For a quick example, just check out Greece - they're losing their arable land, water sources, ports, airports, railways, highways, islands, historical monuments and other critical resources as we speak.

Short answer - JDR set it all up, and his offsprings carried it through. He amassed the fortune through monopolies, but also set the mold of the dynasty's culture, which is still very much the same several generations later (very much like the Rotchschilds) and he was instrumental in setting up the modern system of crony capitalism and the modern structure of the American deep state.

He was also behind the modern PR industry, with Ivy Ledbetter Lee leading the effort. This work has guided the perception of the Rockefellers to this day. A lot of our modern institutions (education, healthcare, business) were shaped by the Rockefellers.
