Ridiculous Australian Feminist: Why I won't let any male babysit my children
http://www.stuff.co.nz/life-style/parent...y-children

Quote:I am determined to do everything I can to make sure my daughter is not a victim of abuse.

OPINION: When our first daughter was born my husband and I made a family rule: no man would ever babysit our children. No exceptions.

This includes male relatives and friends and even extracurricular and holiday programs, such as basketball camp, where men can have unrestricted and unsupervised access to children.

Eight years, and another daughter later, we have not wavered on this decision.

Group slumber parties are also out. When there is a group of excited children it is far too easy for one of them to be lured away by a father or older brother without being noticed.

When my daughter goes on play dates I make sure that she will be supervised by a woman at all times. So far she has only slept at one friend's house. Beforehand I spoke to my friend about our rule and clarified that if she's going to pop out to shops for example and intends to leave our daughter in the care of her husband or another man then the sleepover cannot happen.

As you can imagine, this was not an easy conversation to have. To my friend's credit, she respected our family policy even though she doesn't have the same rules herself. In subsequent play dates and sleepovers my friend has rearranged logistics so that she can be present at all times.

I am certain that some of my other friends and acquaintances would not react so graciously and would see my request as a direct attack on their husbands and/or their parenting choices. I am dreading the day when I have to have the same conversation with someone who will not be as understanding.

Would I prefer to be a more chilled out parent? Absolutely.

Will I change my family policy? Unfortunately, no. Child sexual abuse is so prevalent that I won't back down on my no-male-babysitters policy.

To be clear, I'm not saying that all men are sexual predators. Nor do I think that men harbour predatory instincts that lie dormant only to spring forth at the first opportunity.

But child abuse by men is so common that taking precautions to keep my daughters safe is a no-brainer.

According to the Australian Institute of Family Studies the prevalence of child sexual abuse is 1.4-8 per cent for penetrative abuse and 5.7-16 per cent for non-penetrative abuse for boys and 4-12 per cent for penetrative abuse and 13.9-36 per cent for non-penetrative abuse for girls.

To put those figures into context, the "best case" scenario is that 1 in 20 boys are sexually abused. The worst case is that 1 in three girls are.

Yes, women can also abuse, but as the Australian Institute of Family Studies' Who Abuses Children fact sheet makes clear, "Evidence overwhelmingly indicates that the majority of child sexual abuse is perpetrated by males."

An Australian Institute of Criminology 2011 paper "Misperceptions about child sex offenders" shows 30.2 per cent of child sexual abuse was perpetrated by a male relative, and 13.5 per cent by the father or stepfather.

A tiny 0.8 per cent of cases were perpetrated by mothers and stepmothers, and 0.9 per cent of child sexual abuse was perpetrated by a female relative.

The other categories of perpetrators were family friend (16.3 per cent), an acquaintance or neighbour (15.6 per cent), another known person (15.3 per cent) – without specifying the gender split.

Data from the US National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS) showed that males made up 90 per cent of adult child sexual assault perpetrators, while 3.9 per cent of perpetrators were female, with a further 6 per cent classified as "unknown gender".

While we're all terrified by the prospect of strangers abusing our kids and most of us would never let our young child walk around the streets by themselves, the Australian Institute of Criminology paper said that "in the vast majority of cases, children's abusers are known to them".

Children are at far greater risk from relatives, siblings, friends, and other known adults such as priests, teachers and coaches.

The blanket rule against allowing our daughters to be in the care of lone male adults means that we do not have to make a moral assessment of every man. My husband and I do not want to delve into the characters of every man that we know and assess whether or not they are potential sexual predators, so we apply our rule to all men to avoid casting aspersions on people.

We're also not sure if we can trust our judgement. If anything, the statistics suggest that many parents aren't very good at determining which male adults are safe and which are not.

No doubt some people will call me a man hater and react as if the protection of children is secondary to men's right not to be offended.

But dismissing this as a hysterical reaction of a misandrist is not only incorrect, it's also missing the point spectacularly. My husband and my decision is based on straightforward risk analysis: a cold, hard, unemotional reading of the statistical data.

