RE: Advice for Dallas, there for 1 day
12 Hour Stay Insight
You are right in that Grapevine Mills is a good place to go shopping. I even took a Brazilian family that stayed with me there one time. However, it's mainly going to be families opposed to single chicks in late teens to 20s and 30s there. The good part about Grapevine Mills is the good food court. I had a meeting in Southlake last week and even went around the area. You might see some good talent but run the risk of accidentally macking on underage high school gals.
I literally hung out with an RVF member in Miami during my 12 hour layover there going to 4 different neighborhoods that were quite far from the airport in a rental car. With that being said, I think North Park and Shops on Park Lane is a better calibration for a short stay. Sure it is farther but those outlets on Park Lane have more single chicks shopping there on weekends & weekdays not to mention the same discount stores as Grapevine Mills too homie. A person could even dick around on Knox Street during that time going to Apple Store, etc since you see quite a few hot chicks there too. For food, why not check out Eatzis Deli off Oak Lawn as well. All in all, that's a good 6-7 hours right there. It would be much more exotic as a foreigner playing lost tourist game asking charming questions out there opposed to the family type atmosphere of Grapevine Mills.
Longer Visits or For Locals
As for trips that include longer stays than the 12 hour layover, I wouldn't say Deep Ellum is hands down a total winner. Dallas as a city has recently transitioned from upscale 30 thousand millionaire to a different type of cliquish vibe where many recent young professionals are trying to relive undergrad again, which I think is worse BTW.
Truth & Alibi in Deep Ellum can supposedly be good, but the other places I visited are likely better for dates or those annoying cliquish groups of friends. You have this brewery culture which is becoming hot for groups of friends, but it's making many people more asexual as a result. Kickball, brewery culture, and some of the hipster crap like Texas Theater in North Oak Cliff = Meh.
Uptown has gotten very SMUish and let's relive undergrad again mixed in with increasing ghetto-ness. Sad to say but if you want to increase chances of meeting chicks, it's upscale or nothing on the nightlife end of Uptown. Places like Ritz-Carlton, Hotel Zaza, Tipsy Alchemist, or Citizen (which I hear is good for Thurs nights whereas its bottle entrance only for dudes Friday/Sat).
I was a fan of the Dram on Henderson not to mention you have good selection but unfortunately hit or miss scenarios out there as well.
Restaurants and restaurant bars are typically where it's at as well. Bitch shields will be lower and thirsty dude bros are less likely to eat out while opting for stupid places like Trophy Room or Kung Fu Bar. Places like Knife, Al Biernat, Victor Tango's, Bistro 31, El Bolero, brunch at Taverna, etc.
I wouldn't recommend going to Joule in Downtown Dallas for a short 12 hour stay, but there are good chicks in the lobby frequenting the bar and coffee shops built in. CBD Provisions is the expensive built in restaurant, which I"m not a huge fan of though I would definitely recommend avoiding Midnight Rambler. Too expensive and all couples on dates minus single bitches.
