If you look at this article some girl posted his picture to Instagram at nearby business that narrowed search drastically. Its still impressive but I was having hard time believing they had enough information in a day to randomly find it.

I'm not aware of any state that allows you to attack people outside on your property if they are not assaulting you. States that have castle doctrine mean he could if you broke in his house. If anyone has seen the show Lomgmire a sovereign citezen nut build a six inch wood wall around his yard to make it his castle so he can kill people legally.

Then there are states where you have to run away if possible, meaning you can't legally defend your own house.