When I look at my daughter's class lining up on assembly and think that statistically between one and nine of them are going to be sexually abused before they reach adulthood, I am determined to do everything I can to make sure my daughter is not going to be one of them.

I know it's a hard line, some would say extreme. But I also know that sexual abuse can rob a child of their self-worth and dignity in an instant – and it can take decades for those wounds to heal, if at all.

In this context, potentially hurting peoples' feelings is the price my husband and I are prepared to pay.

Her husband has classic cuck face.

With that, and her paranoid distrust of even male family members and relatives, I can safely bet that he's cucked by one of his or even her relatives and that daughter is not his.

Also this:

^ He's got a major case of cuck/gay/pedo face & she's got a major case of Emma Watson face.

With her level of commitment to her precious daughter's wellbeing, I'm surprised only by the fact that she would leave her with him.

So she's a relatively healthy, somewhat pretty female who gave birth to a child.

Right, can't imagine there's anyone else in human history with the same 'achievement'...

I'm assuming, to keep her daughter safe, she also supports a blanket ban on all Muslims then. After all, grooming and terrorism from that community is "so common" and she wouldn't want to "make a moral assessment" or "cast aspersions" on every individual Muslim. Am I right?

RE: Ridiculous Australian Feminist: Why I won't let any male babysit my children
Nothing like watching former "Have It All" career-woman feminists hit the wall of middle age and start ludicrously overcompensating in the other direction.

Her Wikipedia bio comes complete with punchline:

Quote:Edwards was born in Melbourne but spent part of her early childhood on the Indonesian island of Sulawesi. Her father was a teacher in an international school for workers in a Canadian nickel mine located in Sulawesi. Edwards attended Runcorn High School in Brisbane Australia. Edwards graduated with a business degree from QUT, Brisbane, Australia in 1996. She also is a Masters in Change Management and Innovation from Griffith University, Australia.

Edwards started her career in business working for the Australian Trade Commission and on Business Club Australia, the official business programs for the Sydney 2000 Olympics. She lived in the Netherlands for several years where she specialised in ebusiness consulting. Returning to Australia in 2004 she worked for management consulting firm SMS and then PA Consulting where she was made redundant when PA Consulting's Australian operations closed. In 2008 she became a change management consultant for SAP. She was made redundant from that role on the same day her first book was published.

Translation:

Born 1976. Father was low-T leftie teaching Western indoctrination to men who did real, dangerous jobs for a living. Came back to Australia, got a useless business degree, did a low-income equivalent of an internship in a government job. Fucked off to the leftie paradise of the Netherlands. Tried to make it self-employed. Couldn't. Failed, returned to Australia, had two more private sector bureaucrat jobs, was deemed unproductive/surplus to requirements from both, the last as she hit 28, i.e. as the thirties came along.

Having failed to compete in man's world, decides to make a career complaining about it instead - while being married to an income-earning white man.

Two of her books are confessional hamster-wheel riding and attendant panicking: 30-Something and the Clock is Ticking and 30-Something and Over It, the latter of which has the following, expected blurb on her own webpage:

Quote:Kasey Edwards has everything she’s always wanted: a successful career and the lifestyle and assets to match. But she’s empty and uninspired and doesn’t want to go to work . . . Ever again.

Terrified that she’ll spend the rest of her life wearing pinstripes and pretending to care about ‘adding value’, Kasey embarks on a quest to rediscover passion and purpose in her life and work.

We follow her on a journey of self-discovery as she looks for meaning in a puppy’s eyes, begs her gynaecologist to cure her existential crisis, dabbles with the Law of Attraction and braves ten days of silent meditation. Meanwhile, her best friend Emma, who is experiencing a similar crisis, concentrates her search in the fields of casual sex and vodka shots.

This irreverent yet poignant memoir will make you question our definition of the ‘perfect life’, laugh at the absurdity of the modern workplace and be warmed by the story of a friendship. Rise above your office cubicle for a moment and join Kasey in asking life’s big questions – and find the courage to listen to your answers.

