I bought some at 335.
I predict it's gonna go up :-)
Seams like the sentiment is turning bullish. Seen a lot of bull predictions on twitter...
We could see a nice run, I've seen some guys shilling, predicting 800 in a few months.
Let's see.

Could use Independent Reserve if buying with AUD.
Myetherwallet.com for the wallet.

Kinda skeptical of this graph, I'm anticipating a crash or correction sooner rather than later.

All hardware wallets are best.

If you don't have a hardware wallet then I think myetherwallet is the best. MetaMask is also great.

For trading, although there are apparent issues with bitfinex and tether, I still think bitfinex has the best trading and lending platform.

South Korea came out strongly supporting ETH, and said they wouldn't crack down on ICO's like China...so the Asian market has heavily surged.

So I have this very-sparsely developed idea that Ethereum is “better” than Bitcoin.

Thoughts?

In case you were wondering reasons for rally. If you are expecting a drop back to 300 range you could be waiting forever.

Better in what way? They are very different from a technical point, with a different ideology behind it as well.

BTC = very conservative, with a focus on store of value, don't break anything, small and slow but steady improvements.

Ethereum = tries to do everything (main focus will be apps and smart contracts), quick but less secure development.

Really, you could write a book on both... You should probably spend a few hours studying the history of both and you'll get a decent idea about the philosophy.

From an investing POV, I still favour BTC for the near/mid-term, but I have some ETH as well... Both have are at ATH though now...

RE: The Ethereum Thread (the alt coin to Bitcoin)
How does the ETH market get the momentum to run up from $50+ in 2 hours and then return back in another 2 hours?? Is it:

1. Whale Manipulation
2. $500 resistance level
3. $500 sell off
4. Mixture of all 3
5. Something else????

Just trying to wrap my head around whats going on and why the market does what it does. I sold at $510 and bought back in at $490. I had some fomo for awhile and then my buy order filled as the price continued to drop. Should be happy I came out ahead, but I went from worried it'd wouldn't hit $490 again and I'd missed the boat to wishing I'd set my buy order at $475.

I guess thinking about it, it is only a 10% swing and this is crypos.

There are a lot of big shot companies that raised alot of eth in their ICO's, when ETH crashes it is usually because companies are cashing out to like, you know, pay their staff and other company expenses. So these same companies are often competing to cash out at the best prices. This is one of the reasons ETH was stable at 300 dollars for so long.

RE: The Ethereum Thread (the alt coin to Bitcoin)
Found a great resource explaining Ethereum, and associated concepts. It also goes into a bit of detail when transactions don't go through and what to expect when you lose your private key or have other issues:

https://myetherwallet.github.io/knowledge-base/

It's basically a Wikipedia created by myetherwallet. Once again, Myetherwallet.com (MEW) providing some solid support to the ecosystem.

Block gas limit has been increased from approximately 6.5M to 7.5M. Gas limit is similar to block size limit in Bitcoin - i.e. this helps process more transactions in a given block.

UBS and Six Other Banks to Use the Ethereum Network for Data Reconciliation

Quote:According to a CoinDesk report, a plan by UBS and some of the world’s other large banks to use the Ethereum network as a method of complying with a new set of regulatory standards has been revealed. UBS is also known for heading the development of the Utility Settlement Coin, a cryptocurrency designed to transfer money from bank to bank.

The plan, which has been called the ‘Massive Autonomous Distributed Reconciliation Platform’ (also known as Madrec), has been created to ease the process of data reconciliation between UBS, Barclays, SIX, Credit Suisse, KBC, and Thomson Reuters. In the past, banks have used codes called ‘legal entity identifiers’ to complete their clients’ transactions, even if those clients do not have the codes themselves.
