Trump's political calculus is probably that he stands more to lose than gain if he goes after the Dreamers. He can get conservatives to vote for him just by keeping his promise to appoint conservative Supreme Court justices, so why do more than that minimum, and risk energizing his opponents? That's probably also one of the reasons he didn't try to prosecute Hillary.

I think a weakness of the far right is that they pinned all their hopes on Trump rather than recruiting a whole bunch of Congressional and state legislative candidates as well, the way the Tea Party did. The Tea Party primaried Republican candidates and thereby pushed them to the right or ousted them altogether. Maybe the far right should raise the specter of primarying Trump in 2020 over this DACA stuff; it might be an effective way to light a fire under his butt.

In states like Virginia, the Republicans aren't facing a lot of primary challenges from the right, but the Trump resistance has recruited quite a lot of Democratic candidates, enough to challenge Republicans in every district that Hillary Clinton carried in 2016. A lot of Republican politicians are retiring rather than run for reelection in this political climate. There's talk that Democrats might pick up 5-10 seats in Virginia House of Delegates election, 2017. If that kind of election result happens, in Virginia and other purple states, it's going to send a message to Trump that the leftists are better-organized than the far right, and that he needs to appease the leftists if he wants to win reelection.

The far right needs to start running more candidates, in order to keep the leftists on the defensive. David Duke stayed politically relevant by running for office several times, and built up street cred by demonstrating persistence and fortitude. I think even those who disagree with him have to respect the sacrifices that he made and the persecution he endured over the years for what he believed in. Leaders like that help inspire the next generation of activists.

If you want to discourage Trump from cucking out any more than he already has, then this is a good time to start preparing to run for Congress in 2018. If you're in a district where the Democrat usually runs unopposed, then you can force the Democrats to devote resources to that race. If you're in a district where there's usually a Republican running, then you can primary him and try to push him to the right a bit, or at least force him to answer some hard questions about his record.

I think it's important to remember that the "far right" didn't exist as an organized political movement until Trump came along. Outside of some very isolated think tanks, the far right was mostly people shitposting on message boards, and maybe Ann Coulter and Richard Spencer. There's simply no way they could've recruited candidates for legislatures, and they would've failed if they tried.

Disagree with this completely. David Duke is not politically relevant, and has never been politically relevant, except maybe to hurt the Republican party. He's an example of what happens when people who have nothing going for them but the "right" beliefs run for office: they walk straight into the "You're a racist!" buzzsaw, get sliced apart, and in the end just get the rest of the party splattered with blood.

Agreed that we need to start running new candidates, but where do we find them? How do we build them up? That's a good question but it's outside the scope of this thread.

Here's an article from the Washington Post with some recent statistics. It appears that I was somewhat off in my previous post; the article says that immigration arrests have gone up since January, compared to 2016. But, deportations are slightly down from 2016 (even while arrests are up).

It might be time to start grooming candidates from this community and others sympathetic to our goals. It would be challenging and a long term plan spanning years.

Six degrees of separation applies here, you'd be surprised how wide our networks can reach.

I know many people are hesitant and I haven't been great in this regard, but it may be time to organize off the internet for political purposes.

The tribal meetings were a good idea, but in my opinion we need a stronger vouching system and a layer of secrecy.

I'll say this and I deal with illegal aliens day in and day out. Over the past eight months to a year, predating Trump's inauguration, I have seen a drastic increase in people getting detained by immigration. It's extremely common now. Here's the thing. Immigration is now setting bonds and people are posting them. Quickly. Pretty much everyone I see getting detained I'd right back on the street quicker than ever. If there were a substantial likelyhood of those people being deported, really deported, forcibly taken out of the country, do you think they would be let out on bond so easily and quickly? The best reason for this is there are simply not enough judges and other resources. I don't know what the deportation statistics are and couldn't care less what they are. I see what I see. Mexico is not paying for a fucking wall. I feel sorry for anyone who believed that bullshit. I could see a wall going up, but I doubt it will happen. Saying it would be a huge expense would be the understatement of the century. In addition, a wall won't keep people out. It will just make it at least somewhat more difficult for people to come in. The coast guard has really done a bang up job in preventing millions of Cubans coming in on rafts and boats and such over the last fifty years. Some people who voted for fat boy will turn on him in a year or so. Some will still vote for him next time if he's still alive then. That's a big if. You heard it here.

