RE: Cocaine usage/feeling alone
Data shows there are recreational users who can take it occasionally and have no negative long-term sick effects.

Then there is the other spectrum of people who can't handle recreational use at all.

Myself personally have no craving for it, but have done a few times in my life. Its not something I actively seek out, but to each their own.

I fucken hate coke venues cause I can not compete with the shit.
I'm pretty anti coke I lost a girlfriend to the shit when I was younger and a good mate who should be a multi millionaire fucked up his life over it.He now lives with his parents and can not be trusted.

I've used it and fucked - coke game is no fucking joke, hot sluts love coke and you're right, they'll fuck and suck for it. Especially if you're in the bathroom alone together.

I'm sorry about your losses man, it truly is terrible.

I've definitely winded down use, I've never had an issue with it, as in it's something I'd be addicted to, it's recreational for me, and the only people I hang around are other guys who are success (white collar drug society).

I still find it great the forum can come together and point out something the OP didn't see before, that it isn't the drugs, it's him personally.

RE: Cocaine usage/feeling alone
Dude, stop using coke. I remember back in college I was selling a little coke, it started off a fun thing to keep the night going and then noticed I would take a bump here and there to go to class. Never became a problem but as soon as that started happening I cut it out cold turkey.

I don't like coke, its fun but there's never enough, I always finding myself wanting to get to that next level. Also it turns people nasty, everyone thinks they are a big shot, people fight over the last little bit, people who are good people will steal or hide some from their friends.

If it becomes even the slightest problem stop it immediately.

If nothing else take an adderall instead. It's cheaper and a better buzz with drinking anyway.

RE: Cocaine usage/feeling alone
I never really got into drugs. I did smoke cigarettes a long time ago and quit cold turkey. I have no issue with drugs that could potentially increase performance, however I don't believe that cocaine is in that category. If you're looking for focus there are much better alternatives.

While I've never had a coke addiction, I do have some advice that I believe is relevant.

First, start to become aware of the mental/emotional states or the situations that trigger the craving. Is it stress? loneliness? anger? hanging out with certain friends? What are the situations that arise that make you want to use? Write them down if you have to. The first step is to become aware so you can recognize them and be on alert. This will help at least initially to focus on resolving the issues that lead to the behavior. Meditation helps in this regard, so does REBT. Do a forum search for the REBT thread by Dusty and read the entire thing.

The second action step is to form a healthy addiction and cornerstone habit to replace it. Read the book The Power of Habit, I know Roosh reviewed it a while back.

A cornerstone habit is for example lifting weights and exercising. When you really dive into this type of lifestyle you'll notice that other things start falling into place. You begin eating better meals, having more energy, and feeling better. Working out becomes the habit that your health revolves around.

Give these things a try and let us know how they work out.

RE: Cocaine usage/feeling alone
Hey guys, thanks for all the feedback/messages

I'm going to try to make sure I can set aside sober times with my friends in order to avoid this

I posted this when I was on one, and honestly, seeing how I write I can see the major ups and downs of a drug like this.

For those questioning the dosage, it's more of an issue that I want it so much in-between usage, and less so the amount used itself (for now)

For background, I had a stepfather addicted to heroin, and I know that wasnt the first drug he touched

If you haven't already, I would recommend that you read a bit over on the drinking wagon thread. Your mentioning of the cravings suggests to me you might benefit from some of the great wisdom shared in that thread.

Your honest is appreciated and I'm glad you reached out. Let us know if there is anything more we can do for you.

RE: Cocaine usage/feeling alone
Speaking as somebody whose been there (mostly with weed), when you start doing drugs alone, or when you start thinking about how much better x activity would be if you were on drugs, that is a warning sign that you have a problem. I was very lucky in that I saw up close and personal what happens to a drug user when money is literally no object and they have too much free time on their hands. I realized I had started to do things that I would have looked down up a couple years ago, and that I was at the point where I could no longer trust myself. I also realized that my life is pretty great, so I don't need to be doing drugs all the time to make me happy. Once I realized that doing drugs like that were going to make me into a person I didn't want to be I stopped and I haven't looked back.

Drugs are meant to be done with friends, in moderation, once in a blue moon. Never do heroin, meth or crack and always be vigilant about coke. Always have a good set and setting for psychdelics and never take MDMA more than once every 3 months. And once an addict, always an addict. Those are rules.

RE: Cocaine usage/feeling alone
So let me ask you this; would you even have cocaine in your life, if you hung out with a completely different set of people? Future addicts start off by not being able to leave the party, they are the definition of FOMO. They always have to be out, with the group, every night, and their identity and lives revolve around their social circle. When it gets bad, is when you start to avoid these people and go off into your own little hell. When you become the "partying loner" is when your in too deep. When you get it all from your social circle, and can't get enough without them, I would see that as a sign to stop.

