Although I agree with your analysis, I don't think he'll give it up. The same ego/drive that helped mold his oldest son into a top 5 draft prospect isn't likely going to go away soon if ever. People don't change easily, especially the ones that aren't afraid to say and believe crazy things. Know several people like this in my family who poured it all into their kids - without exception, their kids are very successful and yet can't stand being around their parents because they still can't chill out.

Unless he starts smashing a Kardashian/Jenner hoe he will be yesterday's news real damn quick.

One thing you guys are missing is that there is a HUGE group of people who collect basketball shoes. They're like expensive basketball trading cards to these people. And it's not just the guys like DJ Khaled doing it. They don't even wear them.

So for these guys, to be able to get a limited edition, first run of a no name college player (with the potential to go massive?), it's like having the chance to get a ultra rare shiny charizard.

The pre-orders are mostly speculative shoe resellers who are gambling on Ball blowing up. If not all the shoes end up in eBay for like $150.00-200 bucks. Likely part of the plan to spec so high on the initial price from his family.

Of course they could try it. The NBA is about as plantation as it gets politically. A strong, entreprenuer-minded, and bombastic nuclear family intimidates them. They are not used to that. They are used to single parent home players and the ones that do have fathers, are usually super quiet or are former players like Steph's dad.

Lavar is that stereotypical hoverdad that people laugh at, that puts everything into his son being a star, except his son actually is one. Usually these kids flame out in travelball, collegeball, AAU, etc. That just makes people want to hate them more for that.

They could just get used to dude and his dad being a distraction like this, and mostly ignore them, but they will be challenged and shitted on anytime there is an opportunity.

I agree heavily with ElJefe as well. Lavar is teaching people, not just black folks, how to think for themselves and how to be smart business wise. Even if they accept a buyout at some point, it will be for much more than what Lonzo probably could have signed on for now. He could smash James Harden's shoe deal possibly if they play their cards right. He's teaching all of us to sell ourselves and believe in our own product, don't let others try to sell you.

Kapernick was a VERY high draft prospect for MLB. Dude had a mid 90s fastball, like 95 or 96 if I recall correctly. Kap went to a Superbowl and two NFC championship games. If anything he is way more accomplished than Lonzo.

Kap just took his politics too far. The NFL does not mind players being political but the minute you start being a distraction or disrespect the flag, you are shortening your career right off the bat. Plenty players are either known Democrats or Republicans (Richard Sherman or Drew Brees come to mind), but you don't see them going way over the line. Sherman does tap dance it sometimes but he is usually super smart enough to know how far to go.

Kap started a trend of disrespect and double and then tripled down on it. The NFL is a "What have you done for me lately" League, but even then, with all the military and other sponsors (Bud Lite, etc) Kap isn't worth the circus, even if he could play decent. He chased off alot of white patriotic fans with his antics, as well as other color military folks were upset. Each owner knows that. Goodell can say no one is blackballing Kap, but that isn't true at all. He costs them more money than he can generate and they know it. It's just business.

Similar reason why Tim Tebow isn't in the league. He has lots of flaws, but he was serviceable. There are quite a few QBs right now in the NFL that are not better than Tebow. However, the daily Jesus Camp sideshows was not worth the circus and the drama. Baseball doesn't care about that, because they like that kind of stuff anyway, which is why he is there now.

I love Lavar. Guy clearly knows what hes doing and it seems hes a good father. I think he knows his son is a quiet guy so hes willing to sell his son for him. If his son is a legit star hes going to be rich as fuck.

In any case, Lonzo Ball can ball and is a legitimate talent, people are sleeping on him. He is by far better than the nr. 1 pick Fultz. I could see him becoming an all star for sure.
