Anyone ever considered going for the sluts? I think it's a week long event. My boy's friend from college said he went one year and there was way more females than guys. It seems like a perfect set up if you're into artsy/hipster girls.

Wanted to bump this in light of the SFF this weekend. Any Utah guys on the forum or anyone who has done this? Got an invite to a couple of ASW events there this weekend. Wonder what type of chicks go there, if any.

I would imagine that unless you have some kind of film to show off, even if it's a just 4 minute long grainy ass webcam 'experimental' one on your iphone, the women who go won't be paying attention. They're going there to starfuck (unless you're model good looking/run some tight ass game). If you bang, it'll be the local cleaning girls, and even then the hottest ones will already be invited back to Tarantino's cabin so he can drizzle their feet with his seed.

Although I have no personal experience from Sundance, so it could be different. I'm just speaking from other film festivals/events I've been to (including Toronto), and the same people seem to sift around them like old timey jet setters. The masses of hot women aren't going there to celebrate the films and otherwise have a good time - they're lookin' to catch the eye of the stars.

Like Billy Chubbs my gut is that it will be ok but not great for gaming...maybe the LA sluts will make it more user friendly? I'm assuming you can just say you're a director or screenwriter to display some value?

On a separate note, is ASW worth a damn anymore? I used to go to parties there all the time but they have largely turned into tons of dudes and the same old professional validation-seeking girls every time at least in my experience. I guess it depends on where you are, but now that you need to pay to belong I'm no longer a member.

I'm a paying member of ASW. It was like $110 for the year. It completely sucks in DC after the relaunch. Very few people are on it now that it's a paying website. They also haven't come through on the complimentary 1-week stay at this 5-star hotel that's supposed to open up in St. Kitts.

I don't even go to the DC events anymore since they are all brunches and dinners and I already know the people going (no talent). However, I want to check it out in a different city before I pass complete judgment. A friend of mine went to a NYC event at 1Oak that was decent. I'd like to see how it is in DF or Rio. Hopefully there's some event going on where I'll be in the course of my travels this year.

As for Sundance, an acquaintance of mine is showing a film so I can get into some circles. But I still don't know if any talent will be there. How was TFF in TO? That's a pretty high-profile event so I'd be surprised if no talent came through.

Sundance has mad talent + great parties, BUT only go if you have one of the following or a couple:

-Mad hookups. And I mean your best friend is a power agent or a relative has you hooked up for the parties.

-You have a film. Can be a short, but preferably a feature.

-You're famous.

-You're hosting a party there. A real party.

If you just going with zero SOLID connects, you'll be standing outside in the cold, or stuck at a bar.

I am 30 minutes from there. Lived here long but never went there. It gets crowded and they jack up the price for this period. They charge $20 for some indie films you never heard of.

I am going there to check out one of live shows though.

It's all about Credential pass. You need those to check out the scene during the day.

You can go to night parties by purchasing tickets but I don't know how far you can go.

Check out ticket section on craigslist. there are all sorts of different passes and it is fucking confusing.

In the end, it's just like Hollywood. you need money + connection