Translation:

Fuck me, I'm 35.

Spoiler alert, Edwards manages to find a husband eventually and shit out a kid well past normal sane childbearing age, thanks a lot modern medicine. And it's fairly clear twenty years of abject failure in the business world has made her invest her feelings of competence and identity into being a mother, i.e. I failed as a do-it-all career woman, so I'll helicopter parent my (unfortunately) daughter to make up for it.

After all, absent drugs or alcohol, motherhood tends to be pretty difficult to fuck up.

As said, she's touchy about it. It's clear because she gets triggered when called a helicopter parent, and she has a curious obsession with child molestation:

Quote:And there is a dark side to unsupervised play that should not be overshadowed by climbing walls and mosaics. As one woman commented on Facebook: "My memories of unsupervised play as an under 10 and youngest of three include being sexually molested by older kids in cupboards; being beaten by my brother."

When my younger cousin climbed onto the roof of my double storey house, every adult in vicinity freaked out and then took precautions so that it would never happen again. My parents did not install ladders for easy roof access, as Lanza has done, and then encourage my cousin have another go.

When it comes to allowing kids to have more free time to play, instead of over-scheduling children with achievement-oriented activities, Lanza does have a point. Kids need the time and freedom to play, explore, and makes mistakes.

But I'm not going to apologise for not orchestrating scenarios and play equipment to deliberately expose my children to the unnecessary risk of physical harm. And I consider it my duty to teach my children to take turns, to be inclusive, empathetic and to manage conflicts without violence or cruelty.

She also tends to project on the fact she's still trying to run around like a headless chook making a career for herself rather than look after her kid.

Quote:Of course, women like my friend who are able to take time out of the workforce to care for their children are privileged. Many women have to return to work out of economic necessity. More often than not, they are then run ragged working a full day in paid work and then come home to a second shift of unpaid domestic work and childcare.

Amusingly, this run-ragged issue is the result of feminism. If you'd bothered to stay out of the workforce, you'd have one job, not two. The moment women got the right to go into the workforce was the same day it became impossible to raise a kid and have a house on less than two incomes.

That said, I chuckle when she, or any feminist who doesn't want to come across like a hysterical lunatic, mouths the standard platitude that "motherhood is fine and valid, no problem." It doesn't come across as terribly sincere given the rest of her column is basically shitting on motherhood and sees it as a burden rather than a blessing. And I very much doubt she'll be saying any such thing the day her 16 year old daughter walks up to her and says she's pregnant, wants to keep the kid, and wants to go live with the biker boy that is the kid's father.

"13.5 percent by a father or stepfather"
By her logic she should never leave her daughter alone with her husband since he is a male relative and perhaps even the biological father.

RE: Ridiculous Australian Feminist: Why I won't let any male babysit my children
I predict that someday she accuses her husband of child abuse.
His fault in this would be having been an idiot to have children with someone as messed up as her.

The stats she sites to of 1 in 20 for boys and 1 in 3 for girls reminds me of the college 'rape' for women 'stats' that started off at 1 in 5, moved up to 1 in 4, 1 in 3 and even got cited by a Congress WOMAN at 1 in 2;before people started to realize that 'there was something wrong with the stats'. IF the stats were correct, one would know a lot of people this happened to, and many people knew no one these things happened to.

I find it amazing that none of the relatives tell her to F off and cut contact. Who the hell wants to be the target of whatever she decides to do when she really starts to 'go off the rails' on her crazy train. Hopefully, the kids will be adults by then and moved out of the house and tell mommy to go F herself.

The amazing thing about such indoctrination is that it looks like it is all self indoctrination; i.e. she makes herself believe such things and made it a priority to research such things.

In all of my reading, prior to 60 years ago, I NEVER come across people thinking and obsessing over things in this manner. I also note that it seems to be ALWAYS women when someone acts like this, although I suspect that as men become more and more feminized (and messed up like women) that we will start to see some men acting like this also.

