• 18 - 21 : MIT Math grad (+econ minor). Graduated Phi Beta Kappa.
• 21 - 27 : Trader at D.E. Shaw.
• 27 - 28 (now) : Portfolio manager at Citadel.
  

A dumb person can't graduate Phi Beta Kappa from MIT (i.e. top 2% of class, roughly 4.8-5.0/5.0 GPA). Nor can they get a trading position at D.E. Shaw or
keep if for 6 years. Soooo we can conclude that:

• he is not dumb. In fact, he is obviously very intelligent and hard workign
• he kills what he eats : You can't bullshit your way through MIT or the trading floor. If you're good, you get compensated. If you're not, you get sacked.
• he has been consistently performing at high level for the past ten years. Fifteen to twenty if we include pre-MIT.
  

It's not clear to me why you think he's dumb or why you attribute his success to nepotism. All I see is a high performing individual, who has made one
good decision after another, suddenly making a mistake.

Sure he is going to be okay. He can overcome it. That said, I see no reason to admonish him or trivialize his experience. Ignoring the whole baby thing,

I can sympathise a little for this Ted Cruz look-a-like. I've been in a situation, overseas, where I (28 at the time) nutted into an older woman (34) who was hotter than anything I've been with. This was back when I was starting out using game and had limited success. When this HB8.5 I met overseas, fell into my lap with minimal effort, offering sex I couldn't refuse. 100 percent agree that intelligence or book smarts do not equate to wisdom or street smarts.

I also agree that 28 to 39 is the woman danger zone. Bang above (cougars earning alimony/child support from the first marriage) or below (run of the mill young sluts) that zone. I'll admit he likely didn't get those positions on charm, but it does remain that you can be a high achiever in your job and still be utterly fucking clueless when it comes to women.

Bear in mind he's making the kind of mistake he would have seen and been warned about in his job for years. As you say, he kills what he eats: the trading floor is not exactly a SJW paradise, mainly because it's brutally results-oriented. The men there work hard (admittedly to little social purpose, but hey) and they tend to play hard too. He was only able to bag former models because his job allows him to move in those circles.

His problem was his approach. As armenia said further up: make your intentions clear from the start unless you want to get taken like this. This guy was playing the classic, old, high-resources-beta-provider method of keeping his mistress: keep stringing her along on a promise of eventual marriage -- eventual legitimacy.

I say it was the old approach because high-end, old-school mistresses valued discretion and ideally legitimacy more than money: producing a bastard was a guarantee of social exile and therefore the casting out from paradise, so they instead used the threat of revelation of the affair to the wife, and they were better at seducing husbands away from their wives, too.

Not so the unmarried thirtysomething in a society that doesn't care about legitimacy of birth or marriage, not in a society where the divorce rate hit or is still close to 50% and therefore every second person you meet is statistically likely to be a single parent or a child with only one parent in its life. Such women are unrestrained by social exile: there's plenty of well-off divorcees now, and the social set is wide enough that you can get by even if you're disinvited to certain parties in the Hampdens. There's no wife to complicate the picture and she has the state behind her.

But as said, if he'd paid attention during trading bull sessions anyone could have told him that. Someone of reasonable intellect in more than one area of his life would have appreciated the risks.

That wouldn't help him. The judge would just "impute income". Which is the judge basically saying: 'You have the ability to earn $1,000,000 a year. So we're going to charge you child support based on that amount, and if you don't pay you go to prison.'

There are only two ways to completely avoid Child Support once you've been tagged with it, and not live like a bum. Assuming that you don't want to make your living in the underground economy.

1.) Leave America forever, move to a country that doesn't have a bi-lateral child support treaty, and never come back. Not for the death of your parents, not to see your family, not for any reason. Also by doing this you won't be able to put your assets in any financial institution that does business in the USA, work for any employer that does business in the USA, and you'll forfeiting any Social Security payments (that you payed into the system to get), and any pension payments you may have earned in the United States.

2.) Acquire foreign citizenship from a European country. Many people can do this through blood right if they're of: Greek, Italian, or Irish descent for example. Then do a legal name change in your European Country. Your paperwork over there isn't linked to your birth certificate and social security card here. As long as you make sure not to link your two identities they won't be able to track you down. You can live, work, and retire in the EU. As well as being able to visit the United States on a tourist visa for up to a year.

By choosing option 2 you also forfeit social security, and pension payments you may have earned in the USA. But it's a much more workable option. Of course if your ex ever finds you, and the country you're residing in has a bi-lateral child support treaty they can still tag you. But if you're using a completely separate identity that would be extremely difficult as long as you use common sense.

Of course everyone would have to put pen to paper to see if either of those options are financially worth pursuing.

NO WAY, He is making WAY to much money at Citadel to be worth leaving the country. There is VERY little chance that he will be able to find a job in another country that pays even half of what he is currently making. Remember, he is NOT some location independent entrepreneur. He is an employee. Even if he did find a comparable job in some other financial capital like London, the UK has a bilateral child support enforcement agreement with the US, so he will STILL have to pay.

Besides, even if child support payments are $10K per month, if he is making $500K -1 mill a year he is better off just biting the bullet and paying child support. It might hurt a little, but just charge the experience to the game and learn from it. Heck, maybe he could use the kid as a prop to run some Single Dad Game.
