A family spokesman released a statement on behalf of Fisher’s daughter: “It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning. She was loved by the world, and she will be missed profoundly.”

An icon to generations of film fans and in recent decades an almost fanatically adored public wit, Fisher had a heart attack Friday on a Los Angeles-bound flight from London and had been in intensive care at a UCL.A Medical Center.

Questions need to be asked about a woman who dies at 60 when her mother is 84 years old and still kicking (and in good health). No obvious congenital issues in Carrie's case.

If I take one thing away from this, it's that she was only 60, yet looked older than my 79 yr old mother. And my mother has had 3 strokes and can talk better than her. Jesus.

From what I've read she did drugs pretty heavily, at least when she was younger. That's not a great plan if you want to live a long life.

The worst part is all the sycophantic tributes by "celebrities". Attention-starved has-beens jumping on the bandwagon of eulogizing a person most of them never ever talked about. Posting a Princess Leia pic TEN YEARS AGO doesn't count.

On that theme, Sarah Michelle Gellar needs to pay a movie executive to let her wipe their ass nowadays, and comes out with this gem about Boy George, who apparently died the other day instead of George Michael:

When I heard George Michael died I thought of Boy George too. I didn't realize until like 12 hours later that no, George Michael had died. No idea why I made that transposition.

Carrie Fisher was the daughter of two celebrities.

Debbie Reynolds and (((Eddie Fisher))).

Eddie was a pop star in the first half of the 50s, before Elvis and Rock&Roll came on the scene.

While it strikes me that Eddie Fisher was a bit of an asshole himself -- fatherless daughters always go the way of the trainwreck, and her stepfather seems to have bled the family dry financially -- her mother seems to have been a bit of an emotional vampire, if you go by her novel Postcards from the Edge. Debbie Reynolds always seems to have been disappointed with her daughter and yet also jealous of her as well -- pretty much the most poisonous mother/daughter relationship you could get. Carrie was pretty much the definition of a house without a decent foundation: it always has cracks in it, and eventually it collapses.

Heart failure. An heart attack is when blood vessels in your heart are blocked and heart tissues starts to die. In the case of Carrie's health, years of alcohol and cocaine did number on her heart, making it weak and dysfunctional. When the heart attack occurred, it did a lot of damage to it. Her death could be rupture of heart chambers from the dead tissue, arrhythmias due to conduction tissue death, or another unknown complication.

Right, way too much family baggage, not enough sense to build her own family, which would have brought her happiness and stability. She should have been a happy and active grandma playing with a bunch of grandchildren by the beach nearly every day well into her 70s.

Damn, do celebrities need to be quarantined until 2016 is over?! They've been dropping like flies this year. Just off the top of my head: David Bowie, Alan Rickman, Prince, Gene Wilder, Alan Thicke, Muhammad Ali, Anton Yelchin, Zsa Zsa Gabor, John Glenn, Florence Henderson, Leonard Cohen, Arnold Palmer, Garry Marshall, Patty Duke, Merle Haggard, George Michael and now Carrie Fisher.

Carrie was handed a career in Hollywood via her family connections and largely threw it away on drugs and random slut behavior. Let's be honest, she partied so hard that she was beat before 30. And she wasn't even a great actress, she was slightly above average on her best day. She'll be remembered for wearing one of the most iconic bikini's of all time and that's pretty much it.

I'm just going to put this out there.

Carrie Fischer was never hot.

Her hotness was an urban myth that grew out of the fact that the original trilogy was a total sausage-fest. You could have shoved a young lena-dunham into that slave-Leia outfit and she would have been regard as a sex symbol for the next 30 years.

Fischer in her prime was plain. Average. Ordinary. Run-of-the-mill.

Go ahead and look at the bio picture above and tell me I'm wrong. Plain face. Plain tits. Plain ass. Plain, plain, plain.

But that's what a sausage-fest does. Pedestalises the plain.
