Also, vallenato is huge here in Colombia. It's just as popular as reggaeton if not more so, which is sort of incredible since it is accordion-based music. But it couldn't hurt to get to know a few popular vallenato tunes before coming here as well.

I am getting some Latin fever (Republica Dominicana) in particular. Went to a Dominican joint with the Nomad a few weeks back and I was loving the music. I would like to get into some more merengue if possible. For the resident Dominicans in here and Dominican afficionados, can you point me towards some more Dominican merengue?

Moma, were you at New Cafe with Nomad?

Nice...tonight's a good night to go, it will be a more intimate crowd and free to get in -- it's no more than $5 anyway if they do charge. The shit goes late, I've driven by as late as 4:30 and you will still see hotties just arriving.

You can bump anything by Omega El Fuerte, Anthony Santos is a bachatero, but he has some hot merengue tracks out like "Me Quiere La Otra" and "Me Gustas Tú".

There are Dominican sites like La Coquillita and Flow Activo, they always have all the newest bachata, merengue, dembow, etc. In fact, the DJs from Tipico, New Cafe, etc. get their mixes from those sites.

La Tromba - Calaba Calabao, track from coastal Colombia, low-key jam for a drink and some shit-talking




Julio Angel - El Salon, one of the original bachateros with some great double entendres and just a porch or hammock kinda vibe




Lebron Brothers - La Temperatura, classic salsa that you'll no doubt hear hourly if cruising through Cali

Hell yeah DrCotard. Lavoe and Fania All Stars were the shit. All that old-school salsa is timeless regardless of if the listener doesn't speak Spanish. One more oldie before throwing in some new stuff:
