Has Anyone Tried Their Hand at Screenwriting?
I was just wondering if anyone has tried their hand at screenwriting? I feel like we have some phenomenal writers here. There is no reason we cannot go toe to toe with the writers that currently take up office in Hollywood right now. Compared to most of the garbage content that is on TV or on the silver screen today, we could publish pure gold. I know we might not have the name recognition or financial capital, but for what we don't have we have in financial capital we have more in human capital (knowledge, ideas, associations). The original moviemakers of Hollywood were immigrant Jews who arose out of schtetls or ghettoes. Who is to say we cannot do the same and make an empire of our own?

Me. I began because I felt I had skills for writing in general and once I read an article about the 'easiness' of screenwirting and how it could develop your skills for writing a novel.
Yes, this forum is pure gold, it's a compemdium of knowledge which rivals with the largest libraries of the World.

With God's help, I'll conquer this terrible affliction.

RE: Has Anyone Tried Their Hand at Screenwriting?
I've written a few story outlines before, but have yet to write a screenplay. I'd seriously consider collaborating with some fellow RVF'ers on a red pill project, though.

There's writing and then there's screenwriting. The former can be enjoyed for its own sake, whilst the latter is presumably engaged in with the aim of seeing one's words/story come alive on a screen. A red pill screenwriter would have to figure out how to actually get his screenplay produced, which would be a chore since liberal Hollywood isn't likely to green light anything us RVF'ers would actually want to watch.

Essentially, you'd have to find a deep-pocketed conservative producer(s), as well as cast and crew that wouldn't mind alienating themselves from Hollywood, etc. I'd love to imagine such a thing being possible, but one has to wonder why an anti-Hollywood hasn't already been created. I mean, if Donald Trump's presidential election has proved anything, it's that there's a huge market for things politically incorrect/anti-leftist narrative.

I'd MUCH rather see what some of us could come up with than watch Hollywood remake yet ANOTHER shitty 70s TV show into a movie.

I don't know if that's necessarily true. I've had an idea bouncing around for a while that would require much less funding, but would need a very good actor. I think that's how the anti-Hollywood gets started. A viral Blair Witch project. The distribution probably the real cockblock, though. I can't imagine Regal Theaters agreeing to show a real red pill movie.

Some of the comments on that post had me crying. Some chick tried to hijack the thread into something she wrote, and got this response -

"Summary: Some dumb cunt who lost 30lbs. all of the sudden thinks she’s Lance fucking Armstrong relating a story about some poor slob who had the audacity to ask how he can get a girl like her. She goes on to berate the guy for his unkempt appearance and tout her accomplishments: “the cuffs on your shirt are ripped and there’s a stain on it. Are you a five star chef? Because I won’t date anyone who’s not professionally accomplished and also managed to gain the cooking skills of a five star chef in their personal time. I spend an hour and a half a day meticulously grooming my pubic hair and attaching suction pumps to my titties to make them bigger while penning a novel and a screenplay and several songs for the punk band that I’m only in because the lead singer wants to fuck me. What have you done lately?”

Well, I’m sorry, bitch, that I had the balls to try to talk to you wearing a pair of ripped up Carharrts and a pipe dope stained hoodie. I just spent the last eight hours hanging sticks of four inch rigid conduit that weigh more than you do twenty fucking feet in the air. Excuse me for not ducking inside a phone booth and throwing on a fashionably metrosexual, 60’s era three-piece suit like I’m Ryan fucking Gosling on the red carpet before I had the balls to ask for your number. Fucking schifosa puttana.

This is the only reasonable way to talk to a girl like that:"

Then it linked to that scene from The Wire where Cutty slaps the taste out of some girls mouth.

RE: Has Anyone Tried Their Hand at Screenwriting?
Another gem from the same commenter -

"God, I hope there’s never a pretentious pile of shit like “American Beauty” made ever again, that movie was almost as bad as “Garden State”.

