American media is always going to be full of foreigners because it's one of the few that has no restrictions on what is played, broadcast, etc.

For example, Alex Trebek is a Canadian and hosted Jeopardy for over 30 years. An American could never go to Canada and host a Canadian game show because of content laws. It also happens on the radio, where they play a certain amount of Canadian songs.

Streep has long been a dumbass on anything but acting. I still remember her getting involved in the great apple scare back in 1989:

There's an old saying that the best revenge is a life well-lived. If Trump continues to create jobs, build diplomatic ties, reign in China, etc. these sore whiny losers will become isolated from the mainstream. The more you complain when the object of your detraction is successful and living it up, the more pathetic you look. What strikes me the most is her statement about Hollywood being the most "vilified" segment of society. It's easy to just write this off as out of touch, but it gets much more telling when you realize that her and so many others believe that because they believe that Trump's being elected was a direct slap in the face to them.

I don't want to read too deeply, but it sounds a lot like her and a lot of others are saying that they are vilified as the "good people" in a country filled with "literal Nazis (but nobody in this room)". It's simultaneously elitist and playing the victim. They've created elitist victimhood! Once you let that sink in, you realize how crazy this bunch of fucking nutters is.

I have always disliked Meryl Streep - all her roles are feminist roles.

In all movies of her that I have seen she caters to the female phantasy of being an older woman who still succeeds romantically with younger men despite her age. She has good genetics that allow her too look very good for her age. The irony that feminists don''t see is that her success still depends on her looks.

Ryan Reynolds has done multiple roles where he acted gay (Family Guy, Ted) and Andrew Garfield entertained the idea for a gay Spiderman.

Also the UFC and NFL are both more diverse than Hollywood. Go figure

As for Streep, the remarkable thing about Hollywood is that these speeches hardly if ever pertain to the subject of the film. Let's say she accepted the award for a film where she played a disabled woman. In that case, although I disagree that Trump was mocking a disabled reporter, I would understand a little more. But it's the same with Patricia Arquette's equal pay speech, DiCaprio's climate change speech, etc: they feel that their acceptance speech is a platform to lecture America on their pet cause rather than a platform to speak about their art and thank those involved.