I would look after my relatives' children, my friends' children, if I had children, my children's friends, etc. Or I would babysit a stranger's kids if they paid me and I knew they weren't horrible brats.

At first glance, it looks as if she already believes he could be a potential abuser. She is holding their child as far away as possible from him without having it to the side.

Oh, and here's her arguing for men to look after kids more:

I would say my point was addressed at strangers kids rather than relatives, although a lot of documented peado cases have been relatives.

RE: Ridiculous Australian Feminist: Why I won't let any male babysit my children
Interestingly, while rattling off statistics about child abuse, she chooses to omit one of the more significant ones: that child abuse risk is much higher in single parent households than in married ones. And that has nothing to do with married households being helicopter parents, either; the risk is just lower when you have biologically-related parents in the house.

She's also somewhat disingenuous about the male/female stats, if not the stats generally. The paper she's talking about - an ABS survey from 2005 - says that while female sex offenders represent only 0.8% of the population, the paper warns there's a high standard error in that figure and that the results "should be interpreted with caution", i.e. they don't believe the number is that low in the overall population.

Did you also notice how she mixed and matched her results? For her assertion about sex abuse prevalence rates she pulls the numbers from the 2011 Australian Criminology paper, which is an assembly of figures from Australia and overseas to arrive at the maximum of 48%, penetrative and non-penetrative abuse. Let's absorb that: she is saying that child sexual abuse could go as high as 1 in 2. The lunacy of that assertion is probably why she chooses the slightly less hysterical but still insanely high number of 1 in 3.

The reason she did that was because the ABS survey from 2005 doesn't match her narrative:

Quote:Women were more likely to have been sexually abused than men. Before the age of 15, 12% ( 956,600) of women had been sexually abused compared to 4.5% (337,400) of men.

Sexual abuse being classed as any adult involving a kid under the age of 15 in sexual activity. This is still not the lowest number on earth, but it's a shitload smaller than her "1 in 3" estimate too. Bear in mind those absolute numbers are estimates: the survey went through about 6,300 women and a comparable number of men. Either way, I would guess she picked the ABS 2005 data for the sex of the offender because the Criminology paper didn't even think to ask about the offender's sex or had a figure that was much higher than 0.8%.

Wild variations in statistical data are not harbingers of real world results.

And let's also dismantle the idea that this is nothing but reliance on cold, statistical data: no, it isn't. That is innumeracy at best and flat-out misandry at worst, all her protestations to the contrary notwithstanding. Insurance companies use large samples of statistical data to set the level of their premiums. They do so because over the long run the large mass of data allows you to be profitable: lots of incidents of payment versus a predictable pattern of payouts.

You can't predict the likelihood of an incident of child abuse on pure statistics. It doesn't work that way. This idea of screening all men out because a large proportion of men are sex offenders is kind of like saying that because a large proportion of lightning strikes happen on trees, you don't have any trees in your background. She says the odds of a child being abused, if you're a boy, are 1 in 20? Coincidentally that's the exact same chance of dying of an injury in your lifetime. I doubt she's walking around in a foam sumo suit as a consequence.

The correct approach in dealing with the risk of lightning strikes is to learn to not go the fuck out during a thunderstorm, i.e. develop situational awareness, i.e.e. know your kid and fellow citizens sufficiently well so that you can pick up when someone is giving off bad vibes. But helicopter parents tend to be like that: they obsess over the minutiae while denying real, substantial, normal interaction to their kids.

RE: Ridiculous Australian Feminist: Why I won't let any male babysit my children
When she calls them "babysitters" I'm not surprised she's freaked herself out. When we think of "babysitters" we think of a teenage girl, a man doing it would be weird. I wouldn't hire one, I'd rather a babysittter I can try and fuck. But her paranoia goes much further than that.

My kids friends are always coming over and doing whatever it is that kids do. I'm often the only responsible adult home, so technically I'm "babysitting them" but I'm barely paying attention to them at all. It's only if they get too loud or too quiet that I check in on them.

