RE: American Airlines Fiasco
Being an asshole costs money.
The mom was an asshole and the steward was an asshole.
The correct way to handle this would be:
Mom: "But can I please keep my stroller in the back galley?"
Steward: "No ma'am, it is a safety hazard. It was to go down in checked luggage."
Mom: "But i'm a mother and can do anything! United let's me do it!"
Steward: "Ma'am unfortunately on this flight you can't. If you won't check the stroller, we'll have to escort you off of the flight."
Mom: "But i'm a special snowflake!"
Steward to airline cop: "Hey I have a rowdy woman on the flight. Can you give her a talking to so she'll check her bag?"
Cop: "Sure"
Cop to mom in a stern voice: "Ma'am, what you're doing is a safety hazard and we can't allow you to do it. If other airlines have let you do this, then they're at fault and can get into a lot of trouble. If you're not going to check the stroller I will have to ask you to come with me. "
* Cop flashes badge, gun, etc"
Mom: "Ok..."
If the woman got hysterical, then escalate appropriately. That bald toad of a steward needed to chill the f*ck out and the mom needs to let her god damn stroller go.

RE: American Airlines Fiasco
Making a lot of assumptions here but of course the full story isn't known and the video only begins with the crying woman with the child in her arms.
Did a quick googling on stroller policies and came across this from the AA site:
https://www.aa.com/i18n/travel-info/spec...ildren.jsp
Quote:Strollers
Each ticketed customer is allowed 1 stroller. Only small, collapsible and light strollers (up to 20lbs/9kgs) can be checked at the gate. Any stroller that weighs over 20lbs/9 kgs, is too large or is non−collapsible must be checked at the ticket counter.
Customers are allowed 1 stroller and 1 car seat per ticketed passenger. Both items may be checked at the ticket counter or one item can be checked at the gate and one at the counter. These items are checked at no charge, when traveling with a child or to adopt.
-We never see the stroller in the video; was it a large, cumbersome stroller that broke policy, and he took it as a result while she did the whole "no don't take that I need it"? Stroller tug of war and when he grabs it he "almost hits the baby"? And he's not at the start of the video because he's off getting the stroller checked and then he "returns".
-Also, she's seen holding two babies at one point: did she have two strollers, and if the children weren't "ticketed passengers" that wouldn't meet the one-stroller-per-ticket policy? Don't know enough about her and her situations (or who she is) (or where the father is...)
So what I wonder is:
-Did the FA sufficiently communicate the stroller policy at the time and the woman was hysterical/refused to hand it over?
or
-Did he just grab it and generally be a dick about it?
What unfolded and the amount of clear and calm communication is key. Of course we don't know, because "Surain Adyanthaya" only begins recording after the fact with no context on what happened beforehand, so we're left with:

RE: American Airlines Fiasco
The Mom was overwhelmed and didn't understand that you drop it off at the end of the jetbridge. Instead she takes it on. Flight attendant probably had a shitty day, just got gassed up and overzealous.
People are assholes. Flight attendants are divas. I've dealt with many in my year working for an airline. Most people fly once or twice a year. They don't understand the procedures. Attendant just had to calmly tell the woman, I'll take that stroller for you. You look overwhelmed Ma'am. You will be able to pick it up in the jetbridge at you final destination.
We don't know what really happened. If I had to choose a side, I would say the flight attendant was in the wrong. The woman is stupid for bringing the shit on the plane, but I always assume people are stupid and I educate them on the policies calmly.
You don't know how many times I've heard, "my flights delayed, get me another plane." "Why did you take my plane and give it to someone else?" American entitlement is one of the craziest thing you deal with in customer service.
The cycle of disrespect can start with just an appetizer.

RE: American Airlines Fiasco
No win situation.
Not saying this is what is happening in this situation, but women will do anything to appear to be right, including put their children at risk. I have seen it in restaurants, parks, on the street, on balconies, anywhere. People always talk about a mother's instinct to protect their children, but that is nothing compared to their deep instinct to win the moral battle.
They like being right. They like drama. They like inconveniencing other people. They like getting other people on their side. They like crying. They like playing the mommy card. They like playing the woman card. They like playing dumb. They like moments of high emotion and high drama. And they love lying about what happened later, especially to the police.
In the throes of showing some stranger (who they didn't even know existed a moment before) who is boss, all reason and prudence go out the window. They will use their children as emotional and sometimes literal shields, putting them right in the path of a waitress with a hot pot of coffee, or out in the middle of a busy bike path or street, and then play the victim when something bad happens to their own child, because by then they are in too deep to admit they are in the wrong. I have seen it many times, the child used as a pawn in a woman's fierce drive to put someone else in their place.
It will never happen, but airline personal should be given training in red pilled female psychology and ready for situations like this, or they are completely defenseless whenever something like this happens. Look at how the emotion was so high, and how the only one who seemed comfortable with it was the woman, luxuriating in her tears, while everyone else was tense, uncomfortable, and suckered into acting from emotion not sense, from the flight steward to the virtue signaling white knight. A woman crying is making herself feel better while she makes everyone else feel worse.
High emotion is their battlefield, and those who don't know it, and prepare for it, are sunk.

