Eyes Wide Shut
I just watched Eyes Wide Shut. It was director Stanley Kubrick's last movie and starred Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman as a married couple. It certainly investigated a lot of the dynamics of marriage, cheating, and temptation. What does everyone else here think of the movie?

It was certainly nice to watch Cruise act like a normal man again. He was cool back then--married to Nicole and always playing men who were easy to identify with and understand.

We get to see a lot of Nicole Kidman. Almost immediately, there is a naked shot of her in her prime. I don't know if I remember seeing her like this before. That alone made the movie worth watching.

For whatever reason, this movie holds the record for longest shoot. It took 400 days. Kubrick apparently had a reputation for long shoots.

RE: Eyes Wide Shut
Absolutely a great film.

To really understand this and any other Kubrick films you have to watch them at least twice to get all of the details and then watch an explanation of it.

I'm of the belief that Kubrick exposed some of the satanic rituals that the elite play around with via film and they offed him because of it. The orgy scene itself has been altered with strange and arbitrary cuts. A lot of film buffs write about it. Theory holds that Tom Cruise's character saw a ritualistic murder and the studio couldn't handle it so they removed.

Just rented, in the queue for this week. Thanks for the reminder. Saw it in the theater with my girlfriend when it came out, it didn't really soak in at the time, I was a just a kid.

One of the greatest movies out there and depicting the likely truth about our true upper-tier elite.

Kubrick was likely killed soon after. After his death they cut out 15 minutes out of the movie.

The symbolism of the movie is quite interesting. Even the street names have a certain meaning - stop the movie whenever you can see a street-name - best done on high-quality DVD.

In my top 5. Definitely an excellent movie. A LOT to think about and contemplate, especially in modern times with NWO, Deep State, etc.

RE: Eyes Wide Shut
The least interesting aspect to contemplate about Eyes Wide Shut is any supposed "Deep State" connection, or fantasies of Kubrick being murdered because of it. The film is adapted from a 90 year old novel, which was portraying a time a further 50 years prior to that. There is a lot less mystery in the elaborate parties of the very wealthy and bored, which have been going on since forever, than dudes want there to be. Focusing on that is to miss completely a useful "red pill" lesson about women and relationships that no doubt woke up a few men, married or otherwise.

RE: Eyes Wide Shut
I posted this in the pizzagate thread but is also relevant here:

A while ago I read somewhere that Kubrick's original idea for the orgy scenes in the film was to expose the fact that young boys and girls were being abused at these illegal elite private parties, but I don't know if there is any evidence for him saying or writing that.

Kubrick's daughter Vivian Kubrick has done some interviews with Alex Jones (who is himself most likely controlled opposition) where she alludes to some of this stuff, but she doesn't come across as 100% mentally stable and was estranged from her father for a long time, so take what she says with a lot of caution.

Alex Jones says he has had private conversations with her where she mentions a lot more....but like everything with him, you never get to the bottom of anything. All you get with Alex Jones are years and years of endless teasers with no payoff or moneyshot.

This.
I mentioned that in another thread a while ago, since we discuss this movie about four times every year at least:

Let's not forget that the movie is an adaption of Austrian writer Arthur Schnitzler's 1926 novella "Traumnovelle/Dream Story". Required reading in high school over there, but that might have changed.

It's not only an adaption, it is a very close adaption. There isn't much in the movie plot-wise that isn't already in the original book, with the exemption of Ziegler I think.

The movie being altered is another example of why it's important not to throw out old copies of films and television series' just because "I have Netflix now".

I've already noted subtle changes in Netflix versions of films from the originals and while some of it is probably to dodge classification issues, there's no doubt that it will be used for cultural whitewashing too.

RE: Eyes Wide Shut
I saw it opening night and I remember being really excited cause there was tremendous buzz around it, because of the long shoot, Kubrick's death, and the real life relationship of Tom and Nicole.

I was really into it but remember it felt so long. And then it just abruptly ends. I was convinced that it was unfinished and the studio put it out as is cause Kubrick was already dead and nobody would know better.

I have enjoyed it more and more upon rewatching it over the years. I still think it feels "incomplete" but I love the lighting, the costumes at the party, and the intensely eerie music.

Also, the girl that hits on Tom early in the movie, named Nuala (Stewart Thorndike), was insanely hot, in a movie full of insanely hot women. I scoured imdb for more info on her but it looks like this was her only role.

She's the one on Tom's right arm.

If you haven't come across Jay Dyer, he is one of the best Conspiracy/Cultural/Philosophical analysts out there. RE: Eyes Wide Shut
I have seen Eyes Wide Shut mentioned several times on this board. I couldn't find a thread for the movie though. This discussion also answered the question: What am I supposed to look for in this movie? I knew there were hidden meanings and messages, but I hadn't caught them. So, thanks for all the comments.

As an aside, I also decided to watch another Kubrick movie a couple days ago--The Shining, which was adopted from a Stephen King novel. It certainly shows Kubrick's power as a director. A commentary on the movie points out that Kubrick has red visible in almost every scene, so it definitely says something about his use of color.

Kubrick definitely intends for his movies to be watched on the big screen. I have a lot more appreciation for him as a director now. I was thinking about just starting a Kubrick thread instead.

RE: Eyes Wide Shut
I think The Shining is his most powerful work.