When kids are in packs, they pretty much babysit themselves and that's how they learn to socialise and find their own place in the pecking order - free of adult meddling. Her kids are going to miss out on that, because there'll always be an SJW hovering around her, their eagle eyes scanning for any evil male in the vicinity, sanitising any organic personal interaction through an extra strength social justice filter. She'll be living in a feminist bubble.

You thought the mum was fucked up, just wait till you see how her child turns out.

Over/Under 0.5 times the father abuses one of the daughters.

What fool of a father isolates his daughters like that unless he wants them all to himself.... Confused

Like others have mentioned he has a weirdo cuck face and vibe.

The couple is delusional.

See I would not want a man to babysit my daughters either because a woman would do a better job, not on some rejection of the role of men in shaping daughters, though, simply just because women are just better at caring for kids like that.

This couple rejects energy at all fronts which is silly. Obviously, the father is a cuck with low T which is a recipe for raising daughters who end up as whores. Once the girls grow old and become promiscuous then they just set themselves up for emotional and physical abuse as they never learn how to screen and filter positive male energy from negative male energy.

She wouldn't be saying this shit if she was a single mother, instead, she would be begging any man with a pulse to stick around.

These parents just don't get it.

Girls who never get exposure to the moulding of positive male energy run astray.

One other point of note, though: this sort of article stokes the same Salem witch-hunt mindset as has overtaken college campuses around false rape accusations.

There is a sad but salient piece of advice for men to take from this: if you have to look after a kid, do so with your girlfriend or with a friend in the house. Never be alone around a kid. Ever. Think a false rape accusation is bad? Try a false child abuse accusation.

This is just the inverse of her brand of madness. The other side of the coin.

Never be alone around a kid. / Never leave a kid alone around a man.

1. Husband looks exactly like I imagined.

2. WNB. No dick in crazy.

3. Maybe she's onto something.... statistically speaking maybe we should stop all Muslims just to be safe? Maybe all women shouldn't be allowed to vote because they have stupid ideas?

4. I can't wait until this backfires and someone, understanding that she is insinuating that they are or may be a child molester, gives it to her (verbally).

Quote:To be clear, I'm not saying that all men are sexual predators. Nor do I think that men harbour predatory instincts

Replace men with muslims, replace sexual predator with terrorist, and increase the percentages of likelihood....

Sounds like an immigration policy she would decry as bigotry, rather than risk management...

If we could only get some consistency.

Men should just stay away from these toxic women, they will bring you down and your future kids, if you have any together.

Unfortunately I have ran into a few of these types back in the U.K. They all come from incredibly sheltered backgrounds and genuinely see men as their serfs or inferiors.

The only thing that bothers me about women such as her; is that there are a lot like her in media, politics, education and the government in general. I generally detest this whole men versus women dichotomy which is strongly embedded into the Western narrative nowadays.

It will lead to the raising of another generation or broken men and women who can't form healthy relationships with the opposite sex. It seems that women like her, want to infect the next generation with their hatred, so they can 'join the club'.

This is possibly a broken woman who was molested in her own childhood. If so, she's never really addressed what happened to her because of her career feminism and unusually vocal misandry.

If she wasn't molested, she is even more broken. She is going to teach her children that men are bad and to be feared, hampering their ability to have healthy relationships.

Cuck husband is obviously putting up with her crazy because its the best he can do and he has cuck levels of self-respect.

Ironically I expect her children to need therapy because of her psychotic helicopter parenting, not from molestation.

I've solved the Scooby Doo mystery. This gal is Tucker Max's sister-in-law, as her sister is clearly married to him:

BABY ROOTH!!!

I was thinking more along the lines of the Mysterious Alien Creature

When WE came to Twin Peaks for Project Bluebook, the White Lodge spirits recognised his heart was pure and tried to possess WE to find out about the Black Lodge. To stop WL spirits from entering his body he used Haliperidol. It appeared the Haliperidol was causing insanity, but the Haliperidol was allowing his natural evil and insanity to express itself.
