Sad news indeed. This was the song that introduced me to Al. It's amazing hearing his voice in the we're in this love together video as I had no idea that's how he used to sound.

It does not surprise me that this is not headlines or getting love from other celebs. The first celebs I recall talking about him were Cedric the Entertainer and Steve Harvey. He is a Jazz Aficionado's type of singer. Hardcore RnB lovers like him too but probably not many.

Maurice White didn't even get a mention on the forum when he died, and he is easily in the top ten of most influential figures in modern pop music in terms of originality, popularity, and influence on other artists, and yet he and his band seem to be scrubbed from popular media memory.

Ah. Don't get me started. Anytime a unappreciated person dies it makes me resentful on behalf of Maurice White.

I was familiar with his name, but never heard any of his music until recently. Will have to make an effort to look up more of his material.
