Lots of naked hypocrisy going around and on display. No principles or men of substance, just self-seeking opportunists looking to seize on the next wave of opportunism to ride.

Look at the selection of Rick Perry as energy man. This is a guy who never missed a chance to badmouth government and spread bile and poison. Then when offered a morsel by Trump (a job in the government agencies he claims to hate so much) he leaps at the chance like some hungry puppy. He was so greedy for a handout that he never even bothered to check the job description.

What the amoral opportunists don't know is that eventually, the great clock at the Masque of the Red Death will chime midnight. The bell will toll for them, eventually.

But by that time it will be too late, for the Red Death will have already done its work, and will hold (as Poe says) "illimitable dominion over all."