I don't think anybody on the Trump side expects the president of Mexico to hand a giant, Publisher's Clearinghouse-sized check to a grinning Donald Trump, with the "for" section saying "The Wall". It's a nice fantasy, but it's never going to happen.

We'll just take it out remittances, or slap a tax on something then. Not super hard.

It might be fun to put a heavy tax on a bunch of stuff and crash the Mexican economy once the wall's up. As far as I'm concerned, they've treated us like an enemy nation for the past 20 odd years. It would be great to return the favor.

All those statements how colossal the costs to the US would be are ridiculous. You hire American companies, you employ American workers and already a good 50% gets redirected to the people.

Then all the estimations are out there - the WALL PAYS FOR ITSELF by stopping immigration! Someone calculated it I think that it would pay for itself if 4 months' worth of illegal migration would be stopped!

And of course you could raise a minor tariff tax with Mexico.

But I am not so sure whether it is going to get built.

He is restricting the Fed Govts power through the BLM and giving it back to the states.

Obama tried to stop development by designating mostly uninteresting patches of land as "national monuments". This is a rolling back of that trend. It's not like they're gonna sell of the water from Yosemite and start making bottled water from it.

Most people don't realize that the US is on the vanguard of a totalitarian state:

+ police state of unseen proportions - confiscation, SWAT teams, militarization of police, drug war excesses
+ property tax theft - property tax so high in the US that anyone not having a healthy income will be defrauded on his property so long as property prices are rising
+ draconian measures on food growing - some counties make it impossible to grow food on your own lawns
+ draconian measures on organic independent farms/ even general independent farms
+ ridiculous foods and additives that are banned in most Western countries because they are pure poison
+ for profit medical system that bankrupts many people
+ draconian vaccine laws that even take children away (despite some countries like Switzerland having an 85% vaccination rate and their children being more healthy, having lower child mortality by far than in the US)
+ 2 weeks of paid vacation per year which is on the very bottom in the Western world
+ draconian feminist YesMeansYes laws
+ draconian CPS agency that can take away your kids for any trumped up reason whatsoever
+ even the so-called freedom of speech is worth 10 times less, because a "sexist" dongle joke gets you fired in the Land of the Free while in France or Czech Republic or even Denmark your boss would be laughing with you and brushing it off
+ divorce laws that are the most oppressive to men in the known world


What has the US in return:

+ If you make it big, you make it bigger (someone making 100k in Europe makes usually 200-500k in the US, if he becomes a single-digit millionaire in Denmark, then he makes 50-100 mio. in the US)
+ more promiscuous girls, but useless since the Fatocalypse is and sausage-fest immigration is making the sexual market tougher than in most countries
+ liberty to arm yourself to your teeth and actually some freedom to use those weapons (yes - agreed that this is valuable, but the caveat is that the other side of thugs is armed as well and you are more likely to die getting shot than in Europe - also cops more likely to shoot you)
+ theoretically freedom of speech - you are not going to get fined by the state like in some European countries for "hate speech", but you may lose your job, because government agencies or companies will fire you quicker than in Europe

I have lived both in the US as well as in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Poland and Netherlands.

Each country offers advantages and disadvantages depending on your own individual situation. Currently I see the most freedom in Eastern Europe if you can make money in a way that does not depend on earning a local man's wage. In most European countries you often have more freedom than in the US. That is why many well-off and not so well-off are leaving the US - even giving back their citizenship. The US is great if you are an immigrant from a shithole or you are a billionaire. The rest of the lot in the middle - beware, because the country is out to get you.