Honestly, Eyes Wide Shut is a bit boring movie to me. Also I am always for occult/conspiracy theories but I am skeptical regarding whole "murdered because of this movie" thing. Movie does depict some kind of occult, secret society obsessed with sex, but its not really a big deal. There is no concrete finger pointing like modern conspiracy theorists do (close example Pizzagate). Why would he be killed for that?

RE: Eyes Wide Shut
I listened again to the analysis by Jay Dyer posted above. He compares this movie to the the one based on John Fowles' book, "The Magus," as well as David Fincher's "The Game."

All of these movies are basically esoteric bildungsromans, that is, spiritual coming of age or awakening stories. People start out fumbling around, searching for deeper understanding in some way, like the Fool in the tarot deck, they are innocent, and not unintelligent, though a long way from wisdom. They think they are near the top of the game, and that they know what is going on, but their eyes are wide shut.

The main character in each of these films thinks he is in mastery of himself, doing some sort of explorations, when in fact, everything that happens to him has all been staged, and there are puppet masters behind whatever seems random or happenstance.

They get drawn in to something way deeper than they are ready for from boredom, lust, curiosity, and as they continue onward, all of their innocence drops away, and the come out the other end very disillusioned, not just about the world, but about themselves and their place in the world that turns out to be on a far lower plane than they have previously assumed.

Dyer connects this pretty seamlessly to how our lives are, how much of our beliefs are illusions, created for us by the media, to keep us confused and uncertain, and even traumatized and willing to be led. He compares the characters playing roles in these movies to trick the protagonist to our leaders creating false narratives to make us easy to manipulate.

He says that they are basically "crisis actors," and says that he believes they are similar to the crisis actors who help sell events in the world to an unsuspecting public.

I like Dyer. He is probably the most intellectual and level headed of all the conspiracy guys I come across on the internet. This video is pretty long, though clear headed and illuminating, and worth a listen.

"Never underestimate the power of millions of lonely men."

if you are interested in Kubrick, the documentary Operation Avalanche is interesting. Its a documentary about him faking the moon landings. I saw it a long time ago and it was fairly persuasive. Of course, they claimed afterwards that it is a faux documentary.

Anyway, its worth watching. There are some curious coincidences in the Shining related to the Moon landings

^Regarding that there is movie starring Ron Perlman and Rupert Grint called Moonwalkers. Basically, CIA is tasked to hire Kubrick to direct moon landing. It has 6.1/10 on imdb but its watchable and at times funny comedy.

https://www.seeker.com/faked-moon-landin...04443.html

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-de60B9T...nwUzBIIrze

There are at least 4 good clues Kubrick might have put in The Shinings that connect to the idea that he directed staged studio moon landings:

-The kid's sweater above. This is probably a custom-made knit sweatrer, it looks hand-made, and it portrays an event that happened 11 years ago, when it was no longer part of the zeitgeist. And of course we know how incredibly meticulous Kubrick is about every detail appearing in his film.

-"A11 work and no p1ay makes Jack a dull boy" pagefulls.

This might be a clue to Kubrick showing the drudgery of having to work really hard on a project void of artistic merit yet incredibly demanding technically, with the additional mental strain of having to keep it all secret. Notice that the typewriter fonts of the lower-case L and the number one are totally identical, so "All" - A11, short for Apollo 11. As in, all this Apollo 11 shooting has really worn him out. Another clue.

-The room number represents the exact distance from the earth to the moon at the time of the shooting (this distance varies slightly due to the moon orbit path).

-The hexagonal pattern of the wall to wall carpet replicates the hexagonal pattern of the Apollo landing pad.

those are the clues I remember. I'm not sure if they've been covered in Hypno's content above, his links don't work...

Second the Jay Dyer recommendation, top-flight guy and a great channel.

Are you also familiar with the Boiler Room and Sunday Wire shows/podcasts, debeguiled? Jay is usually onf these live panels, along with journalist Patrick Henningsen (who's been doing a phenomenal coverage of the situation in Syria).

Henningsen is one of the founders of 21st Century Wire, a news site that very high up on the fake fake news list that the establishment put up a couple of months ago. 21st Wire are kind of a smarter, uncompromized, lower-cost Infowars (Henningsen did some work for them and for RT). Dyer is part of the team.

Very good material and lively panel banter on those two weekly shows, highly recommended:

Coincidentally, I watched this movie for the first time last week.

What stood out for me is Tom Cruise's lack of charisma. Especially that scene with the hot women hitting on him at the party (someone posted a pic above). Even though he's acting, his lack of charisma in real life (and soullessness) comes through when he's trying to spit game.

I'm on a 90s movie kick. Some good ones. Watched Basic Instinct over the weekend. Good flick. Maybe I should start a 90s moves thread.

Take care of those titties for me.

I don't think that Cruise's lack of charisma in this role is a coincidence.

He was meant to be a bland while successful doctor who stumbled upon a group powerful enough that his looks/millions in the bank/education meant nothing to them. They actually amused themselves playing with him a bit while Ziegler held back the hounds.

Cruis'e character was meant to be shown as irrelevant to these people despite being normally the good-looking charismatic guy. All of that pales to the real power of this world and that wa a good presentation of it.

Exactly Zel, in a way Kubrick chose Cruise precisely because he's the kind of a brash male icon who's on top of the world in his other roles, taking that persona and knocking it down a few notches. Also his past experience with Kidman gives the couple a worn out/lived in dynamic.

So let me get this straight, many of you guys think there are allusions and clues to Kubrick faking the moon landings in his movie "The Shining" but merely trying to have a thread that tries to discuss the idea of a flat earth is crazy talk ?