I had a stewardess in my rotation. She once told me that there are people that think their plane has been waiting at the gate for them for days. Unreal.

Basically, the mom is a loser, the employee is a loser, and the white knight is a loser, although the white knight is arguably the least culpable since his only offense appears to be that he is/was a white knight. Was the mother remotely injured when she was hit with the stroller? If not, that makes everyone's actions even more ridiculous and unacceptable.
Edit: Would bang the girl with the french braided dark hair who walked by before the white knight went off the handle. The white knight would have beaten the hell out of the employee. Since the employee was already acting inappropriately, he should have told the white knight that he was only trying to bang the lady who was causing the problem. At least then, it would have been somewhat funny.

It's win-win.
"I can count on one hand, literally, the number of women I have ever met that can take that kind of advice, accept it and make use of it without their epic egos setting metaphorical fire to the conversation.
Most women "looking for advice" are in reality looking for someone to validate their cosmic victimhood, because it's not really their fault, because it's never their fault. This behavioural trait isn't absent among men, but when we fail society cares not, while when women fail there is no shortage of comforting platitudes on offer from every vector."

Sounds like that Achromatic Mike guy was basically correct again though. First he called out the fucked up passenger on United that turned out to be a gay, felon pill-popper... then he called out how this idiot probably accidentally got bumped. Smart guy. ...or maybe it's just that half a million air miles teaches you that the odds are 50 to 1 that the fellow-passengers are the problem so the odds were in his favor.

From Eric (a guy on the flight)
"I was on this flight directly across the isle from the woman filming the video. This is what I observed:
1.) woman gets on the plane pushing a car seat type stroller with one child in it, carrying a second child on her hip and dragging behind a very large folded stroller that was too big for the overhead bin or to go under a seat.
2.) the flight attendant shown in the video approached from the back of the plane and informed her in a calm manner that there was nowhere to store the stroller. The woman immediately escalated the situation and within about 30 seconds was screaming at him at the top of her lungs.
3.) the flight attendant evidently decided she was not fit to be on the flight (in my opinion the correct decision) and started to move her and her children towards the front of the plane.
4.) when they got to the from of the plane the woman decided she was not going any further. The flight attendant picked up the stroller and lifted it over his head to try and move past the woman. As he was doing this she pushed him and the stroller fell a bit and struck her in the face. She began crying loudly and dramatically. Shortly after this is where the video begins.
5.) The first class passenger then inserts himself into the drama with his faux chivalry but clearly has no idea what has transpired in the back of the plane since he was in a window seat in the first class section of the plane and could not have viewed the incident from his seat.
6.) after another 10 minutes or so the woman exits the plane only to be returned about 5 minutes later and taken to her seat. We wait another 30-40 minutes while various flight and ground crew come and go speaking to the woman. After about 40 minutes she deplanes again this time telling all of the passengers, who are now becoming vocal in support of the flight crew, that all she wanted was an apology from the flight attendant. Evidently that's what the 40 minute delay was all about. Then we waited another 10 minutes for the ground crew to find and remove her luggage from the belly of the plane.
7.) the flight finally leaves and arrives in Dallas an hour or so late. American representatives are waiting at the gate to speak with the first class passenger who made the threats. What I heard was a very apologetic tone coming from two American employees, as if the airline had done something to upset the first class passenger.
8.) when I entered the bag claim area the first class passenger was right in front of me and as soon as he made it through the revolving door there was a camera crew waiting for him on the other side to interview him. That's about as factual of an account as I can provide and I realize there may be other parts of this story that I do not know about or did not witness. From what I saw: a.) if anyone from American should have been punished it should be the ground crew who somehow letting this woman on board with a full size stroller. The flight attendant was put in a horrible situation by a passenger that most passengers in my immediate area thought seemed unstable. She escalated the situation, not him. b.) in my opinion, the first class passenger should have been removed. Had the flight been in progress he might very well have been arrested upon landing for threatening a crew member. Additionally, he could not have seen any of the back of the plane antics of the woman based on where he was seated. c.) I agree the flight attendant may have reacted too harshly in responding to the threatening customer in first class, but his actions with the woman in question were professional throughout the ordeal. I am disappointed American has chosen to punish him."