Its time to talk to an addiction specialist.

This is how I have seen it start every time. I grew up in a family of addicts. I've had several friends OD. I was exposed to these type of people before I became a teen. I still see it now in extremely talented people. You're in a very early stage, that is festering like a bad zit.

Go find new friends. If you truly want to end this, you have to do this. Thats the only way to break the connection. If you can't bear to be alone and on your own for a while you find new friends, the devil will only want more of you when you go back. Your social circle is the source. If its through work, dump them or get a new job. If its your childhood friends, leave them in the past for good. If its a random social circle, do you really need them? Until you can stand on your own completely, you will be tempted to go back.

Wayyyy too addictive for me. I can't touch the stuff.

I felt like Bradley Cooper in Limitless on it but I know how addictive it felt and I didn't want to even think about going down that road.

Had to cut out a few friends to get the people who were doing it away from me.

RE: Cocaine usage/feeling alone
I used to think cocaine was bad, then I tried it.

I used to think cocaine was awesome, then I went to bed too many times with the birds chirping and responsibilities neglected.

I used to think cocaine was a thing of the past, then a Venezuelan sold me a few ounces of "pure" Colombian on the beach in Aruba.

Cocaine has always been a very social drug in my experiences. The conspiring to acquire, the sneaking off with a select few from the group or party to partake, the art of chopping the lines, the communal act of passing the straw or dollar bill, the chain reaction of "hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh....... god damn" as it hits your brain and blood stream simultaneously and on to the next person, the increased chatter and laughter, and volume, the inane conversations that seem so profound.

The actual act of doing blow has always been social. Until it is not. That usually occurs sometime after dawn while opening a fresh pack of Camels and sipping on a Gatorade. The crowd has thinned and the rest of the world has already begun their next turn on the carousel. I am left with a strong feeling of either peace or loneliness. It is usually a reflection of my overall state of mind prior to the night.

If you are feeling alone it has little to do with a few random nights of blow and more to do with your day to day.

Scotian's advice sounds pretty damn good.

THIS^.

It's also amazing that after "coming back" shortly after the realization, there is still no catharsis. Meaning, you realize it, but it doesn't make you feel any better. You just do it again and go through the same motions the next weekend. It really is a thrill ride due to everything you described above.

I myself have been on the weening off phase. It's decently expensive around here, around 100$ a gram so that's an incentive too (BTW where the f*ck do you live that it's 300-400 a gram?). Luckily all my friends are on board too and are trying to cut back. Of course when we all get together it only takes a single one of us to mention it and we all flock. Baby steps.

^^Definitely take this advice if you'd like to be a worthless hungover piece of shit for 2 days.

My 2¢

Don't waste the benefits of adderall or other performance enhancers like modafinil by mixing them with shit substances like alcohol.

If you want to drink then just drink.

Save the performance enhancers for when you need to be a boss and pound out a 18-20 hour day of work + gym + pussy.

You are simply wasting the usefulness of these drugs if you use them for recreational drinking.

I've known guys who used cocaine or other drugs without it causing serious problems in their lives. This comment is a strong indicator that you aren't one of those guys.

Loneliness and using drugs/alcohol to escape reality are both frequently linked with the various types of depression. It's a vicious cycle with the depression leading to more drug use and the drug use leading to more depression. It might happen on a chemical/biological level. It might happen on a personal level where your drug use creates problems in your relationships and friendships which lead to more loneliness.

Coke can be fun, but I've seen that drug wreck too many people's lives in early adulthood.

I have done a lot of coke and speed in my 20s and while I loved it the coming down was always so depressing. The older I got the less I wanted to put up with feeling depressed for days and just decided to kick it off.. if you would offer me some I would probably take it but I am not sure I would intentionally go out on coke parties anymore.

OP, how old are you? The reason I ask is occasional use of something that artificially stimulates your heart is risky enough when you're younger, but as you grow older the same dose - or less - could kill you. Remember Billy Mays, the TV sales guy?

He had some heart problems already, but the cocktail of drugs in his system (to include cocaine) didn't do him any favors. Do yourself a favor and drop that shit for good before your "occasional use" sneaks up on you.

This is what turned me off also over time.

I only had cocaine a couple of times, I felt like god but way too short of a duration. It was more Speed and MDMA in my case when it came to 'social drugs' but the comedowns after my mid-twenties were just too brutal and I couldn't justify it.

I also can't recover as quickly and these days I can't afford to be stuffed for days.
