RE: Disgraceful Ronda Rousey as a social metaphor
She should've taken up Floyd Mayweather on his offer. From after UFC 193 (when she got her ass beat by Holm):

Quote:"I want Ronda Rousey to hold her head up high and don’t let this discourage you. If you need help as far as with boxing, I’m here to help you," Mayweather told Fighthype.com. "It’s all about timing and inches. Her ground game is unbelievable. She’ll be OK."

You know what they say about pride...

All that time, effort, brand-building and financial investment from UFC to prove that women fighters deserve to be taken as seriously as men - Rousey has been on the cover of multiple male Fitness magazines this year - only seems to prove, once again, that they don't.

Trump won Dana, it's time to move this shit back to the margins.

This is the same chick that was going to whup Floyd Mayweather, right - the chick that has twice now been sparked out by women throwing punches? Lol.

RE: Disgraceful Ronda Rousey as a social metaphor
I wrote this back in June 2016 in a different Ronda Rousey thread, I'd say it was quite prescient.

Instead, she's apparently chosen to have a never-ending pity party over it. That's why I don't envy people who have an undefeated streak. Whenever they finally lose, it's going to hit them HARD. It's much better to lose early on, so you can learn how to come back from it. Losing not only builds character, it provides motivation to keep improving your skills. It can also steel your resolve to win. While winning is obviously the object of any competition, you can't fully appreciate a victory without knowing the agony of defeat.

This whole situation makes me think of "Rocky III"...

After Rocky's defeated by Clubber Lang (Mr. T) and his trainer, Mickey, dies, Rocky is broken. It takes working with his formal rival, Apollo Creed, to help him overcome his loss. Eventually, he regains his will to fight and beats Lang in a rematch.

Now, I understand "Rocky III" is just a movie, but this shit happens in real life, too. I'm just picking an example everyone probably knows about.

I think if we fast forward a few more years down the road, Rousey will either be in the WWE or in porn. I think her fighting days are pretty much over.

I knew I was forgetting something! Laugh

To this day, I can't think of mud wrestling without the movie "Stripes" coming to mind. Classic!

RE: Disgraceful Ronda Rousey as a social metaphor
Dominick Cruz was the co-main even along with Ronda and also lost his fight along with his belt. Look at his response to losing compared to Ronda bolting out the cage and disappearing.

http://www.bloodyelbow.com/2016/12/31/14...t-champion

Quote:“It was good to be able to at least fight somebody with a good heart,” Cruz added. “I said what I want about the guy about his smarts or whatnot, but he does have a good heart. And that’s important. So, enjoy being at the top, Cody. You’re a young champion. Try to keep it. It’s tough. Let’s see what you do with it.”

The Alliance MMA fighter was also lucid and honest in his analysis of where things went wrong on the night.

“It was just the little things,” he said. “Like I was throwing empty kicks. I wasn’t setting them up as well, so that led him to counter better with his power instead of setting my kicks up better. That would’ve allowed me to close the range a little bit better instead of him pulling me into his power. There’s little adjustments I can make to make this a better fight, make it a little bit closer, make it a little bit more competitive to where I can win it. But tonight was his night.”

Notice that he was gracious towards the guy who beat him and also was honest with himself about the mistakes he made in his defeat. Contrast that with the way Ronda reacts to losing.

From Rousey's post-fight antics, you'd think she just lost an election to Donald Trump.