I love how you find out at the end that it’s not Kevin Spacey(the gayest fucking actor in Hollywood) who’s gay, the guy who, when he fantasizes about fucking a high school cheerleader, pictures rose petals fluttering down around her half-naked body on a satin sheet covered bed, instead of hanging her head over the edge of it and facefucking her till he busts a big gulp-sized nut down her throat like every other heterosexual male on the face of the planet. Nothing gay about that. No, it’s the former Marine who’s a the queer. His whole Marine hard-ass act is just a cover for his repressed homosexuality.

Or maybe it’s a great movie and I’m just not a deep enough thinker to undertsand and appreciate all the subtle symbolism and complexities of this masterpiece. Was the plastic bag used as a paragon of beauty supposed to symbolize that, yes, even a piece of trash, like the movie itself, can be beautiful? Was the trash bag supposed to symbolize the movie itself? I don’t know.

Maybe DT can analyze “American Beauty” – unravel the complexities and tell us how it relates to modern masculinity. One of my favorite movies of all time is “Nothing but Trouble” where Dan Akroyd plays the fucking 100-year old judge in that funhouse with the deadly rollercoaster, so I don’t know shit about what makes a good movie."

This guys like my new favorite writer and I've only read two of his posts.

[email protected] Triad-Delicious Taco's whole blog is gold, 90 percent is dead on and brutally honest. Start with the early posts back when he was a degenerate drug addict working for a major production house in roughly 2011-2012 to now. He quit the drugs now and his exploits are not as spectacular but the site is one of the best the Manosphere has to offer, the commenters are fucking hilarious as well. The only site that was as good is The Last Psychiatrist but he stopped posting in 2014, still has deep insight though.

Do you think hollywood wants any screenplays that don't include "gurrrl power". FFS even the smurfs 2 has been made as a girl power movie.

It seems like the only real way female actresses get roles is through casting couches. Too bad, female directors don't have casting couches for men because I feel I would clean up in that category.

I am an author and have performed comedy in the past. I'd love to work on a comedy script inspired by the red-pill with someone else or a team. As a professional author I have a lot to contribute, but my main weak spot is my English. it's my second language. PM me if you want to discuss a project.

Edit: working on a "Elliot Rodgers" drama also appeals to me.

I know a former Hollywood screenwriter. He's purple pill. His embittered take on the scene is that one must offer one's ass for a gangbang raping if one wants to have his screenplay turned into a film. Even then, industry insiders will steal your ideas and make sure you don't make a dollar off of them.

He decided to take his intellect to law school and seems to be doing more of the raping these days.

Hollywood is their game on their terms. If you have ideas, make them happen on your terms.

RE: Has Anyone Tried Their Hand at Screenwriting?
If you want do writing, I say write your own novels and publish them yourself. You can do this for about a thousand dollars at minimum.

Unless you have cash to produce your own screenplay, I wouldn't try screenwriting. That will still cost you at least $50,000.

Writing is easy. The big challenge is getting someone to buy your writing.

For many reasons, creativity is pretty much dead in screenwriting right now. One big reason is that Hollywood produces movies for China as much as for America. They avoid anything that will piss off Chinese censors. They also focus on action films and such because those are much easier to translate.

RE: Has Anyone Tried Their Hand at Screenwriting?
I've been writing and making my own movies for a decade. I must not be that good, or you'd figure something would have broken out by now.

Anyway, after driving to LA like a schmuck at 19 years old, trying to pitch some bullshit high school movie I wrote, I ended up just self-funding and directing three features myself because I wanted to actually make movies, not sit around waiting for someone to pay for them.

The last two were decent.

In my opinion, if you set out to make a specifically ideological film like "I will make a red pill movie" or something like that, it is as weasely as the leftists and will never turn out good.

If you write because you have a burning desire to articulate a theme about the human condition, and you are willing to approach it from every possible angle to do a full exploration of that theme (all possible points and counter-points), and you can facilitate your actors to be alive and to be multifaceted characters instead of pro and against mouthpieces of the author...

...well, then you'll have something. And it will be red pill after all because it will be true.

All this shit that you rightfully see as being shit, is shit because it is either purely escapist or purely nihilist, and hence untrue and not beautiful.

