This is a word beginning with a capital N. And psychiatry, with its elevation of asserted identity over behaviour, is complicit in it. Her childhood is (apparently) that she had to be what everybody else told her to be. That pathology followed her into adulthood, except she decided to go with the black community as telling her what to think and who to be. She refuses to feel bad about any of it, mainly because she is protecting herself from a massive narcissistic injury: shame is exposure, and acknowledging other people are accurate in shaming her would be a serious blow to her identity. Notice how she says "Admitting you're wrong is easy in America, and everyone forgets about it 5 minutes later?" That's what she would love to happen to her, in reality - but doing so means she must agree with others' assessment of her, which, being a narcissist, she will do anything to avoid.

SJWs revel in garbage phrases like this. I think part of it is to obscure what they're really after (she reframes her manipulative fraud as "authenticity" to cover her ass and shield herself from narcissistic injury as Paracelsus describes above). But mostly these phrases are just verbal signals parroted without consideration to indicate membership in the "club" - they don't actually mean anything, they're simply magic words and verbal formulas which demonstrate one's standing with the moral and intellectual elect. Just think of all the try-hards you've encountered online whose utterances and hashtag-level arguments seem to be the product of a challenge to cram all the jargon they know into as few words as they can while making as little sense as possible.

Of course, whatever the speakers think they're accomplishing with its use, this empty jargon serves the rest of us as a useful and reliable indicator that we're dealing either with a con artist or a moron.

I'll say this: Dolezal is a significant piece of performance art. Eat your heart out, Shia LeBoeuf. Few people are capable of being both a laughing stock and an unintentionally important statement of how diseased our culture is.

She is an anthropomorphism of the utter stupidity of post-modernism, and what happens when you let it infect your culture, a walking version of the old "I identify as an AH-64 attack helicopter" meme.

The central question, and the lie at the heart of this idea that we are all just narratives and social constructs: if that's so, why did she need to put coffee grounds on her face and frizz her hair? She didn't need to do any of that to identify as black according to her own belief system. If genetics have nothing to with race, if it's solely a social construct that you are free to ignore or pick up and put down like a set of underpants, then logically her skin colour should not make any difference to whether she was part of the black community or not.
