny, tries to stop her from leaving home, gets sad when she does. Probably meant to appeal to young girls moving out. She has a really cringey line she gives Wondy about how "The world [of men] doesn't deserve you." I'm sure AnonymousBosch could pick that apart better than I could.

But by and large, it does what it needs to do: give the DC movies a straightforward superhero flick. That's been a failing of DC's movies since Man of Steel. If I wanted to watch a bunch of incompetent freaks in goofy outfits being assholes to each other for two hours, I'd sign up for a class at Evergreen College. Wondy's sheltered and inexperienced and she thinks the solution to ending World War I is simpler than it is, but at least she wants to save lives and end a conflict because she believes these are the right things to do. Basically, Every Superhero Movie Ever - but again, that's really all it needed to be to build interest in what's been a very shaky and inconsistent franchise the last several years.

There were also a few minor mentions of the Daily Planet covering the numerous SJWs protests at US colleges and viewing the "woke" protesters as wonderful Bolshevik fighters for truth and justice. There were mentions of Global Warming and the Rising of the Seas - guess Al Gore is still valid in the Justice League universe.

Fuck them. They will lose some 200-300 mio. $. Thor Ragnarok made 200-300 mio. $ while it cost 120$ mio. less.