American Beauty is a giant piece of faggot-prop shit, and I rightfully torn it down as such when I saw it during my days as a 19 year old weirdo in film school. Everyone else thought it was oh so neato and cool. Film school really sucked.

You should follow twitter.com/willieromeburns - he knows his stuff, he's one of us, and is of the opinion that the successful films these days will be able to appeal to the Chinese market (see the latest star wars thing).

I've been tossing around some ideas about setting up a film studio with him and some other guys (despite that enormous still birth that took up a year and a half of my life), honestly I'm not sure if I'm really cut out to be a film maker - the medium is so much different than writing. But if you're interested, he's a guy you should get to know.

Great find.

Couple of buddies from high school are making their living as screen writers and directors. Got their connections to the industry first by working peripherally to writing and directing (Special effects).

They were like you and me going in, plenty of passion and big ideas, and have ended up in low budget horror hell. I felt like I was missing out getting my college degree while they were in the industry at 21, and then later I didn't.

The changes in their character over the years was unnerving.

A million little compromises made one by one, starting with making a horror script, not because it was their passion, because it was where their connections were, and gamma hamstering it away saying things like, "Yeah, we snuck a weird one in on them," or "The French critics are the only ones who understood it."

I visited them on their sets back then and it was like every Hollywood cliche you could imagine. Washed up TV star has the lead and is acting like he is on the same level as DeNiro, pretending like he just stormed the beaches in WWII because he had a three minute scene with a child actor, and having everyone rush in to congratulate and commiserate with him. The Scandinavian model sidling up to my buddy, fake flirting with him (He didn't know that's what it was.) and asking him to write her into his next movie.

A year later, at his place in the Southland, and his girl is complaining because someone put some keys down on her designer table, and he is next to her, bragging about how much he pays for his lawyer, and confiding in me, saying, at first I thought I would never write bullshit romance into my movies, but it isn't that painful.

I go and see the movie, and for all his talk, I mean, it is just a standard, low budget horror flick. Well, my two buddies, they weren't horror guys growing up, they were comedians, satirists and intellectuals, except see, they had this Hollywood dream, and their way in was from the horror end of things, so they had to convince themselves they were horror guys, because that was where the work was for them, and if they had stayed true to their visions, they might have ended up one of the million or so waiters, busboys or clerks with some big project in the works that never gets produced.

That's why the standard joke about ice breakers in Hollywood is if you are standing next to a parking valet or a homeless dude or whoever in L.A., all you have to do to get a conversations started is say:

"So, how's the screenplay going?"

This was a while ago though, and I mean, yeah, they are both working, both making a living in the business, it's just they aren't living a dream specific to their own lives, they are living the Hollywood Dream. Most of the people who don't make it big, make it how they can and then rationalize away the soul killing aspects.

The main advantage for young folks today is that you have access to all the editing tools you need and you can also film the thing yourself, so you don't have to turn yourself inside out to get noticed by the gatekeepers, you can just make the thing and release it into the internet wilds and see what happens, while learning a lot of skills in the process.

Doing it the old fashioned way is pretty close to playing the lottery though.

I don't think the 'soul killing aspects' are a big deal. Making a living in 'the industry' sounds better than making a living in most other professions. It's creative and it's entertainment and it's light years better than being an insurance broker or something.

I would love to write an amazing screenplay tho. The beauty is you can just do it. If it's that good you would go far. Making a living in a non-creative 'industry' job sounds not that great.

^this is paid practice

I am a professional writer and I often have to work on projects that are not artistically challenging. Then I remember that, as someone who wants to make a difference, it's my job to make it artistically challenging. I remember that by doing the best job I can even when my ego goes "I'm too good for this", I'll develop skills that 99% of writers are too lazy to develop.

I consider great literature the combined result of practice and life experience. I'm getting paid handsomely to acquire both. When I release my "baby", it will not have been written by a snobbish 20 yr something who thinks the world owns him something but who was too lazy to learn what readers want, but by someone who wrote about what he lived and voiced in the most meaningful way.

Crazy that this thread popped up - my friends and I just decided to write my first screenplay earlier this week. Already have a character list and am working on an outline.

Looking forward to following this thread.
